It's no secret that in most modern societies, incest is frowned upon these days. "Keeping it in the family" is no longer a necessity, as people can travel freely and go many places to meet potential mates. Of course, that's not always the case. In some cultures, incest is allowed as long as it's not too close of a relationship; Japan, for instance, permits first cousins to be married, as do many. In addition, incest was often practiced in the past, both for convenience. Still, today, it's mostly taboo, though some continue to partake because of circumstance or other factors.

And, as you all know, memes love breaking a good taboo AND they have quite a lot of...factors.

This one is providing them today, everything from the setting to the relatives. But you don't have a living relative, or the person you're stuck with isn't related to you! No problem. Aren't they really related to you? The meme will make you believe that, at any rate. There's lots of varieties, too, so it's something the whole family can get in on.

With all that in your very own family tree, who needs to climb up another one? Maybe it's an unrequited, one-sided love or a mutual attraction. While you may be hesitant or regretful at first (they don't call it the forbidden fruit for nothing), there's something that will turn the tables towards a little more than familial.

1. Feeling Strange: You've known this person your entire life, yet lately you've been feeling...different about them. These feelings aren't exactly familial, either.
2. Not as Normal Families: Whatever the specifics of the case may be, your childhood was not the norm, and thus the two of you have grown close that way.
3. Raised Apart: Scientists believe that when siblings are raised together under normal circumstances, they will not find each other sexually attractive; however, if they are reared apart, they may be highly attracted to each other when they meet as adults.
4. Only Kin by Name: Psuedo-incest between step siblings or adopted siblings is not quite as taboo, but you could still be looked down upon for harboring those desires for someone who is a member of your family by one way or another.
5. Defender: One of you is older and has always looked after the other, meaning that something has grown between you that is thicker than any blood.
6. Guilty: You feel terrible for these longings toward your own flesh and blood, and you do your best to stop them. But can you choose who you want to be with? And how disciplined are you when it's someone you care for in other ways?

[Ever since he had been informed of his heritage, things had taken a strange turn for Dave Strider. Back in Junon he had been just another kid to a single mom- a fate shared by many kids there, as both men and women left the small fishing village to work long, grueling and often dangerous jobs up in the industrial centers. It seemed as if he was not a person of any greater consequence… until he woke up one day and discovered a ninja with a message that he was the bastard son of the leader of Wutai.

It hadn't taken him and his mother long to say yes to the proposition of moving there, away from the smog and the hard labor that awaited anyone who grew up in the dying fishing village. Wutai was almost like a dream when he arrived- a culture unlike anything he knew, buildings with color other than steel grey, people who looked a little bit more like him... and strangest of all: a little sister. The result of a legitimate marriage none the less, but her mother had passed away and it was as a result of Godo's loneliness that he had looked up his old fling and found out about her new... circumstances. As such, he took his son home.

Yuffie did not approve. What began then was a long period where Dave, ten years old at the time, had to endure the pranks and ribbings of an irate 8 year old who decided Dave was a stupid name for a person and especially stupid for someone who everyone said was now her brother. There were fights. There were shouting. There was hardly a quiet moment.

Dave kind of missed those days because these days, after having saved the world from Sephiroth and Wutai from Geostigma, she had all the time in the world and people who looked the other way no matter what she did. Him waking up to find that Yuffie had snuck into his bed as he slept and wrapped her arms around her, dressed only in her underwear? Business as usual. Had he known this would be the endresult, he would've kept up the antagonism and never tried to be a devoted and caring older brother... what was wrong with Wutai, man?!]
