If Johannes Rau could only strive to be a slight percentage more uninteresting, surely they could fill Das Futur with enough boredom to choke the better half of the German majority. Christ. His notebook is basically a mess of exclamation points and question marks but unfortunately, none of it really makes for an interesting cover story. Or even something half-way interesting.

Waving a hand at his colleague, an older man with a perpetual frown on his face, Vincent pauses a good twenty feet from the pressroom, looking his notes over and trying to see if anything can be salvaged. There's nothing. The man's going to starve them to death while he's in office, isn't he.]

[Claude, on the other hand, found it a very interesting conference. Rau might not be a scandal-ridden president, but he's proper and thorough in the best of ways. Today he managed to address the Union divide between Germany and France not only once, but twice and Claude's notes are basically shipped off by e-mail already. Well, as soon as he gets home to his computer and his Internet connection. Soulless things that they are. Necessities nonetheless.

Making his way through the crowd, he exits the pressroom, steering down the hallway towards the International Wing. He's been living in Berlin for the past two and a half months now. The Germans aren't particularly smitten with him, he can tell, but he's efficient and that, at least, seems to be a language they have in common.
