I wanna treat April like a queen, and queens deserve flowers and massages.

Treat Them Right

This could be a bolt out of the blue or a natural part of your personality, but either way, you've set your heart on one promise to yourself: you're definitely going to take care of - no, absolutely spoil - your significant other or potential love interest. They'll want for nothing, if you have your say. You'll cover any financial burdens they have, take them on dates, and shower them with gifts, maybe because you've never had those nice things yourself or that throwing money at a problem's just what you do. Perhaps, though, your idea of doting is actions that speak louder than words, like making sure they're content, healthy, protected, and unbothered by the world around them.

To achieve all this, you're going to have to put in extra work, especially if you want to go the financial route and treat the object of your affection like a queen or king. But will it be worth it...and is this what your one special person really wants?

ooc; so, i do have some ideas (most of them more than a little materialistic) but i actually wonder if there isn't some way we could take this beyond 'and then he gave him lots of expensive shit'. because he would probably have done that anyway.

so i was thinking something more personal. possibly encouraging him to do something more fulfilling and enriching then sitting around, waiting to pick up after the latest supernatural clusterfuck. and then possibly casually throwing in a 'oh good because i might have already bought you a house whoops!' sort of thing. sound good?

[well, you know how Stefan is. it's all the other non-materialistic stuff that matters most to him, but okay, if you're going to buy him things, lover, he suppose he'll let you just because you're old and in need of hobbies. :P

It begins with books.

This, in itself, is not particularly remarkable. Vlad enjoys reading, has a library that he is constantly adding to. It's something (of the many things) that they have in common.

Except that these books (which covered everything from anatomical studied to abnormal psychology), each volume thicker than the last, were about as far removed from his usual fair as one could get. That didn't stop them from being dumped, rather unceremoniously, into his lap. "For you."

It might have been strange for Vlad, but it isn't so far-fetched for Stefan as a undergraduate in medical school. He reads plenty of textbooks, because he is--as it stands--a star student who excels in all he does (clever young boy). Still, it's a little unexpected for his lover to suddenly be dumping the books into his lap while he's enjoying his break away from his studies.

Stefan raises one brow at the older man before he's glancing down at the pile now sitting in his lap where he reads a couple of the titles. "Very romantic, Vlad," he teases, staring to collect them into a neat stack.

"Why?"

"Because your current ones are old, out of date, and because I needed an excuse to visit that new bookstore on the corner."

All of which is true, of course. Vlad would like to pretend he isn't the kind of guy that would throw his money around but this really is beyond acceptable. Especially when you're studying medicine.

He smiles, the kind of smile that makes the corners around his eyes crinkle, dipping down low to say: "You're welcome."

It's not...a lie. But really, even on student loans and with the money his parents had put aside for college, Stefan could only afford so much. He doesn't like asking Vlad for help--the man does enough on his own. They live together and he foots most of the bills while Stefan studies full-time.

It's in Stefan's way to feel guilt over these kinds of things and he knows he shouldn't. Vlad won't let him.

So he smiles and places the books aside as his lover is leaning down and over him. "You're too good to me," Stefan murmurs while full lips are still curved up, and a light flush comes over his cheeks. He reaches out, wraps his arms around his neck and pulls him down into a kiss, loving and deep, savoring the feeling for just a moment.

There are definite advantages to being independantly wealthy. One of those advantages is being able to ensure that you – and your young lover – can enjoy a fairly comfortable (if not exactly luxurious) existence.

Let him shower you with useful gifts, lover. You deserve it.

Humming, clearly pleased. "Well, now I'm really excited to see your reaction to the gift that I haven't given you."

Stefan doesn't need luxurious. He just needs this--the affection, the smile his lover gives at seeing the younger man so happy, the feeling that is something like his heart swelling in need for him and everything he is. So he allows the showering of gifts, because how could he ever complain?

He pulls his lips back from Vlad's and stares into his eyes, curious. "...What gift? Vlad." Nothing too expensive or something that he really doesn't need. In all of his ways, perhaps Stefan is still a frugal, southern boy.

Vlad also just really enjoys buying presents. Especially when it's the sort of presents that he knows they'll be appreciated and enjoyed.

"A nice one," he tosses back over his shoulder, and you could hear the amusement in his voice. This was another thing he enjoyed about giving gifts, being able to tease.

See, Stefan is more than aware that his lover has a thing for spoiling him, but this also involves getting under his skin in the best of ways, being a tease. So Stefan immediately gets up from his chair and moves after the older man, pulling around to his front and wrapping his arms around his waist.

"It's not my birthday, or Christmas, or our anniversary. What are you up to?" One of Stefan's thick brows rises with the quirk of his lips.

Brows lifting in a convincing show of surprised innocence, "I wasn't aware that the giving of gifts was restricted to only those occasions."

He scratches at his stubble, expression turning thoughtful. "Clearly it must be an American thing."

[When Makoto accepted this part-time job, he knew there were going to be some bumps in the road. It's a matter of course when dealing with children. So he prepared for some uneasiness and awkward moments.

He just didn't expect things to start off in that way.

It's up to him to smooth things over so, with a deep and settling breath, he calmly approaches the boy in the corner, even crouching down so they're more or at less at the same eye-level. The last thing he wants to do is tower over him and come off as intimidating in any way.]
