Time spent with the person you care the most for is a precious, invaluable thing. Most people take it for granted, though, as they can be with their beloved as much as they'd like. But not you. You and the one you love are kept apart - be it by the people you know, the merit of what you are causing your relationship to be taboo, your true destiny and calling, or even something as relatively mundane as your job.

Today, though, you get a rare private moment with them. This is the first time in quite a while, and may be the last time in months, if not years. What do you do? Comfort each other? Hold each other tight? Have sex? Argue? The specifics are up to you; mix and match your canons, tag someone new to see how this stolen moment plays out.

Bilbo hadn't honestly been that surprised when the dwarves had disappeared. Considering what he and Fili had talked about many a times over and how unhappy it was clear they both were in ways, the hobbit could only wish them the best. Sure, it stung a bit to be left alone but it gave him the time he needed to prepare Bag End and properly pack. Because he was going back to Erebor, one way or another. If the odd looks he got from his former neighbors was any indication, the Shire just wasn't home anymore.

The question was, how was he going to get back.

His question was answered when, a few weeks later found a company of Dwarves making their way through the Shire to seek him out and one look at Lady Dis made it obvious who she was and why she was there. Bilbo had been grateful for the chance to travel back to the mountain among individuals he could trust and, needless to say, he hit it off quite well with Dis.

Their return to the mountain was one full of celebration for the dwarves and Bilbo was more than happy to keep out of sight and mind to allow them their reunions, giving them all a chance to find their family and friends before he dared to approach any of the company members. It was Bofur that he eventually found first and the dwarf had been quick to embrace him, laughing happily as he lifted the hobbit off his feet, declaring how happy he was to see their burglar back. He found all the others in turn until all that was left was speaking with the King under the mountain.

The part he was dreading so he would wait, for now. Thorin and Dis probably had a lot to take about.

Leaning on the wall over the main gate of Erebor, the same wall that he had once almost been thrown over, Bilbo puffed contently on his pipe as he watched the stars and moon above, feeling much more content than he had in quite some time. Who would have thought that a hobbit would find his real home in a mountain? Oh the things the others back in the Shire would say!

Darcy could've led in with the preamble of, "where the hell have you been?!"

But her feet kind of moved without her when she ran over instead. Her arms did things without her brain's permission when she threw them around for a tight, bear hug. And maybe she didn't have complete control of her voice box when the question came out as more of a "thank God you're back safe" instead of an "Asshole, you could've texted."

She was just too glad to have this moment. Just to have this moment right here as she held on tight.
