Eiri Yuki | Gravitation | ota
Taylor Swift
Did some things you can't speak of
But at night you live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you had seen what you know now then
Wasn't it easier in your firefly-catchin' days?
When everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you
Wasn't it beautiful runnin' wild 'til you fell asleep
Before the monsters caught up to you?
It's alright, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you've been
You're still an innocent
YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Tentatively, he crept up to the door and pressed his ear against it. He didn't hear anything; not the usual sounds of his lover's fingers clicking against the keyboard as those golden words flowed from his fingertips. Shuichi had become accustomed to that sound, and its absence sent a small chill down his spine.
Taking a breath, he tapped on the door with his index finger. "Yuuuuuki?"
SHUICHI STOP WATCHING GORDON RAMSAY
Okay, so he wasn't writing.
He would be, if writing involved lying with his head in his desk, staring off into space and wondering why, after all this time, he could so easily be pulled back into a memory of what happened in New York and suddenly be a worthless mess of unproductiveness that slumped over his keyboard like a sack of potatoes. It was pathetic, he couldn't help thinking, that even now, years down the line, getting caught up in that line of thinking was so easy. It was effortless to get into this unhealthy place in his head, but difficult to get out.
And then, that soft tapping on the door, and Eiri slowly lifted his head. He'd already gotten himself all worked up and he had a headache and a stomach ache and right now, the last thing he wanted to deal with was Shuichi whining at him. But somehow, at the same time, the thought of an interruption into his quiet unhappiness was a welcome one, and so, weighing his options, he decided to acknowledge Shuichi's presence.
"What?" he asked, sounding characteristically unpleasant, voice somewhat strained because wow his head hurt.
NEVER HE'S MY IDOL
"Yuki, you okay in there?" He didn't really know what to say now that he'd gotten the man's attention, but Eiri clearly needed some sort of comfort even if it was through the thick wooden door that kept Shuichi from barging into the office every day.
HE'S A SHITTY COOK
Eiri takes a moment to pause and reflect on his current position, half slumped on the desk, head pounding, writing completely untouched for the last twenty minutes. Okay?
Sure, why not.
"Yeah," he answered eventually, hand rubbing at his temple as his eyes darted to the window, to the dark shapes of branches out in the fading twilight. Damn, was the day really over already? Then, his eyes moved to the door, and it was as though he could see Shuichi on the other side, hovering around it like a concerned little wasp. He let the silence grow at that. If Shuichi wanted to bother him further, that was his problem.
NUH-UH
He hesitated for only a moment before continuing. "Are you sure? 'Cause if something's going on, you can definitely tell me, okay?" It probably wouldn't get through to the man but hey, what else was he supposed to do?
