Look Past the Blood on Your Hands Red's in your ledger or you're making your way towards a crimson page by your very nature. Did you simply do what you had to do in order to survive? No one could understand how you lived. That could be just what you tell yourself, though; really, you might have enjoyed your crimes. You're not proud of some of what you've done, no matter what, and there's a part of you that will probably never heal. If you were someone else looking in, you'd never be able to stand looking at you, much less stomach you. But someone does all of that willingly. They can look past the blood on your hands and the bad decisions weighing on your shoulders. It's you they care about, not your history. Actually, they may even love you, though you can't begin to fathom why. Graduate an inmate, resurrect Archie, return home. But when Horatio finally achieves this objective, it just doesn't feel right to him. He doesn't feel like he deserves to just take his deal and leave. Instead, he feels like he's left his failed responsibilities and unfinished business trailed halfway across the galaxy, so when the Admiral asks him what he'll do next? Gives him his chance to decide? Horatio retraces his steps.

He exchanges correspondence with Scorpius, inquiring after his health, and after the state of his war. Goes off sailing with Bush and Jones for a little while, before this too loses it's shine. Eventually, he finds himself wandering through the 20th century, seeing the parts of the universe that he'll have to say goodbye too forever when he finally takes up his deal.

He's drinking coffee, and watching the news in a small, washed out diner when he crosses paths with Roderick again.

On the tv screen, a slender white guy in his forties is talking about the public killing of a well known media critic, by two red eyed teenagers who'd filmed the whole thing on their camera phones and uploaded it to youtube afterward.

Horatio sipped his coffee, watched the snippets of video that CBS thought it politic to share, and barely thought of Roderick at all.]
