You'll outlive this person, it's a given. Their lifespan compared to yours is but a speck, an ant in the eyes of a god. You're immortal - or, at least, extremely long-lived - and they're doomed to die. Yet, somehow, you've begun to love them. Will you nip this in the bud and try to cut things out from the root...or will you let yourself be set up for inevitable loss?
how to play;
- Comment with your character and your preferences (ie, m/f, no smut, etc). Also, be sure to include what part your character will play, otherwise you become nearly impossible to tag.
- Reply to others.
- Use my prompts or make up your own.
prompts;
- unspoken: There's something between you that is more than platonic, and you both understand it though you've never discussed it.
- pursuit: Someone admits their feelings; an attempt at courtship may begin, though what qualifies as "courtship" or "dating" may differ between the two of you.
- push them away: You, the immortal, know you'll only watch the mortal die and no matter how you view them, you want them to look for someone better. So you'll try to drive them away from you.
- inexperienced experience: Despite your many, many, many years, you actually have no experience in romance...or in sex.
- unique show of affection: When you've been on this earth as long as you have, you may have ways to show your love that are beyond the norm.
- actually forbidden: Your long-lived race is forbidden from romantically fraternizing with the ones
- accept it: Damn all the consequences, you both know the risks. You want to be together.
- lovemaking: The obligatory smut option. Is it as you'd expect, or do your differences raise their heads here, too?
- differences: Speaking of differences, your cultures and your experiences sometimes clash. Do you work through them and learn from it or does one of you get frustrated?
- condescending: Despite your years, it's important to remember to not be patronizing to your partner.
- make the most: You only have a limited time together. Make every moment count.
- baby mine: The two of you have an offspring. Who do they take more after...and will they have their immortal parent's traits?
- come and go: A partner who has lived for centuries or longer may find themselves drifting away or finding they need to keep traveling as they always have, but they know there's always one place and one person they can return to.
- i watched you change: You can only watch them grow older and weaker. They may doubt your love now that they are not as young or beautiful as they once were. There is no need for that.
- the end of the line: Your love cannot keep them alive, but you will be with them in their last moments.

is two too much?
ooc
7 & maybe 8?
So when Ianto was attacked on a mission, Jack couldn't help himself but to hover near him the next day, or keep a constant eye on him. Strong his team might have been, but he'd lost too many to know take how fragile they could be for granted. ]
[ ooc: if I've godmodded, let me know. I can change things ]

Jack I'm fine, Owen's cleared me so there's no need for you to keep an eye on me.
no subject
I know, but... sometimes Owen's wrong. I just want to make sure you're not... sprouting spores or anything like that. There's a lot of weird stuff out there and it can infect people in a lot of strange ways.
And since when have you been opposed to me checking you out? You look good. Thought you'd be flattered.
no subject
[Though he understood where Jack was coming from as he always thought the same way, especially right after the much older man had come back from the dead.]
Honestly, I'm fine and if you truly feel the need to keep an eye on me then I suppose you'll be coming home with me too?
no subject
I guess I should, shouldn't I? Someone's got to change your bandages and check for oozing sores. I guess I could volunteer for that.
[ He wasn't sure he'd get much sleep, whether Ianto was awake or not, but how else was he going to make sure that he stayed safe? Maybe he'd find an excuse for him to hang back next mission. ]
It's just... you know I worry about you. All of you, of course but.. you most of all. You're important to me.
no subject
[The teasing was nice, he could visibly see Jack relax and it showed that Ianto hadn't been mentally effected by what had attacked him before a bright blush appeared on the younger man's cheeks. He knew that Jack loved him even if he would never say the actual word, Ianto just took what he could get from the words and compliments that he did actually receive instead.]
You're important to me too, Jack. We'll have to stop off at a supermarket on the way home, I wasn't expecting a guest aso I've only got coffee in.
no subject
[ He liked seeing Ianto embarrassed. He was always so tightly-buttoned down that it was nice to know he was still just as human as everyone else. But then, Jack had already enough reminders of that today. ]
That's fine. Maybe we can find something to make together, though, if I'm honest, my cooking's not exactly up to par, but it might be fun to try together. At least that way, if it's bad, it's no one's fault.
no subject
[Jack would be glad to hear about that as the Welshman knew just how much he hated the phone conferences with someone from UNIT.]
How about pasta? It's quick, easy and not too likely to burn my flat down.
no subject
Bureaucracy wasn't exactly what I thought I'd be doing with my life.
[ Ianto always had the best ideas, and pasta did sound good for now. ]
I like that. Let me know when you're ready to go.. or if you start to feel.. different, or like something's wrong. [ A sigh. ] I know you told me not to worry but.. just appease me this once? Please?

[Ianto moved to stand and gather his suit jacket from the back of his chair, draping it over his arm as he readied himself to leave for home.]
We can go now sir, if that's okay with you and of course you'll be the first to know if anything changes. [smiles over at the immortal.] If it truly makes you feel better then you may fuss over me as much as you like, Jack.
no subject
It does. Thank you. I don't get to have many nice things anymore, and I want to make sure I get to keep at least one.
[ He leaned in to give him a quick kiss on the lips and smile at him. ]
You're the nicest thing I've had in a long time.
no subject
Jack, I promise that I'll never leave you unless it is against my own will.
[The younger man reach up to gently and lovingly cup his boss' face, tenderly brushing his thumbs over Jack's cheeks before returning the soft kiss.]
Now lets go, I'm starving.
no subject
Lead the way.
[ He swept his arm in the direction of the lift with a grand, dramatic flourish and took his hand to follow him out. ]
no subject
[Ianto's words were said with a playfully teasing tone as he stepped onto the slab of stone that was Torchwood Three's invisible lift while slowly donning his suit jacket.]
no subject
[ He shot Ianto a playful little wink and proudly strode onto the lift himself. He'd certainly thought about doing just that and more on multiple occasions, but the tile was so small it could hardly be used for anything that good. ]
Would be quite the show for anyone who could see, of course.
no subject
[A bright blush spread across his cheeks at what the immortal had just said, the thought was actually more arousing than offensive but he wasn't about to let Jack know that.]
Then it's a good thing that no-one would be able to see and that the tile's a little small for the kind of dramatic kisses you like to pull off.
no subject
What, you wouldn't want to show off? Not even a little bit? You're very good-looking, you know. Especially in private moments. There's a kind of.. honesty about your face that I can't really get over. I like seeing you unbridled like that.
no subject
[Ianto bashfully rubbed the back of his head as he looked down at his shoes upon hearing Jack's words, to others what his boss had said would seem crude and harassing but the Welshman knew better and could hear the love, passion and truth behind them instead.]
I suppose anyone can look like that if they're with the right partner, with the one they truly love.
no subject
Yeah, I suppose anyone could, but they wouldn't look half as good as you do.
