The Superhero's Significant Other Meme

You're just an average Joe (or Joanna, as the case may be). You live a normal, unassuming life and go on with your day-to-day business. There is, however, one thing about you that is a little unusual - beside your sparkling personality.

You're dating a superhero.

So, what's in this week's issue? Are you childhood friends come together? Do you actually know your love is that caped crusader? If you do, is it a thorn in your side that you will always come second to the cause? Of course, there's always going to be that annoying time where they try to "protect" you by breaking up with you. Oh joy. Well, at least, how's your sex life? Surely those super powers can make for some interesting bedroom trysts. Maybe after one of them, you can tell your beau that you're a superhero, too.

...but what if your significant other isn't the hero? What if they're the villain?

[He is so not the superhero; no smut please]

This is crazy. Like crazier than anything Emma has ever dreamed up in her entire life. Being shoved into an elevator with a sword and Pinocchio, all while being told to kill a dragon is literally the very last thing Emma thought was going to happen to her in her life. That fact is written all over her face as she looks over at August. Pinocchio? Whoever the hell he is.

"There is seriously a dragon under this library? A real dragon not some metaphorical dragon?" At this point god only knows what really awaits them at the bottom of this elevator. Today has been a toss of everything that she knows to be true for her whole life. She's still not convinced this is real and not a dream. Because is sure feels like some crazy dream.

He leans against the wall of the elevator, taking the weight off of his stiff leg. He's pretty sure he's lucky to be this mobile still; it seems that the wood progresses more every minute and soon just moving will be uncomfortable.

He just hopes that whatever Emma does to break the spell, it's not too late to heal this and he's not stuck as a puppet forever.

"I haven't been under the library to see it, but this is Storybrooke and I've heard the stories about Maleficent, so I'm pretty sure it's a real dragon."

He doesn't know what good he'll be able to be, moving as slow as he does, but when Emma asked him to come along, he wasn't going to turn her down. Not now that she's believing.

"What am I supposed to do against a real dragon?" Even with a gun and a sword, Emma feels ridiculously unprepared for what is ahead. How does one even prepare to fight a dragon? This is absolutely crazy. But she isn't sure it's any crazier than anything else that has happened today.

"Please tell you have some kind of advice. You always have some kind of advice." Even when she didn't want it August was trying to push her towards things that she needed. Hopefully he has the advice she needs right now.

"Focus on the goal." It's probably not the fighting-a-dragon specific advice that she was looking for, but it's the best he's got. He doesn't know anything about real dragons. Just what he's read in stories. At least he knows that stories are based in even a little truth, so at some point somewhere, someone must have actually killed a dragon. The trouble is, the stories are never that specific on how.

"Get the spell back, break the curse, save Henry." Heal me, he could add, but doesn't. That's not her main motivation. "That's your goal. I've seen what you can do when you put your mind to it. You'll manage this too."

He can draw the dragon's attention while she moves in for the kill.

"Focus on the goal?" Her look says literally everything. Though he probably doesn't even have to look at her to know exactly that look that she is giving him right now. He has been on the receiving end of it quite a lot.

"You made that sound really easy for going up against a dragon." She doesn't know a damn thing about dragons, real dragons or whatever, but what she has seen in movies they are mean things. "Is it going to breathe fire at me?" He's got to have some more information about what she can expect. Right?

She rarely wants to hear what he has to say, so he can picture the look quite well. Which doesn't change the fact that he has very little practical information on facing down a dragon.

"Probably. Dragons in literary examples are fire-breathing creatures." Which is a little worrying for someone with a wooden leg. "Find a way to get close. It's probably not going to be able to move as fast as you are. That's an advantage."

"I can't believe this is happening." Emma looks down at the sword in her hand trying to mental prepare herself for what is about to happen. But she just isn't sure how to do that. Or what to believe. But she can feel the weight of everyone's expectations bearing down on her.

"I can do this, right?" Finally she looks over at August, her face maybe for the first time displaying a bit of insecurity. She didn't want to be responsible for everyone's happy ending, yet here she is. Her and only her can take of this.

"Of course you can do this." She might not believe in herself, but he can believe in her enough for both of them. "This is what you were born to do." Maybe not literally, but close enough. "Look at everything you've done so far."

"Everything I've done?" Emma just blinks at him completely confused at that because what has she done? Nothing. She hasn't do anything. Especially nothing close to the likes of fighting a dragon.

"This is nothing like being the sheriff of a town. Or anything else I've ever done..." No, this is huge. Huge and completely beyond her.

"You stood up to Regina. You're probably the first person who ever did." That would have taken a lot of courage. "You discovered the truth when a friend of yours was framed for a crime she didn't commit. And when you were told that you had to face a dragon, what did you do? You got in an elevator to face a dragon."
