[ makoto can't pinpoint when the crush started. no matter how he thinks back over the last year, he can't figure out where the feelings really started to stand out. not that it's particularly important, but he feels like it's something that should be obvious. instead, the only thing that's obvious is that the realization of his crush has suddenly hit him and he's struggling to push it aside in favor of keeping his friendship with sousuke from getting awkward.
it's been almost a year since they graduated and since the surprise of finding himself a couple of seats over from sousuke in one of his classes. they weren't close before that - they barely knew one another, really - but sharing classes and study time, then meals and time just hanging out with one another, made quick work of bringing them from acquaintances to something closer to friends then to actual friends.
despite all that, makoto can't bring himself to consider spilling the way he feels. he doesn't want to burden sousuke with something like that. or risk pushing him away when it feels like they've just gotten as close as they are.
close enough that he's already invited sousuke over to his apartment so they can order in and study. or watch a movie. that part was still undecided in their last text exchange, but now makoto's not sure how to handle either outside of hoping that sousuke takes his time arriving so he's got a little more time to get himself back to normal. ]
