Vincent's not up to speed on how things work here, and he's not been doing a good job of fixing that. sue him, he's been busy trying to avoid dying. this place rains death from every direction when it feels like, okay?

Katniss knows what's up. he doesn't. the obvious solution was, upon finding himself here, to stick to her until he can get his footing on his own. he gave himself maybe an hour...

it's been like a week. woops. at least he's good at not dying, and getting better at following orders. he's best at simply bashing things to smithereens when the need calls for, though.

( Distance had been the only way to keep the people she loved safe. She had all but painted a target on her back with the Solarii, with those who worship the Solarii and have hypnotists and assassins and money beyond counting at their disposal. Lara had tapped into a part of the world, into a truth that she hadn't been ready for, into a world where people trade sacred items and magical power without guilt or regret, people who want to tear apart the world and re-make into some twisted vision.

When she pushed Sam and the others away, it had been to protect them as she tried to destroy this organisation set on re-arranging the world to their whims. She hadn't meant to let anyone in. She hadn't meant to drag them into this mess. Probably Natasha would object to having been dragged anywhere, but it seems accurate enough. Their missions had collided, somewhat... explosively.

And she had promised not to go out alone. She... may have broken that promise, and as she stumbles back into their base (underground, a forgotten eccentric's effort to convert a WWII bunker into something to survive the apocalypse) she's well aware there might be consequences to be faced. Lara drops the artefact onto the table, ignoring the ache in her limbs from being thrown across the room (more than once) by a man so monstrously huge that she doubted he had not been effected by magic. She's bruised, there's a gash from her cheekbone down to her jaw, and she's probably made Natasha quite unhappy by slipping out alone. )

[ It's not everyday you meet in a dark secret corner in Knockturn Alley, then again, it's the last place you'd expect to see the boy who lived pressed up against the wall. His jacket pulled around his body tight and his hair flopped forward to cover that infamous scar of his as the rain splattered over the cobblestones near his feet. His eyes scanned the crowd that seemed to be so involved in there own no doubt illegal activities to pay much attention to him. There was no sign of that familiar blond mop of his Draco's hair.

It was hard to say what they were those days, partners? Contacts? Friends? Informants? Harry gave a loud sigh as he pressed himself closer to the wall.]

[there's only so much magic she can use in one go without getting repetitive and, sadly, predictable. an arsenal of spells? sure. an arsenal she has to whittle down based on effectiveness? makes this about a million times harder. and without gourry's brawn or amelia's ... peppiness, the fight's gone downhill rather quickly for them, backing them into a metaphorical corner - a small alcove they'd managed to find for cover.

Nothing she's tried has had any real effect; enough to buy them time, sure, but not to get rid of the damn things. Zel's turn.]
