Marriage for love is a such a modern concept. In the past, marriage was
recognised as a social contract. Unions were entered into for many
reasons: to obtain property, to unite families, to carry on a bloodline,
et cetera. Whatever the reason, congratulations, you're getting married!

POSSIBLE REASONS FOR MARRIAGE:
① Station → You come from a royal, noble, or otherwise distinguished family who has chosen a suitable spouse for you.
② Feud → You are being married to put an end to the bitter enmity between your two families.
③ Economics → Your economic state and/or your station will improve through the union, though one of you may be marrying down.
④ Empire → You and your spouse are merging your businesses and/or property to create something more influential or profitable.
⑤ Tribute → You have been offered as a gift or appeasement, alternately you're the spoils of war.
⑥ Bloodline → Carrying on your distinguished family name has fallen to you and the equally well-bred spouse of your family's selection.
⑦ Disapproval → Your marriage has been arranged to keep you away from the person with whom you truly wish to be.

POSSIBLE SCENARIOS:
① First meeting → This is the very first time you're meeting your future spouse.
② Courtship → To get to know each other and encourage affection, your family has approved of you going on dates.
③ Engagement party → Be it a huge, formal affair or a small, intimate get together, you're celebrating (or pretending).
④ Wedding day → The big day!
⑤ Reception → The big party!
⑥ Wedding night → Every meme needs a smut prompt, right?
⑦ Honeymoon → Where will you go with your new spouse and what will you do there?

[An arranged marriage at this time and age sounded a bit strange to Yukimura, but here he were making his way over to the café that their parents had set up as their meeting place. It wasn't much information he had been given about the other either. One name and a picture. Was this so he could make his own opinion upon meeting the other in person? Not that he let what others said cloud his own judgement.

Well he had promise his parents that he would at the very least meet his intended once before voicing any opinions. Looking down on his note with the address to the café again, Yukimura confirmed that he had reached his destination. Now he just had to look and see if the other had arrived yet or if he was the early one.]

[Jeile did not know what he should feel about the final decision that he would marry. Yes he knew that it would happen eventually being the royal heir, but he hadn't suspected it going down quite like this. However he could fully understand the reasoning behind the union. Two realms, each holding great powers that could crush the other. A peaceful solution was much more preferred then going into all out war.

But even understanding all of this and being fully updated on on all the information since he had been present during the meetings in the role of the commander over the army, it did not help his nerves. He had fully accepted that he would be the only one suited for this marriage since he was the only one from the main house as of age. His brother was still only a child. But he knew nothing of the one he were intended to wed and he suspected that it was the same the other way around.

Why he had placed the request of at least trying to get to know the other before the wedding. So he was waiting in the garden by the roses, trying to let their sweet scent calm him down if just slightly. He did not wish to make a fool out of himself the first thing he did.]

[Artanis tried not to pace as she waited for her intended to arrive. It wasn't just nerves- though that was certainly a part of it- it was irritation as well. Resentment. Truth be told, she had no desire to be married at all, but certain political considerations had made this necessary.

The Kinslaying had been a disaster and, needless to say, nearly destroyed relations with the Sindarin elves. No further violence had broken out as of yet, but it had been deemed...wise, to create a more permanent form of alliance between Thingol's people and the descendants of Finwë. And, as an unattached, politically savvy young woman- one whose hand was in high demand- Artanis had been chosen for the task.

That didn't mean that she had to be happy about it. She was still half tempted to bolt, even now. Middle Earth was wide and she could easily become lost in it, carve out some realm for herself. But no, duty to family kept her here, at least for the moment. And even if she does not look enthusiastic, she does look beautiful, her long hair hanging loose with little white flowers woven into it. Let it not be said that she was not making an effort.]

[Thingol had no son, as Finwë had no daughter, but in a situation like this sometimes the rules needed to be flexible, even if they could not be broken. The nephew, near to being a son, of one and granddaughter of the other was as close a match as might be made, and so they had made it. Celeborn was not sure why the one had been chosen and not the other, Artanis instead of Aredhel, beyond perhaps the fact that Thingol would not have consented. Aredhel, if all he had heard was true, was more intimately connected with those responsible for the murder of his kin. It mattered very little to him - this did not seem fair, and he hated it, to have his life ordered this way and that. He had become no more than a consideration, if that, in the events of his own destiny. He felt he'd lost control, and in such a way.

Some alliance had already been forged between the houses, in the marriage of Eärwen and Finarfin, which already seemed it would make this redundant. There would be ties enough had they not been cut with the slaying at Alqualondë and the rape of its ships, with the murder of elves who had done not greater wrong than to deny a robber his demands, and it had been their blood shining under the light of the stars in that day and staining the water black. And now these elves, these murderers, came begging alliance once more, and he was to be a tool in its creation. They deserved no such chance. But he had been asked.

The one Enemy was such as would not allow such dissent in the ranks of those who opposed him - a little here or a little there, perhaps, one group cut off from another, but no such chance as this, where forces were so wholly divided. It was more important, he had been told, though he was still not convinced of the worth of allies who had already turned with swords to those who by blood or friendship they should owe some measure of allegiance to. But he had been asked nonetheless, and the queen herself had spoken in its favor, and so he had given his consent. He hated himself for that action now nearly as much as the ones who had arranged it, on the threshold of everything becoming real. It was nothing but an idea before they met.

He found her waiting, as had been promised, and a not insignificant part of him was disappointed that he had. She was very lovely, he saw as he looked upon her for the first time, as though created from the new-made sun. Still, how could that change any of what she and her family were? [Winning in battles were a necessity for his Shadows to live, and fit within this world full of light. While it may seem unfair to those who lived among the life it was a fact of life.

Speaking of battles just recently they had won against yet another faction of the light. In return for sparing them, they offered Zed a tribute. Admittedly Zed did always have a liking towards the light (whom Mork disapproved of) and he agreed to their pleas, and arranged for a meeting between himself and said "tribute".

He was placed into his formal attire before being escorted to where they arranged the meeting. He was lead to a private room for just the two of them. Stepping through the door Zed orders for his escorts to await outside the door. He'd rather have privacy with this tribute to be, and had no need for his escorts to interrupt their time together.]
