[It's been... well, it felt like a very, very long time. Oh, they write one another, but it's not the same. Amell frets that her letter's come out too formal, despite her best intentions, and it's hard to pretend that a Raven carrying a letter is anything like a sensible venue for so simple a question as, "Tell me a story?"

They were such stories. Even before Amell was the better-travelled, Leliana had opened the world like a book in her imagination. Orlesian courts with fine silk and finer shoes had seemed a fairyland next to the endless trudge of Ferelden mud. Alas, even now there was little enough time for finery, and plenty of mud, Ferelden or otherwise, coating her boots and the hem of her robes.

But then, that was something to thank Leliana's work for, as well. It was thanks to the Inquisition that a lone mage, even a Warden-mage, could travel this far with as much ease. Or perhaps that was her reputation speaking for her-- once you'd taken on an Archdemon, people tended to think twice about jumping you on the road, at least some of the time. A long walk, regardless of the company, all the way to Skyhold, and all the slack she could give her traveling schedule wouldn't help against a mountain storm. In the end, it was only luck that saw Amell in the courtyard of the now-infamous mountaintop fort in time for sunset on the day of the anniversary. Their anniversary.

But let's not tire ourselves out still further-- Solana snagged a passing kitchen-boy by his elbow, barely twelve, but a good runner.]

Here, now. Do me a favor and there's a silver in it for you; can you run along and find Leliana, tell her I'm here to see her? Go on!

It’s not their first time, actually. It’s not even their second or third if a certain someone wanted to get technical about it. They end up back at Jackson’s, where there’s a distinct lack of parental supervision, making out on the couch, barely finishing watching some movie Stiles was offended to find out Jackson hadn’t watched. They’ve gotten better at this, kissing. The first time they kissed hadn’t been awkward by any stretch of the imagination, but Jackson walked away from that time with more bites and scratches than he would get in a fight. The several other times it happened consisted of adrenaline and hormones and bad timing.

What makes it weird, Jackson finds, is that they’ve been at this for over a month. So, kissing isn’t a first for them. Hanging out wasn't even a first. The only flaw Jackson could see was they haven’t really had the opportunity to take the kissing any further, not when people are always interrupting whenever they feel like it, or some asshole with an emergency calls one of them, or there's some werewolf thing Jackson needs to do, always at a point when he thinks they’re about to go there.

Frustration and Jackson haven't ever gotten along.

So he made arrangements for tonight. Not that Stiles needs to figure that out right away. Or ever, really. It's not like they're dating. But he still tries to make it sound casual, nose digging into Stiles' jaw, when he asks, "So are you staying over?"
