- NB: Daemons are usually the opposite gender of their human (or however you want to interpret that) and are entirely flexible up until adolescence (so kids' have ones what change and anyone who's already hit puberty is in a settled form).

SCENARIOS
1. Congratulations! Your dæmon's just settled. Granted this might require you to be young but what else can you do? Are you happy? Disappointed? Surprised?

2. But I knew him... You've gone away, and someone can recognize you - or at least your dæmon. It's hard to be sneaky with dæmons. How do you disguise yourself?

3. Everyone does terrible things. You have to do something terrible: kill, maim, hurt, torture, something else awful. But there's dæmons now.

4. Everyone does awesome things. You have to do something awesome: kill, maim, h-- explore, assist, educate, create, something else amazeballs. But there's dæmons still.

5. Sex Option (with dæmons in it) Navigate it, there are very specific rules for sexual relations - and souls and all that jazz. This is the smutty option.

6. WILDCARD Make up a thing. Put dæmons in it. Put panserbjørne in it. That's basically the whole meme, bro.

Yugi Mutou | Yu-Gi-Oh!

[ Like most teenagers, Yugi's dæmon hadn't settled into one form yet in high school. In his early teenage years, Wadjet (named so by his grandfather's dæmon due to his inclination towards Egyptian mythology) usually took the form of something small and unassuming, like a butterfly or a mouse, to avoid gaining negative attention from bullies. After completing the Millennium Puzzle, however, she began to take larger forms, though they still tended to be nonthreatening creatures, usually dogs. (Sometimes, people thought they could see the obscure form of a second dæmon alongside Wadjet, and although rumors spread, it was ultimately brushed off as impossible that Yugi Mutou could have two dæmons.)

The day he laid the puzzle to rest is also the day Wadjet finally settled into a form. The irony was not lost on him that she ultimately became a great dane who was probably bigger across than Yugi was high. His friends, while teasing him, said it must be because of his courage and huge heart. She's incredibly affectionate and social, and enjoys climbing onto his friends' laps, forgetting how huge she is. (Since dæmons rarely let people other than their human touch them, the fact that Yugi's dæmon allows and seek out touch from them is proof of the absolute trust they have in their friends). Some days, though, she does nothing but pace the floor and bat the air, almost as if she's trying to find something that's no longer there.

Bruce Banner | MCU

[ Marie was Bruce's only companion when he went on the run, and like Bruce, she is adjusting to being around others for long periods of time again. She's quiet and observant, but incredibly loyal to both Bruce and her new-found friends. When Bruce transforms into the Hulk, Marie also transforms - into a lioness about the size of a car. ]

There was a worktable set aside for Bucky in the lab, because learning everything he could about the arm and being able to do routine maintenance himself had been instrumental in pulling him out of his shell, at least a little.

It probably also helped that Bruce and Tony didn't look at him with the same combination of pity and absolute horror that other people did when they realized that his daemon wasn't just hiding, but nonexistent.

It had been a rough night, he'd only gotten a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep, and a few more often-interrupted hours, and had finally given up on the endeavor entirely, taking the elevator to the lab, because maybe going through a routine check would bore him enough to let him sleep. He stopped short at the door, however, realizing that it wasn't empty like he'd thought it would be at that hour, "Oh. Sorry. Didn't know anyone else was up."

[ Sam Winchester was born without a dæmon. In their world, this was completely unheard of, and it instantly set his father on edge, wondering what could be wrong with his son. Growing up, he told all his friends and teachers that is dæmon was a very shy spider that didn't like to leave his pocket to avoid drawing attention to himself, but his lack of a dæmon always made him feel like a freak.

They learned much later that Sam did have a dæmon - it had just been born inside of him rather than outside like everybody else. When Castiel rescued Sam from the Cage, he unknowingly left his soul behind - his dæmon, which Lucifer and Michael had separated from him. After being reunited with his soul, Sam had to learn how to live with it outside his body rather than inside of it.

Ignis is a dark crimson dragon. She is about the size of a tiger, has four legs and a pair of wings. Even though having a dragon dæmon is incredibly rare, that is not the most notable thing about her: she is a creature that has been ripped apart and put back together again, and it shows. Her scales and skin carry innumerable and grotesque scars, and although he may have been beautiful once, she is difficult to look at now. Despite the fact that's she's battered and won, she's incredibly affectionate and often seeks out physical contact from Sam and other dæmons. ]

[ A lot of people think Natasha's daemon is a spider, just like her namesake; others believe she doesn't have one at all. SHIELD has (>had) vigorous training protocols including a hush-hush three month exercise in separation between daemon and human — maybe that's why she's the best, because she's never had to deal with the agony of being split from one.

But that's not true. Stepan is never far, a yellowjacket wasp nestled behind her ear or somewhere in the red of her hair. He's private for a reason, exactly like Natasha, and he hardly speaks to anyone. Even when she's practicing with her throwing knives he's never far, sitting contentedly on the underside of her free wrist.

[Was it weird? That one of the more interesting things about "Natalie" had been the apparent total lack of a daemon? He knew girls like this, he'd thought. Their daemons weren't always flashy, but they were almost always at the forefront, trying to be noticed, just like the girls themselves. Later, obviously, when he'd known what she really was, it made more sense.

Except now, even after working on the same team for months, the challenge is figuring out where he is all the time. He's finally managed to convince Mercedes to go on a little fluttering spy mission, and as he lets her out of the armor she hops up and flies around Natasha, just barely outside the realm of common daemon decency as she swoops around and loops back to him with a frustrated little huff. No dice.]
