It's a little like that movie Pixels but with 100% less Adam Sandler

THE STUCK IN A VIDEO GAME MEME

Video games. We love 'em. You love 'em. Let's get stuck in them. ...Wait.

This meme is the considerably more fantastical version of the "Playing Games" meme. Except this time, you and someone else are now STUCK in the game, and now your only hope to get out again is to finish the main story. Or get the high score, depending on what's more applicable. Note that this does not necessarily have to be an EXISTING game, if you would find it simpler to make up your own. But it CAN be, which naturally might make things a little complicated for, you know, actual video game characters.

Anyway. You probably know the rules at this point, but here's a refresher:

1.) Post with your character.
2.) When you reply to someone, roll from the options below.
3.) Congratulations! You are now stuck in that game. Feel free to pick a specific one if you want, or make up your own random-ass game.
4.) We hold no responsibility for how you and your friend(s?) completely derail the storyline.

OPTIONS:

1. Dating Sim (eg. Tokimeki Memorial, Katawa Shoujo): The question is, are you getting hit on by the main jerk, or are you the aforementioned jerk? And if so... what does that make your buddy?

2. Japanese RPG (eg. Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Tales of): Carefully crafted narratives which you're probably going to mess up the moment you step out of the king's chamber. Welp.

3. Western RPG (eg. Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Wizardry): WHY DOES EVERYBODY ASK YOU TO DO EVERYTHING FOR THEM EVER.

4. Management Sim (eg. Evil Genius, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Simcity): You will probably want to consider your road budget a bit more when the short-tempered man in charge isn't stuck behind a computer screen.

5. Beat'em'up (eg. Final Fight, River City Ransom, God Hand): But why DO all these goons look the same ANYWAY?

6. First Person Shooter (eg. Doom, Medal of Honor, Half-Life 2): Sure, you're surrounded by a bunch of horrible flesh-eating monsters, but you've got a pretty sweet gun there, so it's kind of a trade-off.

7. Adventure Game (eg. The Walking Dead, Monkey Island, King's Quest): Turns out when you're not restricted by event flags, your options on how to resolve your issues expands dramatically...

8. Platformer (eg. Super Mario Bros, Rayman, I Wanna Be the Guy): The platforms are floating in mid-air. Don't ask questions, just jump.

9. Strategy (eg. Starcraft, Civilization, Total War): Command great armies and vast kingdoms, and promptly drive them into the ground.

10. Survival Horror (eg. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space): Alternatively, just treat this like pretty much any Dreamwidth RP ever.

11. Puzzle (eg. Puyo Puyo, Chu Chu Rocket, 2048): Fighting each other with the power of LOVE... and dropping blocks.

12. Fighting Game (eg. Street Fighter, Tekken, King of Fighters): Does this game have a support team mechanic? No? Sucks to be you two.

13. Shoot-em-up (eg. Gradius, Touhou, Tyrian): You think dodging the bullets in 2D was bad, wait until you try it in 3D.

14. Metroidvania (eg. Metroid, Symphony of the Night, La Mulana): We have to go all the way back WHERE?!

15. Classic Arcade (eg. Frogger, Pac-Man, Lunar Lander): This is pretty much the point where trying to create a logical setting starts to break down half the time. Just go with it.

16. Sports (eg. Tecmo Bowl, NBA Jam, Mario Kart): Screw you and your dang blue shells.

17. Visual Novel (eg. Fate/Stay Night, Higurashi no Koro Ni, Dangan Ronpa): Try not to skip straight to the contractually obligated porn scenes, thanks.

18. Action Adventure (eg. Zelda, Okami, Dark Souls): And if Zelda, try to figure out who gets stuck with the green tunic.

19. Block-Builder Sandbox (eg. Terraria, Minecraft, Lego Worlds): Build your dream home, and then watch it get destroyed by the enemies.

20. COMBO: Pfft. Like video games stick to one particular genre anymore. Roll TWO numbers and see what you get.

21: Wildcard/Other: For anything I might have missed.

[rUDE. well, she thinks she's got a bit of your number, so let's just...flitter...right in his face, with hands on hips]

Now, you listen here! We are on a very important mission, and they get detoured easily enough with trying to help everybody on the street who lost their shoe! I can't imagine what they're out there doing without my supervision - why, I can't speak for the trouble they're getting in to!

Of course, if I could just find them, we could be on our way!

[read; do you really want a group of heroes being a pain in your ass, sir]
ganon: (▲ Deny me then; you and your friend.)

[personal profile] ganon 2015-07-08 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Wow, hello. Ganondorf's just going to subtly lean back a little when she flitters right up in his face, and that grimace he's got says he's awfully tempted to take a swat at her. ...Buuut then it turns into a grin, and then a sinister laugh.]

Ah, what a tragedy. More pitiful heroes who can't function without their little companions. I think it'll be more interesting if I keep you here, don't you?

[Read: Ganondorf is too much of an arrogant jerk to think of the consequences for his actions.]
flyingfairy: (random events)

[personal profile] flyingfairy 2015-07-08 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[UGH. seriously, guy? Airy crosses her arms and huffs as she moves back, very much not okay with how this is going]

Only if you want the world to be destroyed! For all I know, me being here means 'Hyrule' is in just as much danger as Luxendarc!

If you won't help me, then I'll just find someone who will. See if I don't!

[okay now where's that window she came in through]
ganon: (▲ What you hold is useless.)

[personal profile] ganon 2015-07-08 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
If there is something out there that can match the might of the great Demon King, I welcome them to try.

[Epic battles and conquering rivals is what Ganondorf lives for. As is, apparently, harassing little fairies. Too bad he's not aware there's more than meets the eye with this one. With a sweep of his hand, the windows and the massive double doors leading to the throne room slam shut with enough force to make it shudder. Ohhh, no you don't, Airy.]

Don't think I'll make this easy for you.
flyingfairy: (and follow the signs)

[personal profile] flyingfairy 2015-07-08 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[note to self; only work with small children from now on. MUCH easier to manipulate. Airy's just about to head through that window when it slams, the bit of air knocking her back-]

Oh!

[-and by the sound and looks of things, so did all the other exits.

well

crap.

she probably could get out of here if she really, really wanted to, but- 'Demon King'? that, and the sheer power she can feel radiating off of him...

she makes an unhappy sound, sitting on the sill of the window and staring down at him with arms still crossed. may as well keep things up for a while longer, while she still has the option;]

Would the God of Destruction count? I really don't care what you're King of, but they're the sort who thinks it's fun to destroy things because them existing is boring!
ganon: (▲ Nothing to change my mind.)

[personal profile] ganon 2015-07-08 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[The show is quite amusing, Ganondorf can't deny that. A low, rumbling chuckle echoes through the hall as he steps down off the dais, approaching Airy. It's true, senseless destruction isn't necessarily the name of the game for him. There would be nothing left to conquer if he - or anyone else - destroyed it all.

Still... arrogance galore.]

Gods already have tried and failed to destroy me many times, but I possess their power on top of my own. [Not all of it, but with a well-placed Game Over, that could change.] If you expect to inspire fear in me, you waste your breath.
flyingfairy: (but you can't be sure)

[personal profile] flyingfairy 2015-07-08 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't know.

[sorry Ganon, were you trying to inspire fear back? she continues looking unhappy, but there's a certain fearlessness that's kind of disturbing. mainly because it's not stemming from any sort of courage- just an absolute lack of concern.]

I just think it'd be hard to rule over a bunch of nothing.
ganon: (▲ You have long amused me.)

[personal profile] ganon 2015-07-12 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, he does enjoy intimidating people. Most Hylians are whiny cowards, so he sometimes... forgets there are people who aren't beyond the Hero. He's astute enough, though, to note that fearlessness. How curious.]

Let it try, then. [He don't care. Fight me, God of Destruction.] That's an interesting change in demeanor, fairy.
