1. Feeling Strange: You've known this person your entire life, yet lately you've been feeling...different about them. These feelings aren't exactly familial, either.
2. Not as Normal Families: Whatever the specifics of the case may be, your childhood was not the norm, and thus the two of you have grown close that way.
3. Raised Apart: Scientists believe that when siblings are raised together under normal circumstances, they will not find each other sexually attractive; however, if they are reared apart, they may be highly attracted to each other when they meet as adults.
4. Only Kin by Name: Psuedo-incest between step siblings or adopted siblings is not quite as taboo, but you could still be looked down upon for harboring those desires for someone who is a member of your family by one way or another.
5. Defender: One of you is older and has always looked after the other, meaning that something has grown between you that is thicker than any blood.

Too much had happened in the last few months. Finding out about her father, Ollie, finding out she was a murderer, everything that had happened with Ra's and his daughter, and then finally Roy. She'd come back to the person she could be herself with and then he'd been ripped away, probably to the same guilt she felt about killing Sara.

Ultimately, there was one person she could blame for everything, even if it wasn't really his fault. She knew that, but he'd always made a convenient excuse, always seemed willing to take whatever she heaped upon him. And that was why she'd cleared their living room, kicked Malcolm out for the night, and was waiting. She'd become what Malcolm had molded her into, a person who could vent her frustrations in violence. She wasn't about to start out in the vigilante business, but she could hurt one of the people she held responsible for the things that had gone wrong in her life.

So she sat on the floor, cross-legged and holding two bokken in her lap, and waited.

As soon as he arrived home from work Loki changed into a pair of black slacks and a gray t-shirt. Moving through the luxurious condo barefoot, he milled about the kitchen making himself a nice, hot cup of tea. While he waited for the tea to steep, he idly wondered where his brother had gone. It wasn't unusual for one or the other to wander off for a while. That was just their nature, but Loki always wondered what his brother was up to when he was away.

Cup in hand, Loki strolled over to his favorite recliner and relaxed into the comfortable black leather. He propped his feet up and leaned back, then sipped from his cup in silence. It wasn't really an unwelcome one.

He could hear the sounds of traffic on the street below his tenth storey abode, but he was so accustomed to the noise it hardly registered. Loki needed a bit of entertainment. If his brother wasn't back by nightfall, Loki decided to have a night on the town without him. It would be amusing to go to a club and play with the humans for a while.

[Almost a week ago he'd gotten permission from his brother's current roommate to switch with him for the next semester, and just the other night he'd gotten an email from their RA stating that all the papers were finally sorted out and their request was approved. Call Bill superstitious—most likely from the silly worry they wouldn't be allowed a switch so late—but he hadn't actually moved any of his (admittedly already packed) things in with Loki's.

But now that everything was well and sound? Why, he'd set out to give them a fresh start. While his dear twin was out for the day, if only to surprise him when he returned. He'd gotten them a new shade for the window, one that kept the room better insulated, and he'd rearranged their furniture. Mainly the beds. It was difficult work, but well worth it, he believed.

It was now alongside the wall with the window, but tucked into the recess where things were just a touch cooler than the rest of the room. He'd then set the the insane task of fitting the bed with a bunk by himself, to further save them space. Now they could fit both their desks, separated by a shelving unit, as well as their love seat and small entertainment stand. Cramped but cozy, Bill thought. Cozier than before, anyway.

He hoped Loki would like it. There were butterflies in his stomach at the thought as he lay scrunched on the love seat, staring up at the ceiling. Maybe he should have asked. The blond really didn't think the other would mind all that much, at least not when he heard his reasoning behind it all.]

(ooc: Sorry for writing a novel-length starter. A smattering of several things in here: 1, 2, 4/23, 5, and heavy on the 12. Flashbacks aside, I figure this takes place after the equivalent of the the Avengers in your AU timeline. Hope I got things right, let me know if you'd like anything changed!)


It is the morning after a night of celebration in Asgard, and Thor walks heavily to Loki's chambers to apologize.

The night before, the halls had been filled with high born and important visitors, all drinking and breaking bread with the royal family as a prelude to a week of formal negotiations. Thor wasn't blessed with a diplomatic tongue, but his welcoming enthusiasm can sometimes make up where words fail. He charmed many, and the mead flowed freely past his lips. But the sight of Loki with an ambassador from Alfheim had caused him no little distraction. Thor hasn't the eyes for the subtlety of court, but there was little subtle about the Light Elf's roaming gaze or the way he licked his lips when Loki spoke with him. Odin would have been livid had he seen, for Thor still remembers the fury over Loki's first pregnancy. Thor was doing him a favor by intervening, by pulling him from the celebration halls and commanding him to stay away from the man.

Thor's feelings for his brother have long been confusing. The strangeness started softly, with getting Loki's attention in their youth and pulling his brother along on adventures for the company, secretly hoping for moments when he could prove his worth in front of him. News of Loki's first pregnancy sent a spike of shock through him, leaving a twisting in his chest that he did not care to examine, and a thrill in his stomach that he stifled behind long hours training under their father's approving eye. And when Odin shuffled Loki's foal away, with stern commands that closed doors could not keep from curious ears, Thor was eager to pull his brother back into their adventures. Although the excitement in his stomach never entirely quieted, it was pleasing enough just to have Loki by his side.

There was little soft about the thrill in his stomach that surged with dark thoughts threatening their brotherhood. The excitement and the twisting surfaced again, in the shadows behind that pillar last night. Overcome by years of thoughts his unskilled tongue dare not voice, Thor's desires finally laid bared when he took Loki close and pressed a heavy kiss to his lips.

No one else had seen his shame, and they were needed back with their visitors before their absence could be noticed. Thor had hopes to catch his brother before he departed for his rooms, but Odin had needed Thor's ear for other matters with the Vanir. Perhaps that was for the better, for the shameful images that surfaced while he laid in bed last night might have surfaced earlier and moved him to action, if he'd walked with Loki alone to his chambers.

The taste of Loki's lips remain exquisitely clear in his memory, and Loki's body is a phantom feeling under his fingertips. He flexes his fingers as he walks, clinging to a memory he knows he should not. He must make this right and apologize. They must never do this again, even if Thor longs for it to be otherwise.

Thor enters his brother's chambers and, despite his attempt to be resolute, his voice sounds more uncertain than he has in years. "Loki? I would speak with you, brother."
