[So, Henry's cunning plan to conquer the tyranny of childbirth with dark magic hadn't actually panned out. At least Miriel had gotten a research paper out of it, and their test subjects had been pretty entertaining for him (they were only rats - he's not that heartless. Probably!).

The old-fashioned way was still pretty fun, though. Or, well, it had been at the time - Lissa didn't seem to be having a lot of fun these days. Normally that would have been amusing to Henry, but he couldn't help but feel partly responsible. When did he develop a conscience, anyway?]
