[Tired, but too wired to sleep, she sits and mulls over the pancake options. She's forgone coffee and has some water or tea instead.

[Why does she do this to herself. Why does she study in the campus until the odd hours of the night, only to snap out of it when the closing announcements are made and realize there's nowhere else to eat. If she weren't already feeling lightheaded from the hunger, she'd just head home and sleep, but a small, warm side won't hurt at this hour, right? Right. Of course not.

She's on her way to a small table when she notices the little bat flying around this one girl. Dana stops, staring for a second or two, trying to decide if shw's so tired she's hallucinating or if this is real. But then she remembers she spent a year fighting demons, and that she met a team of Rangers currently stationed on another planet. Really, a little bat inside a Denny's is far from the weirdest thing she could ever encounter.

So she heads on over to the girl and the bat. Maybe they can swap stories while they eat, if she doesn't mind the company.]

The radiation from the fallout has stripped him of flesh, though he's sitting in a corner booth, stroking the last bit of hair he has left - his mustache - while perusing a menu, wearing a worn pair of work coveralls that proclaim Petro-Chico on the back and a name tag that identifies the owner as Miguel.

[After several long minutes, there's someone dropping herself into the booth across from him. Her eyes are bright and she's grinning broadly and she may or may not have both hands full of those little jelly packets.]

This place is so cool! [Elle exclaims. Well. More like, practically squeals. She does a stupid little dance, still holding the jelly packets, and then dumps them onto the table in front of her.

She may or may not have been raiding the other tables. Scavenger habits die hard, okay?]

[ Lex is in Manhattan on business, -- and frankly, after talking mergers and acquisitions with fat, white, sausage-swinging one-percenters in high-rises for the past twelve or so hours, she could use the the greasy, crispy, sugary reprieve of the chocolate chip waffle special.

Of course, she's having the spinach egg-white omelet, instead. No cheese. No salt.

But at least sitting here, breathing in the grease-heavy air of this place, she can imagine that cholesterol and endorphin overload. And she feels closer to the ground. Closer to the citizens of this city. One of whom seems to be dribbling little drops of blood onto the day-glo orange of his bench seat. And happens to be the most interesting thing she's seen, all day. Perhaps he's attempting to look inconspicuous, sitting there all alone, hunched and dripping. But he doesn't. So, she waves off her entourage at the pickup counter, then sidles over, slides in opposite him. Just a woman clutching a receipt. She leans in. ]
