[it really shouldn't surprise him that wraith don't have any paternal instincts of any kind really. at least, not as far as he's seen. sheppard supposes he should be grateful the baby is too small to be even a light snack.

but when he'd been contacted, todd sounding incredibly perturbed by the whole thing, and the entire hive seemed to be on edge from all the wailing going on---well, john had to wonder how they happened upon the kid all alone.

you know what? nevermind. he can figure it out, and even if it isn't what he thinks---it's still probably in the realm of Not Good.

it's still a little weird to walk through a hive with impunity, more or less. even though he knows the hive is todd's. but he comes up on the room with the baby, and no amount of soundproofing is doing it. even sheppard's ears are close to bleeding, but he did a good enough job with torren, so---he can give it a shot at least. he shoulders his weapon, securing it so it won't swing free, and carefully moves to pick up the squalling child. he's careful to support his head and body properly.]
