The Cyborg Meme
The Cyborg Meme
Isn't technology great?
For one reason or another, you're now part organic, part robotic. Roll a number, pick your favorites, or choose your own robotic adventure!
Write which role(s) you want to play, if you're up for being the one cyborged, feel free to describe what your character's new modified body is like.
Roles:
1. Cyborg - For whatever reason, you're a cyborg. Maybe you were turned into one because of the scenarios below, maybe you've been one for as long as you can remember. Are you a cyborg helping out a brand new one get used to their new body?
2. The One Doing the Cyborging - Are you a doctor who uses robotic parts to help save lives? Or maybe you're a mad scientist sticking electronic bits to people to see what happens. Perhaps you're a cyborg yourself and wanted to make someone like you. There's a lot of reasons to cyborg someone, everybody has their own thoughts towards the matter.
3. Bystander - You're just passing by, another doctor checking up on a patient, a jailer set to make sure that the experiment didn't escape. You're not a cyborg, nor are you the one who made them that way, but now you've got to deal with the results one way or another.
4. Other - Is there somehow else your character would be involved? Have fun with it!
Scenarios
1. Forced Cyborgification - You've been captured, maybe by a group of aliens or perhaps by a mad scientist, and now they've outfitted you with new limbs and maybe even a brand new processor. Perhaps you're fresh out of surgery or your time in the machine, or someone's broken you free and the operation is only partially done.
2. Willing Cyborgification - Robots are just plain cool! Maybe you want to be stronger or jump higher or maybe you just want to be the first to have robotic parts attached to you.
3. Cyborgified to Save Your Life - Something happened to put you on death's doorway and the only way to live is to be robotically enhanced. You have a choice in the matter, unless you're unconscious or otherwise out of it, but if you want to live, you've got to be modified.
4. Reverse Cyborgification - You're a robot and you've always been a robot, but for some reason, you've now got organic parts attached to you. Maybe you were part of an experiment or maybe you just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Don't worry, they're 100% lab-grown! (Unless you don't want them to be, of course.)
5. Other - Got a different idea for how your cyborgification went? Go for it!

This body was, originally, human. But it's got elements now of the Shadow within it, which they can use to mold it into something more beautiful... divine, almost, perhaps. Using that same mixture from earlier helps, of course, with her pliability. The small buzzsaw cuts into the bones and features and such, and it's incredibly bloody, replacing the parts that could so easily fail in a human with parts that won't, ever.
There is, of course, one more very important thing. A shapeshift function. So that will be needed, allowing her to conveniently change between the more mechanical and humanoid forms, much like they themselves do. The larger tools prove largely unnecessary, fortunately. The only alteration that large needed in her was something she would be able to change on a whim anyway, so it's simple.
A tiring operation, to be certain, but most definitely one worth it. And thanks to the technology available, recovery shouldn't take long at all, they think. A nice Mutagen solution to keep that DNA pliable, and it's practically a perfectly self-controlled Shadow. Better than a Persona--those were weak, accepting yourself came with risks, and you couldn't use that power outside this world, right?
Well...
If there's still some parts human, then, this power should be easily accessed regardless. When it is all over, their labcoat (and face) is stained in varying liquids. Blood. Mutagen. Mandrake solution. They are tired, a bit, but it was a worthy change. All that can be done now is allow this world to heal her on its own, and wait for her to recover. It makes sure an IV and other things are given, of course, until such time; no need to be a poor doctor, after all! ]

It takes much longer for her to drag herself back into consciousness this time. Though, it wasn't as difficult as it could have been: the Mutagen solution constantly being pumped by a new mechanical heart made sure of that.
There's a dull, throbbing pain in the parts of flesh that still remain. It's not like the deep burning that came with the introduction of the original formula but a faint whimper still comes from her as she begins to stir awake]

They're satisfied with their work, in all honesty. It had been a difficult process, but at long last, one who wasn't a failure! ]
Why good morning~! Or good evening, perhaps?
no subject
The Shadow, however, is intrigued. Her body was stiff but it didn't seem too big anymore. It felt more like the doll-like body the Shadow had been used to. She turns her head.]
You've been busy... [She's not entirely awake yet.]

[ Creepily enough, it's being sincere, there. It'll just continue sitting here, swinging its legs that dangle off the gigantic table, too short to reach the floor. ]

[The fact that they were covered in various things didn't seem to bother her at all.]
...Miss Drevis sounds so old.
no subject
[ Flopping sleeves. Flop flop. ]
You seem to be feeling a bit better already!
no subject
[She's sore but it doesn't hurt.]
no subject
[ They're quite proud of their handiwork. ]
You are most definitely an interesting patient, you know. I can teach you much. And... thanks to your assistance, I should finally be able to leave this infernal world.
no subject
[She's intrigued by this whole thing, now that she's no longer afraid. This could be interesting
no subject
[ If they're honest, it's also really, really lonely. ]
no subject
[It's almost a natural thought, now. The Shadow within her didn't exactly want to be alone...and maybe this operation could be performed on Maria, as well.]
no subject
[ They're entirely unable to hide their childish delight at the thought. Congratulations, Aya, they are unable to act cool around you now. ]
no subject
[She remembers now, the memories settling eventually into the right order. The house in the woods. The clinic. The large basement.]
You...did a great favor for me, it's the least I can do.
no subject
Please... please... PLEASE take me with you! ... Ah, I have to see if the solution is going to function, first, but--!
no subject
Of course!

[ ... They'll slowly move back, then, and run into another nearby adjacent room. They have preparations to make... a lot of them.
They must make sure this body, too, is ready. The injection won't take long... although, certainly, for a Shadow to take on human DNA... is not unpainful. And for a little while, they collapse onto the ground, but it's all right.
This is necessary... this will be fine... ]
no subject
What was taking so long? She hadn't heard anything. Maybe she should go check...? She walks voer to the door.]
no subject
[ After all of it, it's fine. Just fine... at the door there is an obvious trail of some kind of black gunk--blood, perhaps, and a robotic-looking creature, a building up of energy as their body slowly overcomes all of it, but the Shadow will look back to Aya, mechanical, obviously less-human side facing her. ]
Excuse me. The reaction is taking longer than I would have thought, it seems.
no subject
Is the process working?
no subject
Well, the real test, I suppose, will be seeing whether or not I can leave.
[ There is a very loud mechanical whirring noise as the Shadow slowly stands, flexing various parts of its body. Accepting human DNA into it with this mutagen was--tricky. But if they're right, they should be allowed to leave, they think. ]
At the very least, I can get you out of here quickly enough. Are you prepared?
no subject
[She nods.]
Yes.
no subject
[ They are going to offer her two very mechanical arms, in this case. It's a simple gesture: hold on. ]
Please do not let go.
no subject
I won't.
