Given Purpose

GIVEN PURPOSE

You're the kind of person who works best with a stone-set goal or a purpose in your life. Even if those duties were thrust upon you with no input of your own, even if that's all you know - especially if that's all you know - you find yourself most at home when you have a job and you do it. Unfortunately, though, what you've dedicated yourself has gone belly up and you're left reeling.

That is until you find a new mission: a person. They could have shown you kindness when you needed it most, they may seem like someone with a cause. A cause, that's good. That's what you need. You can serve this.

All of your focus, all of your resolve, all in one place; it's no wonder when your feelings begin to blur and "professionalism" and such is no longer the order of the day, if it ever was. So now, you're dedicated to them, which has its ups and downs. You have to protect them, keep them safe, keep them successful, and do what needs to be done for them - their dirty work, if need be - though they may not ask or want this. They especially may not want your brand of service. But loving them normally, of course, would be the most healthy way to channel all this, yet perhaps you're not sure how. You could learn...

[Here's a hero for your adventure.]

[Orihime has no idea how she wound up in Hyrule. It's a beautiful place, but completely alien to her. At first she was excited, because the woods are gorgeous, and she's enchanted by all of the fairies. They're almost like the spirits in her hairpins!]

[Then she was chased by the monsters of this world, which puts a damper on her excitement...at least for now. She's put her back against one of the massive trees to keep from being flanked by the group of octoroks converging on her position. The gold triangular shield is up in front of her, deflecting the boulders that the creatures fire, but it's anyone's guess who's going to run out of power first.]

[She's reluctant to use Tsubaki, since she's not sure if these are intelligent, native creatures to this world, and she's not so keen on genocide just in case she's the scary invader in this situation. But she really doesn't want to die either, so...]

LOOK! TREES!

[She points to the left. Regardless if they fall for the old trick or not, Orihime decides this is her best chance to make a run for it. She dashes abruptly to the left, long hair sailing over her shoulders as she bolts through the forest.]

[A boulder flies just past her arm, colliding with a tree she passes...just INCHES away from her.]

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

[Link doesn’t even need to see what’s happening to know what’s going on. The scream is his cue to move and so he picks up his pace following the echoing sounds through the forest. The ground flies beneath his feet as he races forward his sword and shield drawn into his hand. He doesn’t waste time with words bolting in front of the Octorok with his shield raised.

The rock bounces off the blue metal as the creature continued forward Link brought his sword down across the creatures frame.]

He-yah!

[The creature slumps to the ground and slowly vanishes into the darkness from whence it came. Link turns then lowering his sword and then sheathing it while shrugging his shield onto his back. He knows there is someone screaming but he wonders if she had run ahead while he fought.

Link catches a glint of orange hair and moves towards it. It doesn’t look as if she’s moving away which means she must have seen him attack the creature. He wants to make sure she knows he isn’t a threat and so he stopped his approach thinking of what to say. He can’t just leave her be. No one should be in this forest alone.]

Hi.

[There's no response. The forest is quiet for a long moment. Then Orihime's head pops around the thick trunk of a tree so she can catch a glimpse of the person who offered her a friendly greeting. She blinks. Well, he looks pretty friendly. And human! The ears are different, she supposes, but he doesn't look like he's going to jump on that monster's back and encourage it to keep shooting rocks at her.]

Er...hello!

[She inches a little further out from behind the tree, ignorant of the burrs and sticks clinging to her clothes and hair. A small price to pay for the safety of diving into a bush! She lifts her hand, offering a tentative, crooked grin.]

Are you a knight?

[He's got the sword and shield, so it's a fair assumption in her view.]

[Link blinks staring at her hand and then taking it in his. He wasn't used to hand shakes but he wasn't opposed to them either. He keeps his expression confident though it's obvious that he's alert as his eyes dart to the forest around them.]

Not exactly a knight.

[He lowers his hand unsure if he should introduce himself as the hero of time. That isn't something he's ever done.]

I'm Link.

[Link smiles then as a soft resulting sounds to their left. He reaches out an arm pulling Orihime behind him as he faces the bush. A moment later a black bird shoots from it's hold and takes off to hide into the trees.]

We should get you somewhere safe.

[OH NO BIRDS! ...Er... Orihime straightens guiltily, sort of embarrassed to find her heart in her throat. Her shoulders droop as she heaves a sigh of relief, glad that there's a native here who knows far more about these woods than she does. At his suggestion, she nods obediently.]

Thank you, Link-san.

[She starts to follow him, but pauses. Oh right, duh. She didn't even have time to give her own name!]

I'm Orihime. And I'm pretty sure I've never been to this world before!

[Might as well just come out and say it. How else is she going to learn all of the important things?]
