I have loved you for a thousand years... Some say that if a pair of lovers die together in tragedy, they will get another chance when they are reborn. Even if the two of you keep losing each other, you'll get to meet again. This meme is that meeting. For the first time? For the hundredth time? That much isn't clear. What is clear is that on this, your seeming first meeting - Everything rushes back to you. Memories, emotion, and all the comes with it...including the memory of how you two died. Overwhelming, isn't it? Some people find it hard to accept, for good reason. What will you do? You can't just bring it up, they'll think you're crazy! Maybe you don't want to bring it up, as you refuse to believe it yourself. And even if you do believe it, that doesn't mean you have to embrace it. You're your own person, after all. You refuse to love someone merely because of who you were in the past. Or maybe you can't help but let these feelings rise to the surface because they're too strong. No matter what, you can't repress it. In fact, the more you two meet and spend time together, the more you find yourself falling back into the old roles...and making the old mistakes. That isn't good, though; there's one more thing. One of you, when you first met, had a vision about how the two of you would die this time. You can't let that happen. Not again. Comment with your character and your preferences. Feel free to do a modern AU of your character. Assumed CR and AUs are a must here. Don't feel obligated to stick with first meetings. Play that the characters have known each other for a while, are trying to have a relationship while trying to be their own unique selves, not having a relationship because THE PAST DOESN'T DEFINE ME, or even trying to avoid death in an adventurous fashion! Now that she's broken the silence, he fixes her with those pale blue eyes of his.] I was just trying to figure out why you seem so familiar, but I'm fairly sure I'd remember if I'd met you, so instead I'll just say [here he offers her his hand] Killian Jones. It's a pleasure.

[ Well, he isn't lying to her that much Emma can tell. But she just sort of looks at his outstretched hand for a moment before she finally takes it. ] Emma Swan. [ When she finishes shaking his hand, she drops down onto the stool next to him. She is here she might as well just go with it for now. ]

So, have you been in here before? [ Maybe they have met each other in passing or something. ]

[ Well, meeting each other in passing seems to be out. If he has never even been to the city before. ] You traveling for work?

Traveling is what I do. [Not as such, specifically. He just doesn't stay in one place for long, and doesn't always return to the same places. At least not on a regular schedule.] I had a contract that brought me here.

Does that mean you won't be in town long? [ She is trying to judge how much she might regret taking him home tonight. If his job will be over and done in the next few days Emma won't have much to worry about. But if he is going to stick around for a few weeks it doesn't seem like a good idea. They way he makes her feel just being next to him is scary. She doesn't need the option of him hanging around and her trying to make it more than a one night thing.]

I won't be in town long. Just until I contract for new cargo. [Then he'll be off again, and who knows if he'll ever be back here again. He's got a little downtime right now, and he's looking for a way to fill it.]

You're a sailor? [ Well that's something new. That's not a profession that she comes across every day. Yet there is something familiar with the idea of it. ]

No, you're the captain, aren't you? [ Emma can't really say what brings her to that conclusion, but it feels right. Sailor is too plain for him, he is a captain. ]

Aye, and the shipowner as well. [Accountable to no one, and he sets his own rules. He accepts cargo and destinations as he wants, and shares his success with no one. Just like he shares the blame for his failures with no one.]

The owner too? [ She glances over at him with a slightly impressed expression. As much as people dream of being their own boss actually doing it and being successful at it is much more work than most people are willing to do. ] And I bet you work more hours than anyone on your crew, am I right?

[He takes a sip of his drink and sets it down on the bar again.] Of course I do. They load and unload the cargo and get the ship from one place to another. I oversee that and everything else that needs to be done. They can just enjoy their time in port. I still have to work.
