OTHERWORDLY.
Otherwordly Meme

Sometimes all you need is a word to spark off an idea.
1. Post a comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences you may have (no shipping, no smut, etc.)
2. Leave the comment blank or post a word or two in the body.
It may also help if you list scenarios you would like to play.
3. Reply to other people, either with words you picked out, or words they posted as prompts for a thread.

"I thought I was here to woo you."

Certainly enough to please her parents, he hopes. Possibly enough to please the counselors he would have to bring his own thoughts to quite soon, he suspects.
It's easy to swing up onto Destrier without any assistance, nodding forward as he urges his mount instantly into a light trot. "With me, then."
no subject
"In that case it is a good thing that I accepted your assistance and not the other gentleman. Otherwise rumors might spread about us!"
no subject
"Should you have stayed, if you found yourself in such a scandal?"
He doesn't seem to quite agree it might have been, of course. It feels lovely to tease this comfortably.
no subject
"Until you found me, of course. Because a man as noble as yourself would never stand by and let an innocent woman's reputation be ruined."
no subject
Because he absolutely would. He can't see a way around it. Even if she wouldn't be his queen, he couldn't see stopping himself from running to assist her.

"I can just imagine how I would look by the time you found me. Leaves in my hair... probably leaves everywhere!" And hopefully some semblance of clothing.
"They might not let you take me back."
no subject
"You should like even more a princess of Narnia, my Lady."
They all came a bit wild around the edges here.
no subject
"In that case, I shall have to make you a crown of leaves to wear. So that you can fit in with the rest of us."

And how bright his laughter continues to be, even as he urges Destrier into a faster trot. He trusts Hwin will follow, and that Jeyne will have the wits to hold on tight.
Giving horses a chance to run nearly at free will is part of the royal Narnian legacy as well, after all.

Hopefully she won't mind her escort being taken up by Drinian for a spell; at least until they can reach the market town at a properly reasonable pace.

The swarm of citizens is just as instantaneous here as it had been in the forest, but this time likely much less overwhelming. There are a scattering of Talking Beasts living in Beruna, yes, but by and large the town is inhabited by Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve. Surely it will be a much easier group for Jeyne and her parents to handle without confusion--which is fortunate, given how quickly Caspian becomes swallowed up by cheerful children and cooing grandmothers as he swings off Destrier's back.

"You're very popular," she comments, noting how easily he blends in with his people. His clothes are the only thing that set him apart, and even they are not overly grand compared to the throng around him. It would be easy for him to disappear into the masses.
no subject
"I don't know about that." Not that he's easily able to refute it, particularly when the mothers and fathers who come to sweep their children away seem to insistent on clutching his arms and hands first on their own. "This is where the war was won. I think it's as much that as anything."

Jeyne has a witty retort in mind that never comes out, as she is swept up in speaking with the crowd. It is instinctive to kneel down to the children's level to speak to them, learning their names, letting them touch the delicate fabric. And while they marvel and giggle, she is looking them over, satisfied that they are all healthy and well-fed. Not even a case of the sniffles that she can see. That makes her very happy.

But it's impossible for Caspian not to catch glimpses of her now and again. It warms his heart beyond compare to see her laughing with the children, speaking sweetly with the crush of fascinated inhabitants.
She belongs here. The more he sees her here, the more certain he is.

The way he shares himself with his people endears him even more to her. He is unlike the kings of Westeros, who sit on their throne and only share their counsel with their closest advisors. Caspian is a man of the people, and they are people apparently as open and welcoming as she could have hoped for.
After nearly half an hour she can see that her parents are beginning to tire. They do not have the youthful energy of her daughter. She escorts them back to their horses, bidding a fond farewell to those still lingering nearby. The children whine but are placated by a promise that she will return soon. She will keep the promise regardless of what happens with the king.
