ARRANGED MARRIAGE

recognised as a social contract. Unions were entered into for many
reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,
et cetera. Whatever the reason, congratulations, you're getting married!
HOW IT WORKS:
❧ Post a comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences.
❧ If there's a specific set of circumstances you like best, set the scene.
❧ Or leave your comment blank and let others use RNG to choose the scenario. Feel free to mix and match.
❧ Please note the prompts below are merely suggestions and you're more than welcome to come up with your own situation.
❧ Have fun!
POSSIBLE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE:
① Station → You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
② Feud → You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
③ Economics → Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
④ Empire → You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
⑤ Tribute → You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.
⑥ Bloodline → Carrying on your distinguished family name has fallen to you and the equally well-bred spouse of your family's selection.
⑦ Disapproval → Your marriage has been arranged to keep you away from the person with whom you truly wish to be.
POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:
① First meeting → This is the very first time you're meeting your future spouse.
② Courtship → To get to know each other and encourage affection, your family has approved of you going on dates.
③ Engagement party → Be it a huge, formal affair or a small, intimate get together, you're celebrating (or pretending).
④ Wedding day → The big day!
⑤ Reception → The big party!
⑥ Wedding night → Every meme needs a smut prompt, right?
⑦ Honeymoon → Where will you go with your new spouse and what will you do there?

It's an easy comeback, smile still in place. He holds one of the filled glasses out in invitation, almost a dare. Come closer. The doors remain open, a taunt, a temptation, but it's dark beyond the threshold, a void of blackness. If Chase were to try to make a break for it, he'd find himself in a labyrinth with demons just itching for new playthings. Of course, they wouldn't actually touch Chase, not as long as he's marked as Lucifer's.

Still, Chase holds his ground for a moment, his eyes going back to the doors again. It's tempting, it really is, and there's an internal struggle between giving in to his flight instinct and keeping his brave face on until he learns more about this situation. There has to be an angle he can play to come out of this on top. For now, though, cooperation-- or at least the illusion of it-- may be his best bet. Perhaps the safest course of action, at the very least.
So, finally he moves closer, his body language easy and relaxed, but almost in a sort of practiced way. He's not always as good an actor as he likes to think he is.
Reaching for the glass, Chase says, "I didn't prepare a toast for this occasion, you know."
no subject
"Well, why don't we toast to the human predilection for always wanting more?"
More power, more youth. He steps closer, nearly closing the distance between them, dark eyes watchful.
no subject
He's tempted to draw back, maintain the space between them, but doing so would make him look afraid. Weak. And he can't have that. Stubbornly, Chase stays put, eyes meeting Lucifer's as if to challenge him.
He raises the glass to his lips, but hesitates. He doesn't want to drink until Lucifer does first, just in case. In case of what, he's not sure, but he's being cautious all the same. So, after a beat, he lowers the glass as if a thought just occurred to him.
"So, are there any ground rules here? Expectations?"
He deserves to know what he's in for, doesn't he?
no subject
"Do whatever I say. That should about cover all ground rules and expectations." A pause. He taps on his stem of his glass, appearing to think for a moment. "If you try to run, I will hunt you down and, believe me, you don't want that. I'm not prone to unwarranted violence. I won't lie to you or deceive you and I expect the same courtesy. Oh — you'll have your own room, of course... unless you'd rather bunk with me." There's no indication of whether that last bit is sarcastic or not.
no subject
"Oh, my own room. That's generous," he says sarcastically. It better not be a cell or anything. The rest of it, doing what he says, not running... that seems to be about what he expected. Hopefully, he won't do anything that warrants violence, because he knows he can't take Lucifer in a fight. The Power may be incredible, but it's not likely to be a match against a fallen angel or whatever the hell (Ha.) Lucifer is.
Still, no lying and no deceiving, either. That basically takes out a good 75% of Chase's go-to interactions. Honesty isn't a good look on him, far as he's concerned. But at least Lucifer didn't say he couldn't be snarky, snide or sarcastic. Maybe he could just annoy him into letting him go.
He takes another drink as he mulls the ground rules over.
"What kinds of things would you tell me to do? I mean, just as an example." Don't go ordering him around yet.
