THE BITTY MEME.

Simply put. You are a small child. Or alternatively someone dealing with a small child. Either you turned into a kid or you're having to deal with a friend or individual who is now a child.

1. Playground: You're on a playground, either wrangling a small child or you're playing on the best playground, ever.

2. Toys: You're a kid in a toy store! Hooray!
Or..You're an adult in a toy store! Damn it!

3. Big Bad "something or other": You're a scared small children for some reason, maybe there's thunder or explosions or something.

4. Food Too much sugar, too much something or other.

5. Making Friends and Wildcard option: Your character's a kid. Go nuts with that.

excuse you this is ridiculous slander, or libel. whichever. she is the opposite of ridiculous okay.

It's a difficult thing, being caught between two conflicting emotions. On the one hand, it's clearly something for babies.

On the other hand, Arik is the pinnacle of taste and grownup-ness. If he thinks it's acceptable, it must be.

"...really?"

She's growing up, but she's a child still at heart. If there's anything he's learned from his parents, it's the importance of spending time as a child actually acting like one.

So his grin is easy as he nods.

"Yeah. 'd be fun, don't y'think?"
lowtohigh: (the simple sunshine)

[personal profile] lowtohigh 2014-12-21 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah."

But that isn't to say she isn't going to cling to his hand if they're going to actually investigate. Confidence with the adults in her life hasn't quite translated into confidence with children her own age.

Besides, she's not going to risk Arik backing out and deciding the playground is beneath them.
lionceau: (his father's smile)

...also gdit this is why i shouldn't mobile tag. she is absolutely the most ridiculous.

He won't back out, at least. Maybe his presence is even something which will encourage the other children to treat her with kindness.

He'll be here, regardless.

"'s a whale, 'sn't it?" he asks cheerfully as they approach, "C'n you tell what kind?"
lowtohigh: (eyes like her mother)

no unpossible your silence spoke volumes unridiculous it is

"Nnhn. It's a blue whale." Her fingers tight around his swing very slightly as she points with her other hand. "'cause humpbacks have white on their flippers and ventral pleats."

Which the not-scientifically-accurate play structure didn't, alas.

"Yeah?' There's genuine interest in his tone. This isn't something he'd been particularly interested in before Eileen did, and even now he preferred to let his cousin teach him the ropes, "'s there any kinda special marking for blue whales, then? D'they have a blue-- stomach 're something?"
lowtohigh: (the work we grow into)

now who is ridiculous B| <3

It's always easier to talk about science than about... well, whatever it is other children always seem to be talking about. Her mind isn't wired to retain popular literature and nursery rhymes the way it's equipped to handle scientific facts and mathematical figures.

"They're not really blue. They're grey. An' they've got-- grey bellies, except for sometimes the ventral pleats turn yellow from an accumulation of diatoms."
lionceau: (concentrate)

perhaps it is me. perhaps B|

[personal profile] lionceau 2014-12-24 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Well. That's got a briefly confused nose wrinkle.

"So how come 's not the yellow whale, then?"
lowtohigh: (hold it in your hands)

it is part of why i love you B)

"Because they look blue when they're underwater."

Duh, Arik. Clearly and obviously. Less clearly and obviously, of course, the fact she's talking about something safe and known makes it worlds easier to let go of her cousin's hand when they reach the structure.
lionceau: (concentrate)

oh phew /o\ <333

"But everythin's blue underwater, Edie."

It's a half-hearted attempt to keep on the banter, but mostly he's letting her go play. His smile is entirely pleased as she drifts away.
lowtohigh: (really quite exciting)

♥♥♥!

The little crinkle she gets in her nose isn't actually from her uncle--it comes directly from her cousin.

"Don't be silly."

But also, apparently, don't be expecting too much conversation for a moment or two of Eileen actually seeming to enjoy herself scrambling around with other children.

And do expect to have the blue-ness of water discussed when she eventually tumbles back to his side.
lionceau: (toldja so)

[personal profile] lionceau 2014-12-24 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Can't. Silly's my middle name."

And watching over his baby cousin is his other middle name. And discussing the colour of water, well.

Not his middle name, but it's a fun thing to have anyways.
lowtohigh: (bit of sunlight)

[personal profile] lowtohigh 2014-12-25 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
She's fairly certain his middle name isn's silly. She's fairly certain he's gotten saddled with a terrible family name the way she has been.

She's also fairly certain she's not so big she can't have a piggyback ride home.

She's certain only about the most important things.
