S P A C E ! !

Ever thought what it would be like to kick the dirt from your boots, board a starship and take off for galaxies unknown? Or maybe you were born in space, and have never even set foot on a planet's surface? Perhaps you're an explorer, charting the universe in search of treasure, knowledge, alien technology, or just for the thrill of it? Or maybe you're on the run from someone or something, and need a hiding place beyond the farthest star. The possibilities are, just like the universe, endless!!
PICK A PROMPT: or more than one!
◈ Military--you're an officer/grunt for whatever Fleet patrols your solar system, trusted with keeping the peace and ensuring all civilians follow intergalactic laws.
◈ Pirate--Stealing treasure and kidnapping for ransom isn't just for ocean-going brigands anymore!
◈ Mercenary--You've got a starship, a lot of guns, a cutthroat crew and will work for coin; ethics and morality are for those other jerks.
◈ Invader--We're taking your planet and we're taking it now! All your Base are belong to us!
◈ Defender--Oh no! Your planet is being invaded! What are you going to do, run and hide? Or take up arms and kick some alien ass!
◈ Smuggler--You know all the good spaceports, the planets where no questions are asked, and how to get around the laws and the intergalactic patrols to deliver the goods.
◈ Outlaw--Your mug is pasted in every port this side of the Milky Way. You're a lawbreaker and very Badge is looking to bring you in. Dead or Alive.
◈ Diplomat/Ambassador--Intergalactic politics can be cutthroat. Yet you manage to hold your own when it comes to peace talks between, not just nations, but entire planets.
◈ Alien--Where are you from again? Planet Xplgpr Prime? Oh, how--nice.
◈ Cyborg/AI--You're not even human, but a construct built for some elusive purpose. Find your niche in this wide, wide universe doing what you were programmed to do.
◈ Make your own!!

He really should have taken his ship in for a tune up before setting out on this voyage. This Milky Way system was too far off the normal routes for a pit stop, but necessity and a leak in one of the systems was making it so he was going to have to land on the first planet he could.
Some sort of reddish planet in the middle of the system was closest. Whatever planet it may be, it was certainly dusty. The smooth metal UFO lowered down to it's surface, navigating around a storm to settle in the dirt. The lights flickered and turned off before the gangplank came down.
And a cat walked down the gangplank, a bubble helmet on his head attached to his glowing collar. Zunar gave himself a shake, this place was truly awful.
....wait a minute, was that an outpost? Perhaps all was not lost. He stepped quickly towards it, curious to see who might be way out here in the middle of nowhere.

She was already in the gym at 0400, had been for a good hour, when her communicator beeped, signaling an alarm call. Forestalling a shower for the moment, Hill trotted through the tubeways to the quarters she shared with her partner, coding open the door and slinging her duffel inside.
"Get up, Beckett," she ordered in the direction of the bolted bunk-beds. "General quarters just sounded. We're due on the bridge in thirty." She flipped on the lights unmercifully. "Dibs on the shower."

[This is just meant to be a job. Why he's stealing things when that's well below the dignity of House Boltagon, well. Everyone has to make their fare to get back home from the far reaches of the galaxy somehow. Without Lockjaw Ahura is stuck. Unless he makes some quick cash to pay the fuel bill.
So when these shifty guys offered him a cut of their raid if he tagged along... An Inhuman does what he has to in all situations. Hunting down the space cruise ship had been easy enough. Shooting out its engines and disabling its communications had been harder, but do-able. Boarding had been a snag until he'd gotten impatient and pried the doors open himself with his telekinesis. Now was supposed to be the non-troublesome part:
Going around the ship and collecting passengers' valuables. Pressing the button to open the passenger suite door he holds out a bag with possibly the most disinterested face of any robber in space.]
Your stuff. Just put it in here so I can go already.
[This may not be the first rate pirate experience you were expecting, sorry.]
Roulette

But he needed something far away from Earth and Superman. Something calm and quiet. A luxury trip to the other side of the galaxy sounded like just the ticket. Of course, just when he was starting to think this might work out was when the ship had been rocked, the captain making a hasty announcement to remain calm, and then nothing.
Truth be told, he's not really all that surprised when his door slides open to reveal not one of the ship's obsequious crew but instead some new face. With his worn clothes and the bag he's carrying, it's not hard to guess what he's here for.]
You're wasting your time with me. Try the Psion three doors down.
[He has a feeling this guy already has, but it's worth making the effort. He really, really doesn't want this to get violent, but he also has something a pirate would probably want. Something he can't afford to give.]

Tch. I want your stuff too. That's what pirates do. They take everything. [Even the dining room forks. Especially the dining room forks. This might be an overly simplistic view of the world. Possibly.] You can either hand over your valuables or I can come in and take them myself.
[The slightest considering pause.]
And possibly skin you.
[Yeah. That seems like a pirate-y thing to do. He's so got this.]

You're going to have a tough time of it if skinning me's on the menu. [No boast, just a casual statement of fact. Sizing up the would-be pirate, he lets out a breath and slowly pulls his traveling bag out from under his pillow, fishes in it, and withdraws a sphere-shaped device. It looks heavy and expensive.]
Look, you can have everything else, but this is something I need to keep, okay? Take the rest if you really need it, it's not much, but this has to stay with me.
[He's polite about it, but this isn't something he's willing to negotiate on. Sorry, kid.]

[TIBERIUS; 6mos post-planetfall]
Tiberius was a long, long way from Earth, a long way from everything, and not at all where they had been going. The lush planet moon of Callisto was visible like a green jewel in the sky along with, Aurelius, the golden moon, and their parent planet, a medium sized gas giant, Ganymede V. The reason why Tiberius alone remained tidally locked while the other moons rotated normally was one of the reasons why the initial survey team had discarded the moon and turned to Callisto. Rich in water and compatible flora and fauna, it had been the perfect choice to send the colony ship Hyperion.
It would have been nice if they'd made it.
Instead, there they were on Tiberius, their ship scattered across the light side of the planet in rubble, nesting themselves in the deep ruins of a civilization long dead. And there was something out there with them, something in the dark that called out. Half the crew was dead, only a few of the ruling council remained. But they would endure because they were survivors, and there were too many questions.
Like the dreams the telepaths had or why they'd crashed or who had murdered two of the crew and the captain in flight. Too many questions. And twenty-three year old Rowena McKay, hyperlinguist and telepath, was now responsible for keeping the rest of them safe. It was her duty.
She stood watching the horizon where the split between light and dark began, her blue eyes narrowed as her reddish brown hair whipped in the wind. The storm was nearly here and dimmed the perpetual light - it was a relief, honestly. Trying to find a proper sleep pattern depended on the alien technology in the underground city they'd found, and controlling that had taken months of trial and error. A little like looking for signs of life on the horizon.
"Where is that scouting team?" she asked, raising her scanning binoculars to try and get a read on them. "If they're much later, I swear, I'm going after them."
