Florence Nightingale Effect Meme

Florence Nightingale Effect Meme

1. Previously aloof tough character gets injured, lets the love interest treat their injuries, and reveals a newfound trust and intimacy. This might or might not involve the tough person making that hissing sound when the love interest touches their injured face, but not quite pulling away...

2. The love interest gets injured, and the tough character treats them and suddenly reveals a tender side.

It's an old trope, admittedly, but an understandable one. You're hurt - physically or emotionally - and perhaps even on the brink of death. And then, out of the blue, someone saves you and brings you back. They heal you, they feed you, cloth you, wash you. In the human mind, the intimacies can bring up warm feelings, even in the hardest of hearts. Will you fight them or let them grow? And what about when it's time to leave? You may not feel like leaving your angel...

HOW TO PLAY
1. Comment with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd prefer to play the healer or the healed - or both, for greatest versatility!
2. Reply to others.

NOT EXACTLY PROMPTS, BUT IDEAS
- The finding and saving
- The hurt/comfort care process, I.E. cleaning wounds, bathing, wrapping bandages, etc.
- Feeding, finding clothes, etc.
- Mother hen behavior ("you're still hurt, don't do that!")
- Comforting from trauma
- Unwilling patient
- Pulling away, trying to be all aloof
- Realization of growing emotions
- Denial
- Attempts to instigate something more
- Jealousy at seeing your savior with someone else
- Confessions
- Mutual attraction
- First (accidental or no) kiss
- Obligatory sex scene option
- Make your own scene

( it's an awful shirt, Hook, and she's awful for putting you in it, but come on. how many mens shirts is a girl supposed to have? she hands it over and crosses her arms as he pulls it over his head, managing a slip of a smile.

she'd almost think he looked cute, in his horrible tourist shirt... if she weren't completely and utterly immune to his charms. she kept telling herself that, but considering how much time they spent together? maybe she wasn't as immune as she thought. )

Sure. If anybody asks, you can tell them my bedside manner is definitely better than Whale's. ( she lifts her brows, wondering, ) Can you make it back to the B&B? I think I'll stick around here for awhile.

( alone, yes, but she does best when she's alone. )

[He slips his arm in, hook first, with far too much practice behind him to the point that he doesn't have to pay any mind to not damage the new shirt. Pulling it on him, on the other hand, is a bit of a task that he only winces through. His wound still hurt like hell, after all.

And yes, she was much better than Whale.]

Doing what? Hatching an escape plan?

[It's none of his business as to why she wants to hang back on her own, but he asks anyway for the simple fact that he can. And that it gets under her skin. And that he doesn't want to leave her side right now.]

I'm not escaping anywhere until we deal with this witch problem. ( as much as she might like to bail, she can't. even though she doesn't have her magic, she won't leave everyone in danger. she's hurt but she's not heartless, she doesn't want her new sibling to be ripped away. she doesn't want everything they know to be wrenched away and changed thanks to Zelena's plans.

she's actually not doing anything particularly remarkable. her shoulders deflate a little, because the fact is she could take him back to the B&B, but then what? Henry is with Regina, she'd be sitting in the room alone. at least here she can pretend to be productive. )

There are some books about magic Belle left me. Maybe I can find something that will help.
