No, not that Airplane. Maybe. I mean, possibly.

So you can't walk from Point A to Point B. That's a bummer. What's not a bummer is that you live (or somehow have been dragged into) the amazing age of commercial flight! Huzzah! Now to just brave the lines, misplace your passport, get stopped by security, have a six hour delay for a 40 minute flight... all the best and most fantastic things of all that tick a person's stress level right up to 11.

Definitely the best time to form connections with your fellow human (or what have you).

[ Kanade snickers, heading over to a machine with two sets of headphones and two large foam microphones attached to it. ] Then - you get to go first.

[ HAVE A MICROPHONE, ENERGETIC TINY PERSON.

It looks like the object of this game is to follow along with a song as it plays. You get points for rhythm, mostly, though if you're too off-key points are deducted....but that won't stop you, right? You're totally okay with going first, right? Even if that means she gets to size up the competition before she goes, right??

This is what Tsubasa always calls "being mean". ]

Ehhhh?! Right now?! That's-!

[... KANADE YOU JERK.

Hibiki was half expecting her to go first, then by doing that... She'd could enjoy her singing personally before anyone else. But being thrown into this situation, well... It wasn't like Hibiki didn't do karaoke in sometimes.

It was one thing if she was singing with friends, but another if her idol is standing right there. Well, she's take the microphone and wait for the song to start... Deep breathes, Hibiki. Deep breathes.]

["Don't think, just sing."

... Right. As long as she just follows the lyrics, then she'd do fine. Whenever the song starts, Hibiki starts to sing along almost like it was natural. But it wasn't to say that she sounded like a professional songstress or anything!

Her singing itself sounds awkward and a bit rough... But there's definitely determination to fist and she's putting a lot of heart behind her words. Compared to an idol who sung in front of crowds, Hibiki knew that a karaoke game would be child's play. But it'd be a disservice to Kanade if she didn't give it her best shot.]

[ Kanade stays off to one side while Hibiki sings, arms crossed and following along with the display flashing on the screen. Her poker face is looks exactly like her normal face, so she won't reveal what she thinks of the "competition" while Hibiki's so focused on her performance, but there's a finger tapping in time to the beat and every now and then, something that might be humming escapes from her throat.

You have an extremely attentive audience for your debut, Miss Tachibana. No pressure. ]

[If it's not the singing, then it's her pure energy that's attracting a small crowd over. She might have been more meek if she realized that people were watching. But right now... She's too absorbed in enjoying the song and pushing her own vocal cords to pay attention to what's happening in the background. And since she knew that Kanade was watching, she just had to try and break her limits.

Whenever the song reaches the climax, Hibiki will pump his fist up and shout like she's trying to break the roof open with the sound of her voice. Then the music finally ends as she looks rather satisfied. Her back is still facing away from the screen as she's waiting for the final verdict.]

C'mon, c'mon... Show me the score! [And the machine ranks her a B.] --A B?! That's the first time I've ever made a score like that! I normally get Cs!

Maybe it's broken? [ But from the smile on her face, Kanade doesn't think so.

She holds out her hand for the mic. With this many people around, if she starts singing there really won't be any way to stay incognito, but Kanade has decided she doesn't care about that. Tsubasa lecturing her will give something her partner to do on the plane. ] Good job. Your song got through to me loud and clear.

[ She winks. They've had opening acts in arenas that weren't that pumped up, but this kid's passion doesn't deserve to be considered something that tides people over until a main event. She stood on her own, belted out her guts on her own, and is passing that torch on to Kanade now. So the older girl has to honor that. ] I won't waste your momentum.

[Somehow, it felt really good to know that all of her karaoking had been paying off for this very moment. Now Hibiki couldn't see herself becoming an idol anytime soon even if she had the potential. Just watching Zwei Wing in the crowd was more than enough for her. But despite that... It almost felt like this was the closest she'd get to performing on stage with one of them. If only Tsubasa was here to see this too!]

Ehehe... [She'll hold up a peace sign as she passes on the mic.] I was just warming up the stage for you, really! The real show is starting now!

[With that, she'll step back into the little crowd starting up and gets some comments like "Are you friends with Zwei Wing!?" and "Have you considered becoming an idol?" and "You've got a really healthy voice!"]

[ ....well, when the competition itself puts it that way...Kanade nods. ] Right!

[ She shouts into the mic while picking a song. All of Zwei Wing's songs are for two voices, so even though the machine has a few she'd feel weird handling both parts....Guess she's doing a cover. ] All right, people! Are you ready to get pumped?!

[ This is basically the opposite of wearing a hat in public. She should not be allowed out without an escort. But the song is starting, and it's Kanade's stage.

She attacks the opening lines with enough gusto that no one ought to guess that singing alone just isn't the same. ]

[Whatever compliments are thrown her way, Hibiki just shakes them off by saying that she's nothing compared to the actual singer up there. Though she does take a second to ponder on the fact that her own singing managed to bring in some people and they were acknowledging her in good ways because of that. It even sounded like Kanade was acknowledging her potential too...

But it's too bad that she's not always the brightest bulb and self-esteem issues didn't help either. Still, it felt pretty nice...

For a moment, Hibiki looked energetic as the crowd was whenever Kanade starts singing. But eventually, it fades away to something more contemplative. It's not that she didn't think that Kanade's singing was good, but... It's not truly Zwei Wing if her partner wasn't there with her.

Kanade's song felt a little lonely to her.]

[ Kanade gets more progressively into the song as it continues - she's singing for two right now, so she has to make sure this really goes above and beyond her usual performance - but that feeling still persists. The audience helps, though. Having people, actual people, listening to her songs has always helped.

For the end of the song, she turns around, dances in place, and strikes a pose - the better to get said audience hyped. A check for her "competition's" reaction, and -

Huh. That's....

That's food for thought. Enough that she misses the chirping noise behind her saying her score's ready. ]

[The audience was going wild from her performance and Hibiki takes one last look at Kanade's expression to completely make up her mind. It might have been a very impulsive (maybe even selfish) thing to do, but it felt right for her. So with a determined expression, she'll walk up to her like it's the most natural in the world...

And simply takes Kanade's hand into both of hers for a hold.]

Kanade-san! Let's sing together!

[BLUNT AS A HAMMER.]

and then tsubasa finds kanade singing with SOMEONE ELSE...

Kanade misses getting to see her score, thereby rendering the whole competition aspect of this moot. But there are two mics attached to this machine. So.

After some confused (partially thoughtful) blinking, she grins. ] You better not fall behind!!

[ The crowd goes wild. ]

[With that, Hibiki is grabbing onto the next mic with her enthusiasm completely back. Singing with Kanade was one thing, but singing together with her?! She was totally going to brag about this to Miku (for better or worst) whenever she saw her again.]

Hehe... Let's show them what we're made of! Alright, here we gooo!

[Any worries about keeping up with Kanade wasn't there because just holding hands and singing together with her like this? It just reminded Hibiki that she was a normal girl too.]

[ The kid hasn't dropped her hand. Kanade doesn't quite get what's up with that, but it's not a bad feeling so she doesn't pull away.

The song is more important anyway. And this girl's not too bad at harmonizing.

They're drawing more of a crowd than ever....but also potentially drowning out flight announcements. What was their flight number, again? ]

[Kanade might have not understood, but Hibiki felt like she needed to. She was all alone up on stage, so Hibiki wanted to ease that burden just a little. And besides, she was a wild and loose girl who couldn't keep her hands to herself.

Now that was a good question! Hibiki was so lost in the excitement that there was a small nagging feeling in the back of her mind. Maybe it was just because she was getting hungry again.]

[ This is, of course, one of those proper songs that lulls a bit at the final bridge and then explodes for the last refrain, so clearly everything else at this airport is moot. Utterly moot.

Traffic is blocked, bystanders are jockeying to be the first in line for autographs, Kanade's cover is completely blown, and she's focused on the song and the energy from the crowd so she could absolutely not care less.

And since they've got their hands together anyway, she might as well pump hers in the air at the last beat of the song, dragging the other girl's arm up with her. Work with her here! This is their moment of glory!

Uuup we go! ]

[Hibiki is going to throw her hand up along with Kanade's as she waves to the crowd. It was reasons like this why she could believe that sunlight existed between two people. Getting this kind of attention really wasn't that bad compared to the negative publicity she got in the past. To say that her ego is getting a boost is an understatement.]

Oh man...! Please keep the cheering coming, everyone! We can be here all day!

[And now, she'll glance over to Kanade.]

Do you think I'll get to sign autographs too?

[ This kid just keeps surprising her. Kanade looks down at the tiny bundle of expectations standing next to her. ] ....You are somethin' else.

[ Over the swarm of people beginning to mob Kanade (Hibiki will mostly get people asking her things like "are you a new idol?" "a surprise concert?" "did you win a contest?"), an announcement on the intercom can faintly be overheard. "....lease proceed to your gate. Repeat, the delayed flight to Lon..." ]

[OH CRAP.

OH CRAP.

Hibiki goes wide eyed and lets out a yelp once she hears the sounds of the intercom. That's what she forgot about!]

Oh no! Trip! Flight! London! Concert! Kanade-sanwegottago!

[Granted, Hibiki just said all of that in literally under a second. Making quick haste, she'll be tugging Kanade along as she's working her way through the sea of people and once they're free, she'll wave back towards them.]

U-um... Thanks for coming! If you want to see an encore, then please come to London! [With that, she's turning quickly to MAKE RUN FOR THE GATE.]

We'll be on TV, too! [ Kanade blows a kiss to the crowd, arm out to wave, as she's dragged away - this kid doesn't fool around when she's nervous, huh?

As they break free of the crowd of people, she stumbles to keep up, then finds her groove and begins to outpace Hibiki. The intercom is saying something about "last boarding call". Ah, sheesh. If they miss this flight, the world won't end, but she will have to wait around some more.

That ain't happening. Kanade squeezes Hibiki's hand. ] How fast are you, kiddo?

[ She has A Plan. ]

[She had to wonder what Kanade was cooking up, but she answers without a beat. It felt like they were in an action movie. The idea of missing the flight was a bit scary, but it was also exciting to be in this kind of situation too. Will they or won't they make it?!]

Um! I'm fast enough to keep up with my best friend! She's the best on the track team!

[Of course, she's just being modest. Hibiki's even faster whenever she pushes herself to the very limit.]

She will also grab you if, like her, you nearly overshoot the terminal and keep going. Kanade has to turn and kind of scramble for purchase at the last second, noticing some flight attendants standing around worriedly. They noticed they were down a few, huh? ] Hey, hey!! Hold that cab!
