unexpected domesticity shipping meme

unexpected domesticity shipping meme.
you never thought you'd have a home, at least not one you can call completely yours, no strings attached and no one lording above you or controlling you. you may not have even known what a "home" truly is, or thought you wanted one. now, there is a touch of domesticity in your life, no matter what things are like otherwise, because you have a home, though you may not have a house proper.

most importantly, you now have someone to share this new facet of life with - a partner. similar to you or completely different, relationship unspoken or unrealized, heavily romantic or understated, they are slowly but surely becoming someone indispensable to you. you never could have seen this coming. and, of course, with domesticity comes a certain amount of intimacy, perhaps even the ultimate physical intimacy...you may be open to that already or you're working up to it when you'd hardly considered it before.

whether your situation is for the long term as it stands, could end at any moment, or a mere disguise you're using to lay low, you're getting comfortable. how does that make you feel? will you it accept a new lease on life - or will you sabotauge yourself before someone else does?

Comment with your character, preferences, what tone you want your thread to take, and whether or not your open to smut.

It's tempting to catch a peek.

[It really is, as much as she hates to admit, making a note to actually look into that later, for hilarity's sake. While he disappears, she washes his glass, mostly out of habit at cleaning things up in Clint's place before turning to him at his question.]

Why not? I have to go nab more coffee anyway. Let me go wake up Lucky. [Which she does while scavenging through Loki's bedroom (her bedroom, as it's slowly becoming), going through the scattered clothes for a clean pair of shorts and a loose shirt (purple, of course).

Exiting the room, the dog follows her, wide awake now as his collar jingles with each of his steps.]
Ready for takeoff! Shall we go?
ikols: don't get cut on my edges (he says ooh baby girl)

[ Loki mooches around while he waits, tugging on his seven-league boots (because you never know) and donning his hoodie (green too, of course). He crouches down to make a fuss over Lucky as they leave ("Yes, away with us!"), bright-eyed in his own respect like he might be the one taken for a walk. It's a treat to be nostalgic like this solely because it almost never happens with anyone else, these days. The rest of his former circle wouldn't want to see him, or at least not to pretend everything was alright, but Kate is different; whereas Chavez would put his head through a window for speaking out of turn, Bishop only threatens. That's got to be progress. True friendship, perhaps? He isn't familiar with it, as Verity insisted.

The diner is a small one nearby where he usually ducks in for on-the-go beverages and suchlike, this time steering the three of them into a red-pleather booth where he waves jovially at the servers to catch their attention before leaning over to Kate. ]

I'll pay. You're only up at this hour because of me, anyway.

[Lucky likes Loki, as wild as he is. Even for an old dog, he's amused by the eccentric gestures and enjoys the comfort of his abode. Plus, Kate likes him (????) — or at least tolerates him, so that's a plus. Not to mention he gets some attention, which is always a good note in his book.

The dog rushes up ahead of them as soon as the door is open and they eventually make their way out, leaving Kate to walk beside Loki. Hands in her pockets, she still can't get over the bizarre situation, never having imagined she'd be spending such casual time with him like this. But the toleration is evidently there, perhaps because there's other people she's more pissed off at in the moment, and she finds it's not the worst thing in the world to have a decent conversation together.]

I told you I didn't need friends paying for me. [Though it isn't a huge protest when they're in the booth, leaning back to rest her head, still tired in the early hours.] I've technically taken your bed anyway. That's already sticking me in your debt.

[Not to mention everything else she's already taken over.]

Let me do this, I was rude. I should like to make proper amends with pancakes, as is the traditional Asgardian way. Minus a boar or two.

[ He orders four bacon sandwiches and a plate of waffles for himself, assuming Kate will attend to coffee-related designs. Loving the mortal hustle and bustle (of which there is still a fair amount because #manhattan) he twiddles with his own menu. ]

[When the waitress comes around to offer coffee, Kate makes her leave the entire pourer on the table to take care of her own refills, knowing it'd be extremely essential at this hour. Pouring the creamer and sugar into her first cup, she keeps a curious eye on Loki.]

Were you always this apologetic? [Was he? It was hard to tell with the array of trouble he used to cause, sometimes accidental, but mostly on purpose.]

Or are you really just the God of Bacon and All-Things-Breakfast like I suspected? Probably the better one of your titles.
ikols: are just young gods (you know the two of us)

[personal profile] ikols 2015-02-25 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I was always sincere at the time, by and large.

[ Which is a segue for something else to get mentioned, since she's toeing that line. Fiddling with a fork as he awaits his food, he lets his gaze track casually out of the window to watch New Yorkers stalking by. ]

Verity said I'm self-centred. She won't talk to me.

[ EVERYTHING IS FINE, everything is fine. ]

You are. [Self-centered. She's not gonna sugarcoat that fact, especially when it was possibly one of the more obvious things about him in the first place. He was nice enough to let her stay at his place (though it was more like she invited herself and made herself at home), but it didn't change that standing fact. She pauses for a quick moment to sip her coffee before continuing.]

Verity's that friend of yours, right? Let me guess. You screwed up and tried to offer her pancakes to make up for it?
ikols: but you came close to it (you're not my happy ever after)

[personal profile] ikols 2015-02-25 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Wehhh of massive internal proportions. He sighs, wrinkling his nose and stabbing the fork into a crack on the table, worming it in like a spiteful, sulking child. ]

She won't let me explain anything. [ NOT LETTING HIM TALK IS SO AWFUL, augh. ] I would offer her anything if it would stop her being mad with me, the problem is getting her to text back or call, or answer her door, or let me in when I'm at her window.

[None of it surprises her. Been there, done that when it came to dealing with him royally fucking up something in typical Loki fashion. So she's not entirely fazed as she refills half of her cup.]

First of all, you have to give her time. Whatever you did, she's gonna be pissed about it, so let her. If you screwed up, allow her to be upset with you because, chances are, she deserves to be. [Flashbacks of her fury with Noh-varr suddenly come around at this.] If she's claiming you're self-centered, then I can bet you're shoving your problems on other people without thinking. How about trying to consider how she feels about it?
ikols: & oh my tongue is a weapon (i'm the king of everything)

[personal profile] ikols 2015-02-25 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to get her a gift, unique and magical ... something she'd like that would also show the extent of my regrets in the obtaining thereof. She has trouble accepting the fantastical but if I could procure an artefact of reasonable worth to her, that might help. Mightn't it? That's how I'd make reparations with another god, and she thinks I don't value her as highly.

I never wanted her as a sidekick or anything so stupid as all that, she became much more.

[ When his sandwiches arrive, he takes a huge moping bite out of the first, speaking around a mouthful. ]

I'm a fixer, Kate, that's what I do. How many times have people come to me and asked to have wars quelled or heated tempers soothed? I'm supposed to be good at this.

[personal profile] quivers 2015-02-25 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't fix things with gifts, Loki. You can't be my dad who thinks another new car is gonna make everything just magically go away afterwards. [Not that she didn't shamelessly accept those gifts for a long while before she went all "free spirit" on him.]

If you're a fixer, then fix it. But the only way you're gonna be able to do that is if you start realizing that there's more to the equation than just you. You can't just apologize with excuses and then keep dragging people into one mess after another.

[She doesn't even know what went down with Verity, but she gathers up an idea based on experience, which begins to drag up feelings of what happened all that time ago, leaving her sighing as she tries to keep eye contact.]

You're not — you're not an awful guy, okay? [She gives a shrug despite the minor confession.] I know you're not. Not really. But you're not exactly the smartest either.
ikols: do you really look good naked (i'm frustrated)

[personal profile] ikols 2015-02-25 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
But I can be the smartest, so I'll make what I know work when I decide on a solution. I can't believe I'm this morose with bacon so close to hand. [ The latter is mentioned with a dismissive mutter, even as he offers some to Lucky under the table. ] She has a good spirit and a brave heart, Verity. More than many — more than me, certainly.

... Lucky, I need those fingers.

[ Please stop slobbering, oldpup. ]

[Even being blind in one eye, Lucky's sense of smell is more active than ever, drawing in towards the treats that await him in Loki's fingers. Not missing out on a taste, he gobbles it right up, licking at every lingering crumb.

Used to Lucky's eagerness for food, Kate just continues to work at her coffee, not too hungry for anything solid for the time being.]

She'll be okay. Girl's gotta be pretty tough if she can tolerate sticking around you for so long.

[It's meant to be a tease, trying to offer up a joking smirk in the midst of the discussion. She's more used to the more direct approach but since she'd be homeless with Loki right now, she can handle offering a soft touch.]
