[ at first, Nagisa visited the library to study so he could keep up with his classes, to not fall behind and disappoint his mother. but when his eye managed to catch sight of Kuroko Tetsuya at the library check-out desk, that became Nagisa's new reason to frequently come to the library. with them being in different classes, it's hard for Nagisa to find Kuroko during the day but the school library was one place he knew for sure where Kuroko was. (of course there was the basketball gym too but Nagisa wasn't going to bother the team's practice)

he's not sure what it is about Kuroko that enamors him, but Nagisa enjoys watching Kuroko from his desk, hidden behind a textbook. studying people has always been Nagisa's hobby but Kuroko captures his attention the most. while he would love to talk more to Kuroko, be friends and spend more time with, Nagisa never has the courage and the only time he exchanges words was when he checks out a book.

so as usual, Nagisa sits at the desk where he could get a good view of the counter where Kuroko is and sneaks glances while studying his science textbook ]

[Kuroko hadn't been completely clueless. For one, to be noticed was a rare thing for him, as low as his presence was. To feel as if someone was staring had been quite the strange sensation indeed. Being seen was a strange sensation.

It wasn't like he doesn't understand. Kuroko watches too, though no one in specific. Comfortable in his invisibility, he observes, taking in people's days and interactions, never intentionally being anywhere but enjoying the public atmosphere around him.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, Kuroko is also a direct person. When he feels the eyes on him today, he stops what he's doing and looks back, willing to wait for those eyes to come back to him to connect. It's not an angry plan for confrontation so much as a plan to allow the boy a chance to say what it is it seems he needs to say.]

[ Nagisa has always been good at sensing people's gazes at him, so when he feels one coming from a rather familiar direction, he slowly looks up. seeing Kuroko looking straight at him, he can't help but his face to flush and quickly duck behind his text book.

Nagisa tries to regain his composure as his mind races why Kuroko would be looking at him. was he too loud? acting oddly? or... or too obvious? maybe it was just a coincidence.

gripping the edges of his book tightly, he cautiously looks up again... ...oh, nope Kuroko's still looking. and Nagisa can't help but freeze and stare back at the other's eyes. after all, it was always sneaking glances, and he hardly had chances to study the other boy's eyes ]

[He closes his book and slides off his chair, so Nagisa would soon be able to see his eyes up close. Likely, they should talk, even in Kuroko has no idea what the other boy wants to talk about. Was he a basketball fan? That would be a first, someone not in basketball really enjoying the game. That would be nice, even, especially considering Nagisa must be quiet the observer to have noticed someone with such low presence.

He stops once he's close. He doesn't smile but he doesn't smile a lot, and his voice is polite. He's not angry, after all, just curious.]

It looked like you wanted to talk to me. I'm Kuroko Tetsuya.

[Those two sentences didn't normally go with one another, but it seemed impolite to start and not introduce himself.]

[ Nagisa stands up as well, he's not exactly sure why, but it felt... awkward to be sitting when Kuroko was standing and well, he can feel his skin flushing darker as each second went by. his eyes swim as he nervously smiles at Kuroko ]

I-I'm Shiota Nagisa. I'm... from the class next to yours. I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable or anything, it really wasn't my intention, I didn't even expect you to notice...

[ because although Nagisa wasn't like Kuroko in the sense that he was "invisible", Nagisa wasn't exactly anyone that stood out. sure his feminine looks often confused passersby but other than that there was nothing special that stood out and he was so careful in his fond gazing of the other boy.

unsure of what to say next, he looks down at his fidgeting hands, wondering if it was better to just apologize again and run ]

[This would probably be awkward in some form, either way, but it wasn't good to just ignore it. They could speak openly and honestly, and that was the best way to deal with most situations.]

It doesn't bother me, but I was surprised. [There's no getting away from that. No matter how he looked at it, this was such a change from how he was normally viewed. Even his friends regularly lost him.] I wondered if there was something you wanted to say.

[ Nagisa is glad that Kuroko didn't seem bothered, but he freezes up once more at "something you wanted to say". because... well... god, how he can actually explain to Kuroko the mess of emotions he felt when looking at the other boy.

but it was a chance. maybe not to confess, but at least to get acquainted, to be closer, to know more. and wasn't that a huge step forward from the sneaking glances in the library? ]

I... I wanted to say.... [ he takes a couple of deep breaths and looks back up at Kuroko ] I think you're a beautiful person.

[ oh wait. no. no that wasn't what he wanted to say ]

Wait, no that's not what I meant, I mean, I do think you are but it's not what I was thinking of saying! [ Nagisa covers his flaming face with his hands, wanting to just melt down to the ground ]

[Kuroko doesn't surprise easily and he's exceedingly good at hiding any surprise he does feel. A beautiful person? Was that a confession? He wasn't the first person to confess to him, though he's definitely the first stranger to do so, if that was what it was.

...He has to admit shy was cute. He liked those qualities, really. Quiet, shy, traits that were usually considered feminine, he supposed. But that's secondary. He should figure out how to handle the confession instead of making the poor boy stand there so red faced.]

Thank you. [Okay, he'd start with dealing with the fact it's a compliment.] It's good that you said it. I don't know if it's a crush, but it's good to be straight forward with those.

[ at that moment, Nagisa can't help but to fall in love with Kuroko a little more because he doesn't laugh, he doesn't look disgusted, he doesn't look bothered. and Nagisa's throat constricts a bit because he's nervous, but the red in his face settles down a little.

he lets out a small audible breath while lowering his hand from his face. if he was going to be straight-forward he might as well say it all the way ]

I think the way you sit is beautiful. And how you move your fingers, your body. Your voice too. It's...it's clear and it's not exactly eye-catching. But it's always with purpose and firm. It's clean and simple. I don't know you directly, but when I get to see you, I think it's beautiful. Everything.

[ Nagisa thinks it's a small miracle his voice doesn't crack as he finishes conveying his straight-forward feelings. but he feels a little lighter after saying it and he doesn't regret it at all ]

[That seemed like a lot to get off of his chest, but he does well. More importantly though, he was just confessed to and that deserved a reply. Kuroko was raised to be a gentleman, and he felt this should be handled the same way.]

That was good, but I can't return anything yet. Since we've just met, I don't know much about you.

[He is cute, and in a way a lot of people could likely see him as feminine. Did he actually read or had he come in here to watch Kuroko?

[ Nagisa knows that Kuroko doesn't know him at all. he never expected a reply after all. it's more than he wished for when Kuroko doesn't brush the confession off.

even now Kuroko was continuing the conversation, asking about Nagisa. and that action is enough to make Nagisa's heart flutter ]

I don't mind books. [ the flush in his cheeks were slowly disappearing as Nagisa slowly became more relaxed ] I've never been a huge reader though. But I like the quietness of the library and it makes a good study spot.

[ although nowadays the studying was only a quarter of the reason he frequented the library. half of it was solely to see Kuroko and the other quarter was the atmosphere of the place. it was quiet and it was a refuge from everything else outside those library doors. ]

I'm part of the library committee, so I spend a lot of time here, when I'm not playing basketball. [He enjoys being with books.] It's not really good to talk in the library, since people are trying to study. [He does make sure his own voice is low, unintrusive.]

[ Nagisa knew Kuroko practiced basketball. he had luckily been able to find the other just once in the gym practicing (it was only a fleeting moment however) when Nagisa was heading home.

at Kuroko's suggestion, his heart leaps up ]

I'm just about done with studying! [ Nagisa blushes a bit at his sudden outburst, putting his hand over his mouth. he looks around apologetically to the other students before continuing on in a smaller voice ] I've finished with my homework, and I can review at home...

U-Unless you have to finish up your library committee responsibilities!
