I still don't see much in the way of justice when it comes to you! [ He at least managed to yell that out as the masked figure turned away. And now that Gino had managed to vent that much out of his system, he turned away as well and went about getting everything ready that he needed for this mission. He planned on serving Empress Nunnally well, so aside from that little outburst, he would try to behave when it came to dealing with Zero.

Something about this one bothered him more than the last one, though.

Once they were all prepped and loaded up on the carrier, Gino still felt a nagging sensation over all of this and soon found himself wandering over towards the command center, finding Zero there. He paused, took a breath, and then closed the distance between them, throwing his arm heavily against the man's shoulder.

While he did this with good intentions to everyone, he had also started realizing that not everyone liked it. Maybe he just wanted to get under Zero's skin if that were the case here. ]

So to answer your question: I'm not the type to let what people think about the people I spend my time with be a judgment on me. My pride's my own and in myself. You couldn't affect that if you wanted to. Then again... [ And that was when Gino decided to lean in, his brow in a firm line of annoyance as he gave Zero a deadpan stare. ]

[ Gino's parting shot made pain blossom in Suzaku's chest (pain was a familiar, familiar thing, even if the cause this time was the loss of somebody who had sacrificed literally everything he had ever had, or could ever have, for this justice Gino wasn't seeing); but it made pride rise in there, too. Not because he had any part in how Gino had become the person he was now - he had no illusions of placing himself as anyone's mentor, not even Gino's - but he had once been somebody Gino had looked up to, anyway. When Gino found him again--

When Gino found him again, he was wrapped in a familiar half-hug. Almost closer than anyone had been to him in months, and the one exception was when Nunnally let him carry her the short distances she sometimes did. To bed, and to her chair in the mornings, mostly.

It may have gotten under his skin once, too. However, unlike before, now Suzaku knew that Gino didn't even mean it a little bit. The factor that had discomfited him before, the affection that came so easily to the blond and that Suzaku most definitely did not deserve, was gone now. He didn't even turn the helmet to 'face' that familiar look. ]

Simply the man who made sure your execution did not come to pass, Sir Weinberg. The man who made sure that the rightful ruler sat on the throne of Britannia. Of the world. [ His voice didn't waver at that, because he did believe if anyone should have the throne, it was Nunnally, and yet...

Yet, he realized, nobody here, nobody anywhere they could trace, knew exactly what Lelouch had done, to bring about the peace and hope their world now had. How much he had sacrificed. Nobody else needed to know of exactly how Charles and Marianne had died. Why they had.

Especially not Nunnally.

So maybe he had to live, now, to remember.

He let is words hang in the air for a moment, then gracefully slipped away from Gino's arm. ]

But let us not mar the peace that our Empress wishes for. [ He made indulgent amusement leak into is voice, and for a moment he hated himself more than usual for how much he sounded like Lelouch. ] I doubt that you enjoy displeasing her any more than the rest of us do.

[ Gino grimaced at the man's words, and he didn't want to stop to replying to them. Of course he had no interest in displeasing Empress Nunnally. If anyone deserved the utmost respect in the world, it was her.

His eyes narrowed as he watched after the man who'd turned away from him. ]

You really are different. Not Lelouch. [ Of course. Lelouch had been the one to get stabbed. Even if he somehow managed to escape that (and Gino had no clue how that could even be possible), why would he go back to being Zero after having been the Emperor of the whole world? ]

But it's like you know everything he'd say just to get under someone's skin. It kind of pisses me off. [ Maybe someone had been spending too much time around Kallen and her friends lately. ]

I'm Zero. [ With his back turned to Gino, and the helmet on, nobody could tell that his eyes were squeezed shut, and the blond wouldn't see the fist clenched in front of him. No, he was not Lelouch. But he missed his friend so damn much, right now. ] How can a Knight be a Knight of Justice without knowing things?

How do you know your anger isn't what you'd be judged for, if such a time came?

[ It was unfair to worry Gino like that. Nunnally's world... Nunnally's empire. It was a different thing, and Zero was there as a safeguard, not a judge. Not anymore. But he wanted. He wanted those blue eyes away from him, and he didn't know how to make that happen. So he tried to poke it away with something sharp and pointy.

Stupid. Stupid.

He tried on a smile for size; it might look false, but nobody would see it, and it was enough to sound like one. ]

Of course, maybe not, as I only kind of piss you off.
