It started out quietly, and then, quite suddenly, you're caught in a storm. Time to find cover. Nothing much to do but to wait it out.

Scenarios listed below for those who want 'em.

i WHERE:
001 PLAYGROUND - Well, you can try to hide under the slide or maybe in the jungle gym... at least you're some place fun?
002 PARK - Always happens, caught outside trying to take advantage of the weather... and it ends up pulling a fast one on you.
003 STORE FRONT - Better hope they have an awning you can take advantage of
004 THE BEACH - Not exactly the best place to be during a rainstorm, however it is possible to get caught in a sudden storm
005 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it


ii HOW:
001 TREE - Not the best cover, but it'll have to do, stay close to the roots and you won't get too wet.
002 UMBRELLA - Most conventional... Kinda boring. But it works.
003 NEWSPAPER - Not permanent, but it'll have to do. Good luck
004 BAG - Well... y'gotta do what you gotta do.
005 NONE - You know what. You're a rebel. You don't need cover. Screw convention
006 WILD CARD - that's the way you need it


iii WHY:
001 REJECTED - Welp. Rejection sucks. And no one will see you crying in the rain.
002 WAITING - For the bus? For someone else? For some revelation? What are you waiting for.
003 MELANCHOLY - Sometimes the best place to feel a bit down is out in the rain.
004 HAPPINESS - Is everything going your way? Are you singing a refrain while walking down the lane? Just singin. Singin' in the rain.
005 ANGER - WELL YOU KNOW WHAT. SCREW YOU TOO RAIN.
006 WILD CARD - Anyway you want it.

[She just makes a face and listens to the coffee machine gurgles along. She takes two mugs off the mug tree and sets them on the counter for when it's done.]

Then don't flirt with me and then remind me that you try to keep everyone at a distance. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to be invited closer and then have the door slammed in your face?

[She huffs, her hands disappearing into the wide sleeves of her sweater.]

*He sighs, arms falling to his sides as he turns toward the couch.*

Fine, have your distance. I won't flirt if you don't want me tempting you.

[She sighs herself as her gaze falls to the floor.]

It's not temptation so much as it is being easy. ...Too easy to do.

*He was already starting to head toward the couch, tail low to the ground, but he stops at her words and glances back over his shoulder.*

Not everything that's inviting is dangerous, you know. Sometimes things are appealing because you can see the reasons why you'd want them.

Hasn't been my experience in a very long time. The list of things I want is sort of lengthy though so I'm not sure that counts.

Well...when was the last time you took the chance to see if something seemed easy because of a trick or if it was actually the opportunity it looked like?

Longer ago than I really want to talk about.

You know...the more you refuse an opportunity, the more likely it is that you'll lose it for good. Especially when there's other people involved.

What does it matter?

[She wraps her arms around herself feeling small.

Are you really sure you want to spend your entire life alone? That you'd be happier that way than if you let someone who likes and respects you really get close? What would you do if you did manage to convince everyone you might have had something with to stay away, then found out that it hurt watching them move on and find other people?

[patricided]

[She just stays quiet and shrugs. It isn't that big of a deal really. The way things are is good enough. Not that the shrug is a very clear answer one way or the other.]

Why do you insist on picking at this?

*He turns back and starts walking toward the couch again.*

Guess I just have a thing for women I've got no chance with.

*He drops down onto the couch next to his armor.*

What? It's getting pretty obvious you aren't willing to let anyone get that close. Or am I wrong?

Slow down and back up. What are you talking about?

[Her hands give a flail, her sleeves whispering through the air, not that he can see.]

I mean I've got the bad luck of having a tendency to be interested in women who are either taken or just flat out avoiding romance. Dunno why I keep bothering, maybe I'm just more of an optimist than I like to think.

[patricided]

I didn't ask you to be interested in me after a week of being friends with me.

[Her words are soft but with a definite breathy hitch to them. She hadn't expected an actual admission when she asked for clarification. Nor had she expected it to send what felt like a million butterflies fluttering in her stomach.]

*He sighs and rubs his forehead between his horns, eyes squeezing shut. He sounds...tired, almost.*

I didn't ask to be prone to noticing people quickly, either, but it's not like I've ever been able to do anything about it. Aside from get used to watching people I like be happy without me. Believe me, I've tried.

You're assuming things that have no evidence.

[It's mumble, so soft she can barely hear it.]

You pushing me away and telling me to stop being so easy to flirt with isn't evidence? Even if I am the kind of person you'd find attractive...like you said, what's it matter? If you're not willing to let anyone past your walls or even consider reasons why you might want to, wouldn't it be best for both of us if I just...moved on again? I wouldn't be getting my hopes up to get shot down, and you wouldn't have to worry about me being concerned with things you don't want to think about.
