Still, kinda awkward to have a conversation with someone when they're looking in a different direction. I like to be able to see the faces of the people I'm talking to without having to lean at funny angles.

I just hope for your sake that you don't get surprised by an incubus. Distraction tactics are a sex demon's main go-to for trying to get a human off their guard.

Not just talking about jobs. They tend to go after good looking men and women and subtle types like that get full of themselves. Your demon slaying record wouldn't turn them off.

You make it sound like I would be easy prey. Wooed simply because they look pretty and have good moves.

[Which admittedly could describe present company and their host, but hey whatever.]

I'm saying you'd make a tempting target. And if seeing an indecent guy puts you this far off your game, you probably would be easy prey to someone that isn't above stealing a kiss and your life energy at the same time.

Trust me. There are people like that.

Sorry, habit. Concern for others...well, it's kind of viewed as stupidity downstairs. I'm used to being accused of weakness whenever I do something counter to the idea of always looking out for number one.

Yeah, human. So what do you call it when it's a trait of a demon, a species that hunts humans because they're generally safer prey than anything in the underworld?

That's the question I've been stuck on most of my life. But it's not that it isn't a weakness. It is, it's something that can be exploited and it makes it harder to survive when there's not enough to go around. The really important part isn't whether or not it's a risk...it's whether or not it's worth it.

I don't know you're only the second true demon I've met that hasn't tried to kill me on sight.
