It happens to everyone - sometimes, you have nights where you just can't fall asleep, no matter what you do. It could be for a number of reasons, or no reason at all. And this is what's happened now: you've been laying in bed for what feels like hours, just tossing and turning, and nothing seems to help. So what's left to do? Get out of bed and go wake someone else up, of course. If you're not getting any sleep, then why should they?

o p t i o n s

01 • FEAR. Maybe you're hearing strange, indeterminable noises; maybe there's a severe storm happening outside; maybe you watched a scary movie before bed? Whatever the reason, you're terrified and it's keeping you awake. You just want to wake someone else up so they can protect you from the monster in your closet.
02 • HUNGER. Your stomach is growling and it just won't stop. Or perhaps your throat is so dry you could cough up a tumbleweed? Well, you've gone to the kitchen to remedy this and hey, that was a pan that just dropped on the floor. It was loud enough to wake the dead! Oops.
03 • PAIN. Your body is completely worn out, be it from exercise, battle, sickness, or what have you. Either way you're in enough pain to keep you from sleeping, so maybe someone else has a home remedy or something, or can at least help you take your mind off of it.
04 • SOLITUDE. For some reason, your bed just feels so empty at the moment. You're feeling terribly lonely and really just want someone to keep you company for a while. Maybe it'd be easier to fall asleep if you're with them...
05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort.
06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help?
07 • SADNESS. Something terrible has happened that day, perhaps; or you could just be severely depressed. Either way you're trying your hardest not to cry yourself to sleep, and it's not working at all. Better find a way to get it out of your system somehow; you need a shoulder to cry on.
08 • ANGER. You are just... fuming. Who knows why - that annoying dog is barking again, or maybe the people next door are getting busy and keeping you awake. Whatever the reason for your ire is, you'd better put an end to it so you can get some damn rest already! Go wake up a friend so you can complain to them.
09 • RESTLESS. You're far too energetic to sleep right now. Maybe you're just trying to do so out of necessity - you have to be up early tomorrow! But you just don't think you'll be able to fall asleep for a while now, so why waste the time trying to sleep when you could be doing something else? Namely bothering someone else - you're totally jealous because they're getting more sleep than you.

[Time travel, Damian has decided, is not at all what people make it out to be. It is not exciting or fascinating, it is merely obnoxious and exhausting and he would really like to be back to the right time already. Whoever gave actual time travel tech to the Clock King needed to be punched in the face repeatedly. With a knife.

From what they'd gathered from the other victims of his forced time travel gadget, eventually the effects merely wore off. Until then, Damian was left to lurk on the rooftop as he waited, nursing a deep gash in his shoulder and what appeared to be a broken arm that he had acquired upon his rather ungraceful entry into this timeline.

It's nearing three AM and by his own calculations he still has several hours left here, but he is undecided where to go. Going to the manor could prove to be problematic (especially in this uniform) and since he can't be sure if his presence will disrupt the timeline, it's best to stay on his own. His current position is fairly out of sight (though a passing vigilante might notice) and he has half a mind to simply sleep on the roof for at least a little while to pass the time.

He is exhausted after all and sleep sounds amazing, but paranoia (and the pain radiating down his arm) keeps him sitting up.

With a sigh, Damian resolves himself to staying up and keeping watch over a sleeping Gotham that doesn't belong to him (yet) and counting on the time to wear off or Grayson and Father to bring him back. He has full faith in their ability to do so, but damn does he wish they would hurry up and do it already.]

10, Cole doesn't sleep?

For a while, he had given Skyhold the unfortunate reputation of being haunted, a barely remembered and barely seen figure wandering the halls at night, offering whispers of comfort from the darkness.

Of course, the inner circle are all quite familiar with Cole's nightly wandering. They might not be so familiar with the fact that he actually goes to each of them during the night. Even if they don't draw him with their nightmares, he likes to go and see that they're sleeping and safe.

At some point early in his life, he realized that the pretty lady that came to see Jarvis wasn't some other girlfriend, but more like a super spy agent, Tony thought she glowed when she walked. Of course, he'd been a kid then. And he'd wait up and watch for her whenever he was home from boarding school so he could get a look at the lovely British girl that his father figure helped out even though he hated leaving the mansion with Tony there. The man was highly protective after all.

But now he was much older, and where he tried to pretend that he didn't wait up to see her, he still did. She came far less often now that Jarvis seemed to be getting less capable as the years went on. However, she still looked as young and beautiful as the first day he'd seen her talking to Jarvis in the halls.

Tonight, he'd not even thought about waiting up. MIT slowly sucked his focus away and he spent most of his time trying to drive Howard insane or simply buried in his own work. Not to mention it had been a while since he'd last gotten the chance to flirt with her pitifully as he had in the past. So when he was pacing in the main hall that led to the foyer, he was softly talking to himself as he wrote in the air as though it were an imaginary chalk board. He had codes in his head that he'd been writing and rewriting in his head for hours. And it went long into the night.

When it clicked, he wrote it down in the book in his hands when went back to his air writing, a line creasing his forehead. He needed the space to move and move a lot. He had so much energy for someone that rarely slept. At some point, he knew he felt Jarvis resting a hand on his shoulder as he walked by. Just a reminder that he was there... unlike his parents.

[it was not easy for meditation to come to him this eve; there were too many questions, too many thoughts that plagued him in this tumultuous time. there was the question of Tauriel, of her being safe, of the hurt that he still felt seeing her heartbreak over the dwarven prince, and the question of his father.

it was the last one that had him up and pacing at the time when the stars shine the brightest. and yet, he did not notice them as he stared out the window from his room, more tangeld up in his thoughts and the look on his father's face on the battlefield than starlight and the journey that lay before him.

there is little point to his waderings after that, tired of cold starlight and instead seeking out the familiar halls of his childhood. he eventually ends up in the throne room, not all that surprised to find his father there, though he was not as regal looking as Legolas had expected.]

Newly released, the Nogitsune didn't question yet the 'when' of where it was. That much time couldn't have passed, could it? Didn't seem like that long, but time was a tricky thing when contained. It couldn't be sure. Could be a few hours, could be a year. Or years.

None of that was considered as it stood over Stiles' bed. The bed of the person it still wore even if the Nogitsune's visage looked sickened and dying. A fingertip lifted to the Nogitsune's lips as it hissed to Stiles.

"Shhhhh."

After it quieted (or it hoped to quiet) Stiles, then it would find out where Scott and the others were. Where those it wanted to sip the agony from were hiding. Yes, it would find that out. It intended to lick the pain and fear from their skins and leave dead husks.

"Hello, Stiles. Miss me?" it asked, smiling in a skeleton's grimace with Stiles' stolen face.

Mogget sleeps under Ranna's spell most of the time, though sleep does not mean he feels the grip of servitude any less than he did under Saraneth. But for once it is he that is awake and someone else that is sleeping... a problem easily remedied.
