A person cooking is a person giving: Even the simplest food is a gift.— Laurie Colwin

Exactly what it says on the tin: this is the cooking meme and your character is the chef. Are they proficient or just learning? Are they cooking for themselves or a loved one? Or is it a part of their job? Is this a domestic fluff between partners? Whatever it is, tighten up those aprons and sharpen those knives!
 

How this works:

[The men often cooked for themselves around the fire or gained a freshly cooked meal at the nearest inn or tavern. Claire had never been called to do much more than fetch water or some wood for the fire. Which was fine, she had plenty of other matters to keep herself busy and there were some nights when she had been too cross with them to even stand their presence.

After marrying Jamie, her point of view shifted slightly. Maybe she just wanted to thank them in some small way for each of them had played a part in getting her to that altar.

She had been told it would be another day before they reached the next village. With permission, she took some of the fresh fish that had been offered as payment and set about cooking them over the fire along with a some fingerling potatoes. It wasn't much, but the smell would soon start to waft]
