Florence Nightingale Effect

1. Previously aloof tough character gets injured, lets the love interest treat their injuries, and reveals a newfound trust and intimacy. This might or might not involve the tough person making that hissing sound when the love interest touches their injured face, but not quite pulling away...
2. The love interest gets injured, and the tough character treats them and suddenly reveals a tender side.
It's an old trope, admittedly, but an understandable one. You're hurt - physically or emotionally - and perhaps even on the brink of death. And then, out of the blue, someone saves you and brings you back. They heal you, they feed you, cloth you, wash you. In the human mind, the intimacies can bring up warm feelings, even in the hardest of hearts. Will you fight them or let them grow? And what about when it's time to leave? You may not feel like leaving your angel...
HOW TO PLAY
1. Comment with your character and preferences. Mention if you'd prefer to play the healer or the healed - or both, for greatest versatility!
2. Reply to others.
NOT EXACTLY PROMPTS, BUT IDEAS
- The finding and saving
- The hurt/comfort care process, I.E. cleaning wounds, bathing, wrapping bandages, etc.
- Feeding, finding clothes, etc.
- Mother hen behavior ("you're still hurt, don't do that!")
- Comforting from trauma
- Unwilling patient
- Pulling away, trying to be all aloof
- Realization of growing emotions
- Denial
- Attempts to instigate something more
- Jealousy at seeing your savior with someone else
- Confessions
- Mutual attraction
- First (accidental or no) kiss
- Obligatory sex scene option
- Make your own scene

Stupid, stupid, stupid! he mentally chastised himself. His solo mission to check if the Purple Dragons had decided to show up again had ended up with a deep cut to his left leg. It wasn't even from a battle but from a piece of glass on the floor he hadn't seen. Normally he would have gone down the nearest manhole to get back home but he didn't want to leave a trail of blood to be followed with.
As it was, he'd had to deal with it for at least a block until he got to an old fabric store. Bolts of fabric sat in a dumpster in the back, giving him an easy way to tie it off, stemming the flow of blood. He could go back home but he knew that he was closer to someone else's apartment.
That was how he'd ended up climbing up the elevator shaft, around the elevator car then in through the top of it. He barely stifled the noise of pain as he landed on his feet, it coming out as a growl instead. It took a moment before he pressed the "door open" button on the pad, looking around quickly before going inside.
"Cho?" he called, limping forward. He stopped a moment, rubbing the back of his neck. "She must be asleep."

"Next time I'll phone ahead," Leo said with a soft laugh. "I'm sorry, I just wanted to get somewhere out of the way before going home."
Straightening himself as much as he could, he gestured to his leg. "Do you have a first aid kit here? I could use a bit of help." He at least had the decency to look sheepish about the whole thing. Leo knew it was late and he'd dragged her out of bed but he hoped she'd lend a hand.

And now for something a liiiiiiiiittle different.....
So being, for now, was outside at the edge of the great forest that surrounded the land and the mountain. The trees here were larger than what his sister would call Redwoods, the vines as big as his arms and loaded with spikes as big as his hands. There were animals here that tended to be a little faster, a littler sleeker and a LOT deadlier than earth animals, but Hawke was used to them. He had learned quickly to avoid them or at the very least intimidate them until he could reach safety. He had no claws or scales to protect him, after all.
Right now he was nestled in the crook of two low hanging branches, staring a bit out into nowhere as his thoughts flit back to the present and the past. He shouldn't be out on his own so much like this. He was worrying the others. It reminded them too much of what happened to their friend and watching Hawke withdraw like this was too much-especially for Malin. But Hawke didn't want them around when the darker thoughts came. The way the magic pulled at him and what the witches had done... the Chalice. The cursed Chalice. He shouldn't be still thinking of that wine he drank.
A deep sigh came from him as he shook himself out of it. It was in the past, he was where he should be, end of the story. Until he heard a panicked crashing through the thick and heavy underbrush. Without moving too much or making noise, he rolled onto his feet, taking the knife from his side and flipping it open with a quiet click. Whatever was coming didn't know he was there, but whatever was chasing the frightened animal might. He wasn't about to get caught in a stampede today.

He'd heard that New York was like the urban jungle but this was taking it far too literally. Under normal circumstances, he would be amazed at the size of the trees. He couldn't help but climb one as soon as he figured out how to navigate up the vines. It was mostly because he wanted to see where he was, try to get his bearings. Needless to say, it didn't help.
Landing back on the ground, he came face-to-face with a...something. It looked like a large cat but more streamlined. He tried backing away but, being a city boy, Leo stood no chance at understanding animal behaviours. Contrary to popular belief, animals didn't speak a common language.
The cat pounced with a grace that it simply shouldn't have, making Leo start running which, in turn, made the cat give chase. The problem with being in a new world was that he had no idea where to go. He had a feeling that the thing would be able to climb trees.
Leaping off of the trunks, he tried keeping out of the cat's impressive reach. Too late, he realised that it wasn't enough. He rolled with the hit as best as he could, the underbrush doing more damage than the claws that rolled off his shell.
With an irritated grunt, Leo got to his feet and started running again, this time quickly running up the trunk of a tree. It was a practically vertical run and he cut it short to leap back and forth between the trees until he reached a tall branch. Much to his frustration, he noticed that the predator hadn't given up. It followed him as he leapt from branch to branch, obviously waiting for him to fall.
Again his bad luck caught up to him as he ran out of trees. The cat burst from the bushes and he backed up against the tree he was caught in. "Aw, come on! I thought the cat was supposed to be trapped in the tree!" Leo growled, his eyes darting around until he saw someone oddly familiar.
"Hawke?" he said, tilting his head. "What are you doing here?"
no subject
"Keep moving!" Now was not the time to have chit chat. He knew that cat and he swore the thing was looking for a death wish. He leaped down from the tree, knife in one hand and eyes blazing, he headed straight for the cat, yelling as if he was going to tackle it himself. The animal screamed right back, dropping down so it could pounce on Hawke and rip him to shreds. This one was soft and squishy would be easy to eat if it would allow itself to be eaten!
Hawke was having none of it as he swiped the blade across his forearm, letting the animal leap towards him and then be caught by the rope of red that lassoed and closed around the muzzle of the cat. It dropped and landed with a heavy thud, then whipped back up, trying to fight the muzzle Hawke had it in. It flailed and twisted in mid air, screaming in fury this time as it tried to slice through the bond but couldn't quite manage to do so.

He manages to get out of his cell even before the riot started. All the better for him if the rest of the inmates want to rip the place apart. They just better not wreck his shit in the process.
Unfortunately, wherever the hell his is happens to be fucking huge so actually making it to his ship is taking longer than he'd hoped. Every so often he'll stop and hack into a terminal to get an idea as to where he is and where he needs to go. Rather trying to open all the doors and make a run for it the entire way, it's less likely he'll get noticed if he does it in small sections at a time.
There's fighting going on around him. There are alien's here he doesn't recognize and that actually scares him a little for how impossible that is. Or at least impossible enough that he doesn't want to believe it. A lot of them are probably dying but he ignores it and focuses on getting back what's his. No one touches his ship. No one.
He curses when he finally makes it to the hanger and it's an all out battle field. With lasers. Nobody uses lasers they're so fucking impractical what the fuck. Obviously he needs to get his hands on one, not only out of curiosity as to how they're powered but he won't make it to his ship otherwise. Faed isn't even remotely strong, but he's tiny and fast. So when the moment struck he dodged behind one of the robot bodies to trip it, only to snag it's riffle and dart off. It's heavier than expected, needing all four hands to keep it steady.
The bounty hunter is no stranger to this, he's just used to wearing armor when he's being shot at. But he's smart, he built Bodan from the ground up so he worked in secrets the Kraang have hopefully not come close to finding yet. Like a direct access panel hidden behind a biometric scan tucked away in the landing gear in a spot just big enough for him to access. In moments the ship powers on.
If it wasn't for the fact that he'd get people trying to crowd they're way onto his ship, he'd have opened the hangar, so a small vent opens up and a ladder slides down near the very rear of the ship. Curse everything that he actually stops with his hand on the first rung.
He catches site of an alien doing some insane amount of fighting with swords of all things. Really, who brings swords to a laser gun fight? He lets go of the ladder to hoist up the rifle again, firing right into a brain thing's face that was coming up behind the sword wielder, exploding it into a spray of purple goop. The recoil knocks him back just enough to put him in the line of fire of another shot and it hits him square in the shoulder, which ends up blowing him off his feet entirely.
Dammit. Dammit! Dammit!
This is exactly what he gets for playing hero.

Ending up in the hangar of a Kraang facility without any of his brothers around was not his idea of a fun time. Surrounded by Kraang, Leo's katana flashed wildly, slicing down android after android.
Sadly not possessing eyes in the back of his head, he didn't even notice that there was a Kraang behind him until a weird, sticky splatter hit his shell. He looked over his shoulder then found the source of the shot, just in time to see Faed get shot himself.
With a growl, Leo ran forward and knocked down the remaining Kraang before kneeling beside the...mutant bug? At least Raph wasn't here.
"Thanks for saving my shell back there. Let me do the same for you." He idly noticed that the odd ship was powered up but that wasn't a viable way out. "Come on, I can take you back to the lair and get you patched up."
no subject
Or at least it should have been. What the fuck did they do to him? Now he wasn't sure if he should thank them or explode this entire base.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have the time to dwell too hard on it. The one arm was rendered useless for the time being, but he still has three others to try and haul himself up with. Without even asking, he started using Leo's shell and arm to pull himself back up to his feet before going for the ladder, wincing harshly.
He spares a glare over at Leo, but when he speaks it can't be heard over the sounds of battle around them. "We are not leaving my ship!"

you always get my hot characters aren't you lucky
Not that he'll be speaking of that to anyone, not here, not in the infirmary where he's been left to languish in a bed until they're sure the wounds to his head and sword arm aren't going to render him completely useless. Nope. Instead, he just sits there, back straight and eyes closed, waiting until they're able to spare more than a cursory check in to make sure nothing's infected before healing the worse off. Not even when he senses a shadow coming into his field of view does he open his eyes.]
it's because you looooove me~~ ♪ i will pay you with hot mieuseloir i promise
Unguarded, unlocked infirmary. Lucky day! So. A quick, cursory check happens indeed. Though not on the patients. More like the contents of every cabinet. It's not like anyone can stop a rather opportunistic thief in a place like this, after all. What would any medic do?
...So in he strolls, daggers twirled lightly in one hand. To this gentleman's room he goes! ...And the medicine cabinet is indeed ransacked. Now you see it, now...
And out he goes. Or he takes a few steps, regarding the injured hyur. And he pauses.]
...
[A hyur. His nose wrinkles a little in distaste, but. Still. The man's not in very good shape... Even if it is a hyur. Decisions. Endless generations before him decimated by his kind, unspeakable hatred etc etc, histories of warfare or...?
Ugh. Well, Score one for
secretlybeing a trained white mage. Not abandoning anyone in need, even if it was a hyur? Thanks, Altana.]They did a shoddy patchup on you.
[And down go his bags, with aforementioned (plundered) goodies, and he's kneeling at the old hyur's side.]
Very bad. Here.
[A flick of the dagger, and off come the head bandages!]
well yes that is true i do. i also love ur hot elves. it is win-win
Ah, that's the sound of bottles and roots and whatnot being rifled through; he knows the sound well enough and goes with a medic having just arrived. Finally.]
Excuse my badmouthing of your colleagues if you will, but...That they did. [Squinting at first, Hardin slowly, balefully blinks at his apparent new nurse. ...How odd.] You're new here--
[And then he looks down and snorts. Of course. He's indulging in illegal weapon trading, and this guy's indulging in a bit of petty thievery; it'd be hypocritical to call the guards on him, really. So instead, he just looks back up at Asrai and waits to see what he's going to do.]
