The "Adopted" Sibling or Child Meme

The "Adopted" Sibling or Child Meme

They say blood is thicker than water. Family is everything. But what about the family you choose, the ones that aren't necessarily bound to you by shared blood? Sometimes, they can be closer than anyone you're just related to through chance. You chose them, after all!

This person in particular is someone you're closer to than almost anyone; it's more than friendship, it's darn near familiar. No, more than darn near, it is familial. They may be younger than you, maybe even by a considerable margin, but they may not be. They could just seem that way, in their innocence or vulnerability. You want to protect them more than anything, keep them close, and spend time with them so their life can be improved by whatever you can do.

Officially or unofficially, you've adopted them as your own. Your family, with you as an older sibling or parent figure. This could make things better for them...or worse.

❤ Comment with your character info and the ilk. Be sure to include whether or not your character is more likely to be the adopter or the adoptee. Or both, I don't mind. No judgement here.
❤ Reply to others.
❤ Cute familial fluff, even for the darkest of characters and canons. If Murder: The Anime can do it, so can you!

[Connor blinks and stares at her a moment longer, noticing those markings, and he begins to wonder if his sixth sense is interfering with his sight. Or, perhaps he really is dealing with a spirit.

He accepts the fish, and when she makes no hostile movements, he extends a hand for her to sniff.]

Thank you.
dogspelledbackward: Hope that's not a problem. (Just gonna sit here.)

[Now, if he *did* use his eagle vision, he wouldn't just see those few streaks of red in her fur. He'd see something so blindingly white-gold and wreathed in flame that he likely wouldn't be able to look directly at her for very long. Like staring at the sun. So long as he doesn't use it, he'd just see a humble white wolf.

She wags her tail as she accepts the offer to sniff his hand, giving it a quick lick in the process. See? She's a friend.

She also happens to be a very good listener, so if he's got anything he'd like to get off his chest, just let it all out. Tell mamma your troubles.]

[She might be a listener, but Connor's not much of a talker -- at least not yet. He gives her a rub between the ears after she licks him, but not for too long. He doesn't want to show any disrespect to the spirit.]

I suppose I should build a fire to cook your gift with. You may join me, if you wish.

[Then he moves to stand, clearing a patch of ground and gathering wood he can use to kindle a fire.]
dogspelledbackward: Please tell me you have food. (Do you have food?)

[She almost seems disappointed when he stops, huffing to express her dissatisfaction.

She follows him as he gathers wood, even grabbing a few sticks of her own in her jaws to drag back to his campsite. Occasionally she'll grab at the branches he's already carrying, wagging her tail with a smug sense of self-satisfaction as she walks with him, a stray twig clenched in her teeth. A spirit she may be, but she certainly acts like a big friendly dog.

At one point during his quest to gather firewood, she runs off, only to return a few minutes later with a bundle of freshly-dug wild onions hanging out of her mouth.]

[He's surprised to see her help, but he won't refuse it. She certainly looks pleased enough with herself that he'll let her carry on.

While she's gone, he's managed to build a fire large enough to last them a few hours, with some wood to spare. He sharpens a branch and spears the fish on it ready to cook. When the wolf returns with the onions he smiles and shakes his head, as if he still can't believe what he's seeing.]

At this rate, we will have an entire meal between us.
dogspelledbackward: You gonna eat that? (So... hungry...)

[Dog she may be, but she knows the fundamentals of what makes a good dish, and from her experience, onions go good with fish.

The wolf drops the greens beside the fire and flops onto the ground, watching Connor with big eyes swimming with curiosity and affection, as if looking at one of her own pups.

Or perhaps she's just staring at the fish he's got speared. The drool would certainly suggest that.]

[Connor sets the fish aside to cool a little, next moving to roast the onions, and he smiles when he notices the wolf drooling. His own stomach is growling too -- it's fortunate the fish will be large enough to feed them both.

Once the onions are roasted enough, Connor slices them up along with fish, and offers half of the portion to Amaterasu. Luckily for her he brought a spare wooden bowl to eat from. As he waits for his own food to cool, he asks,]

Do you always offer food to travellers?

[He doesn't expect an answer, but it's at least worth asking, given she can understand speech.]
