The Lap Pillow Meme

From TV Tropes: A good way to show the physical intimacy and trust which a couple have is to rest one's head on the other's lap. Usually, the man does the resting while the woman provides the lap, not only because of anatomical reasons but because the lap-owner is typically of a nurturing nature more associated with femininity. Bonus points if she's feeding him grapes or stroking his hair. In some cases this is done between people who are not necessarily lovers, to comfort someone who is weeping or injured.

Or, in the case of the meme: screw the rules, we'll do anything. Maybe they're tired and just found a good place to rest? Maybe both parties were asleep? Hard to tell. All we know is, someone's head is going to be on another person's lap. Shenanigans will ensue.

[there have been very few moments milly has had the chance to share with suzaku, and only suzaku. it wasn't that she didn't love having her family all together-- that was never the case. each one of them meant something different to her, brought something new and fantastic to their unit, made their group's adventures that much richer. suzaku himself brought a gentleness none of them possessed paired with undying, ferocious loyalty. and for a bunch like them, being willing to stick with them meant quite a bit...

but now, it's just the two of them, and this is a moment she gets to have with no one but him. it's a quiet moment, rare for milly, but she knows that suzaku appreciates a bit of peace, and she'll give it to him. he'd come to her room and brought her an envelope-- a note from lelouch? a love letter? an invitation meant to be from lloyd but was actually from cecile?-- but she hadn't had the heart to open it. besides, she was more interested in the handsome boy in her room. (a pretty common occurrence, but suzaku was different somehow...) taking a seat on her bed, she had offered him the spot besides her, but only for her to put her head in his lap and lay there in relative silence. she'd had the opportunity to see his real smile as he saw the ganymede for the first time, witness his confusion as she measured him for his cat costume and all costumes after, experience his laugh after a terrible joke of hers, and now, know what it was like to share an easy silence with him. and it was wonderful.

[being a student council member was difficult-- take it from the president. an ordinary council would budget and plan and work their asses off for the students, but a milly ashford council ran the school, dragged the students into the weirdest situations they'd ever be in, planned events so much bigger than one might ever dream of. their hard work paid off, of course. an education at ashford academy was unlike any other. but it was still exhausting.

as such, milly found herself and her friends looking weary-- still an attractive bunch, but with bags under their eyes. upon realising this, ashford academy council group naps were in order, declared by the president herself. more than that, the council room had become a pillow fort, with the table pushed to the side and a few mattresses taking its place. and while milly knew not all of them would listen to her, or participate, she knew at least half of them would have a sense of humour and indulge her.

and yet, they all did. even nunnally was there, resting right beside lelouch. it was touching, to see her family so peaceful and snuggled up together. she couldn't tell if all of them were asleep-- lelouch and suzaku would be the obvious offenders-- but she was content in the silence they had. rivalz was sprawled out next to her, nina was curled in the fetal position close to her, kallen was on her stomach, with suzaku near her feet and laying on his back, and shirley's head had found its way to milly's lap, with the blonde running her fingers through the younger girl's hair. even in her drowsy daze, she knows that she wants to remember this moment forever, the peace they've created in the name of fun.]

( it’s really too nice of a day to stay indoors, so when the president suggests they take the council meeting outside she doesn’t object—though, she supposes that even if most of the club did milly would still find a way to troop them all outside.

in theory it was a nice idea, but something about the summer air makes them restless, and it only takes a matter of minutes for the meeting to dissolve. lelouch is the first to leave, which she should have expected, but it’s only to fetch nunnally who he says with a fond enjoys the sunlight. and really she can’t begrudge him for that. where lelouch goes, suzaku is likely to follow, and the other boy dusts the grass of his knees before trailing behind. she watches them leave with a certain amount of fondness, for the both of them she realizes with a start. she likes suzaku, how earnest he seems, and how he seems to fit in with the rest of the club easy as breathing.

she resolves to water balloon anyone who tries to make fun of him again, edge him out of ashford with teasing and writing on his locker. they could even make it a club activity, protect the newbie, she thinks.

soon enough rivalz begs off, to run matinenced on his scooter, which she has to laugh at because he takes care of the thing like it’s his own child. nina makes her quiet excuses to go back inside, which makes sense, as the other girl’s pale skin had already began to blotch with heat.

when they’re all gone, except for her and milly of course, she flops down onto the grass, hair splayed like a red halo. the sun feels nice on her face, though she wishes she were laying on something just a tad more comfortable. )

So much for that, huh? ( lightly: ) Maybe we should find some new recruits who actually show some dedication?

( or at least stick around for the duration of the meetings. )

[In spite of the strong front Athrun puts on, he has problems. The past four years have not been kind to him, and he's been through far more than anyone should have, even for a soldier. [They had said it was a study date, but the actual studying had been rather quickly abandoned in favor of making out, sitting in the floor of Rin's dorm and devouring each other's lips. They both have tests coming up, but they're in their good subjects and neither are worried about it, really.

So the pretense of the study date was quickly dropped in favor of actual dating things. Now they're on Rin's bunk watching a romance movie on his laptop.

Rei hadn't really been surprised when Rin leaned his head on his shoulder, but when his head had lowered to his lap, that caught him a little more off guard. Not because it wasn't okay, but because... it was unexpectedly endearing.

Rei lays a hand on Rin's shoulder, welcoming him easily.]
