Most societies have certain mores that are unspoken rules; humanity itself even has such conventions, grilled subconsciously into our minds for our own safety. Don't go out alone at night. Society's rules tend to be more variable, though they apply to most aspects of life - including sex. In fact, bending the rules on what's considered acceptable in romance and sexual encounters can lead to anything from ostracization to death, depending on the time and culture.

[ Dick stretches across Bruce's front, not bothering to put distance between them as he reaches for another tart. He takes a large bite out of it, chewing and swallowing before speaking. ]

You just want Alfred to yell at me. [ He picks a crumb off his shirt and sucks it off his thumb. ] Don't think I don't see through you.

[ he doesn't react outwardly to the press of dick's lean chest against his shirtfront, doesn't blink when he dusts crumbs from his collar. ]

Well, good to know somebody in this house still has a chance of making you behave.

If only you'd put me over your knee more before, huh.

[ He grins cheekily up at Bruce, steadfastly ignoring the way his words just barely skirt this side of inappropriate--especially considering how he's still perched comfortably in Bruce's lap. ]

C'mon, B. Have a tart.

[ of course, in the short time he’d known the boy he’d never laid a hand on him, and he’s pretty sure the pennyworths never did either. doesn’t mean he hasn’t thought about it, but then, bruce comes from a different era, when the prospect was a threat to misbehaving children and not a temptation for grown young men.

the corner of his mouth, once flat, rolls upwards. ]

[ Well yes, it's a temptation. But just look at Bruce--no jury could convict him. ]

It's not gonna do you much good later if you starve yourself now.

[ He waves the tart he'd taken a bite out of at Bruce, holding it up to Bruce's face. ]

I can make airplane noises if you want?

[ he gives dick another level look that maybe reads you should’ve been in your room five minutes ago, then leans forward. there’s an exasperated warm breath over dick’s fingers, a flash of teeth that end in points, and then he’s taking a clean bite out of the tart without so much as a brush of his mouth against skin. small victories. ]

Satisfied?

[ His breath catches in his chest as Bruce leans forward, Dick not daring to breathe until Bruce has pulled away. He's disappointed, he isn't afraid to admit to himself, had hoped to feel at least, maybe, a brush of skin.

And really, how does the man eat a tart so cleanly? ]

We have an early morning tomorrow, Dick. You should get some rest.

[ He leans his head against a broad shoulder, still waving the remainder of the tart in front of Bruce. ]
