[Okay he chose to be friends with Hongo, who got turned into a cyborg. And then the rest of y'all just kind of fell in line.]

What-- the hell are you apologizing for, apart from showing up almost dead. I'd rather-- [Frowns.]

You're distracting me, shut up.

[He sees that... what the hell is that, a talon? An entire disembodied monster talon arm hand thing?? Hayato are you for fucking real he is going to beat you in the face with that thing once he gets it out of your chest. He takes a moment to... stare, in something caught between fascination and horror, at the internal workings of his friend. He knew, he always knew, that they were mostly metal inside, but he'd obviously never really seen it, and really looked at it.]

[More to the point, that monster talon. He hesitates, making several attempts and stopping before he finally eases his hand into Hayato's torn apart chest cavity, making an... actually pretty comical sound as he does so, because oh my God his hand is in your chest and there is blood and cyborg guts and aaaauughghhggh.]

[Once his fingers close around the offending talon thing, his first instinct is just to yank it out, which he starts to do before he thinks better of it and tugs gently to ease it back out the same way he eased his hand in, because the last thing he wants is to find out that Hayato's weird magical metal cyborg lungs can be punctured and kill him after all this.]

[For the record, he's gone white as a sheet and has held his breath the entire way since his hand got around that talon, now that it's out and in his hand in front of his face.]

[Big Damn Hero complex and vague invincibility aside, nobody ever said he was any good at sticking his hands in his friends and getting covered in their blood.]
