You enter the elevator with only one other person on it. Twenty seconds into the ride and it stops. The power is out. The doors won't open, you're between floors, and no one is answering your calls. You're stuck with this person for an unknown amount of time.

His partner in the elevator is gifted with unusual reserves of optimism -- or perhaps just good old-fashioned denial -- because for an awkward amount of time after the elevator just stops, she doesn't react. She stares pointedly at the doors, humming the same jaunty tune under her breath that she's been humming since she hopped on, and refuses to acknowledge any possibility other than that elevator service will resume momentarily.

But she gives up, finally. Huffing a sigh that blows blonde curls up from her face like a wayward halo, she turns to regard her fellow captive with an expression that just dares him to confirm this calamity.

"No. Freaking. Way."

They'd been almost competing to see which could more ostentatiously ignore the other when they stepped in the lift - and then it stopped. Half a minute later, Chuck pulled out his phone and frowned, checking a couple of things, before putting it back away. Another ten seconds later and he broke the silence with a drawling sentence.

"You know, Waldorf, if you really wanted to talk, there were easier ways than bribing the maintainance staff." Something part of him wished he'd thought of - not that he thought she really had. But there was no need to let a good barb go to waste. "Especially somewhere our phones don't have reception." Because they were inside a steel box.

[ Sadly, Ryuuko was destined for this fate the moment this guy stepped into the elevator with her... not that she would know anything about his frankly disturbing level of bad luck, or why he's dressed like he's about to be in a Cirque du Soleil performance. Too much spandex, way too much.

The elevator lurches to a halt, the lights flicker on and off above them. Lancer looks around, slightly perturbed by this new development, but he also figures that there are worse things in life (read: having to speak to Gilgamesh for extended periods of time).

Calmly, he turns to Ryuuko. First things first: reassure the young lady trapped in this place next to him. ]

[ This is why Illya isn't not too fond of elevators. They break far more easily than stairs. It does not help that the office they are going to is on a high floor in a very tall building. It really doesn't help that he also isn't fond of tight spaces, although he chooses to deal with his discomfort in a proactive way.

The first thing he tries is the phone system. The second thing he does is hack into the wiring and look at it for a few minutes, before deciding that there isn't enough juice stored up to attempt anything. The third thing he does is locate the roof panel, just in case they need to make a quick escape. ]

I do not like this. [ It's more rhetorical than anything else. He probably doesn't expect an answer. ] Any ideas?

[ tsukiyama stands very still as the elevator stops. he tilts his head toward the walls as his eyes roam the ceiling, listening and watching. eventually as a few seconds pass uneventful, he leans against the wall and breathes out a small sigh of relief. ]

And here I thought that there might be some little birds that figured out who we are, but it looks as though it is something much more mundane than that, Mister Uta. [ he wonders if they should try to break through the top and crawl toward their next floor, but -- ] It's best just to wait for power to come back on.

[Ah, yes, the wonders of technology. Most of the time it was great! It was splendid! Technology was what made an idol's show spectacular with the bright lights, cameras, you name it. But today, was definitely not a day for technology as the elevator shook and then suddenly stopped, nearly causing Maki to lose her balance.

But thankfully she didn't.]

[Ha ha ha. Very funny, this has to be some sort of joke or prank. Surely enough she'll figure out that this was all a part of some notorious plan to get Nico and Maki together, alone, and then later find out that they were on Candid Camera or something.

But instead, for the time being, she just twirls a lock of scarlet hair around her finger, somewhat annoyed.]

Nico, you don't know what's happening, do you? [There's somewhat an accusatory tone in her voice, but she's pretty sure that she isn't a part of this plot (she hopes). This looked more like a Nozomi thing to do if you asked her.]
