The Let's Fucking Cuddle Meme

action is fun and smut is nice and mysterious magical hijinks through space and time are the bomb diggity. and sometimes you just want to aggressively cuddle your friend/sibling/parent/pet/lover/acquaintance/this new person you are meeting now.

this meme is for just that: latching on and not letting go until that what/whoever has been cuddled.

how this works;
1. post your character with as much/little information as you want (name/series/preferences/whatever).
2. go to rng for a number for where and why the cuddles are happening. or just pick one.
3. respond to others.
4. cuddle. but like. really cuddle. no one is letting go until everyone is completely thoroughly cuddled.

a. where
1. by a heat source : because outside is cold but this fire/space heater/demon is warm and cozy and just right. winter is just getting started, okay.
2. away from a heat source : wow going out into the snow during a rainstorm a million miles from the nearest blanket was a poor choice--but wait. there's snuggles.
3. a private place : maybe you're watching a movie on the couch, maybe you're catching up on the newspaper in the breakfast nook, maybe it doesn't matter because whatever you're about to be cuddled.
4. a public place : cuddle time waits for no man or no "more appropriate" setting sometimes. out in a park, in an airport, in the middle of a food court--the time for snuggles is now and other people be damned.
5. somewhere else : if somehow a place which is unrelated to heat and/or neither in or outside. even in such a place there can still be cuddles.

b. why
1. the sleepies - it's been a long day and all you want to do is close your eyes for a bit. do this by claiming someone as a cuddle you can sleep on.
2. bad weather - heavy rain, thunder, blizzard, monsoon; these are things which ruin plans. luckily, they cannot ruin cuddles.
3. because surprise - is your buddy working too much and needs a distraction? are you being ignored when you need a hug? does the love just need to be spread? whatever it is, they won't see it coming until they're being snuggled.
4. activity conducive - maybe you're watching a movie or reading a book or squished together in a train car or dancing to the point of exhaustion or waiting in line for a thing. it's just super easy to change whatever you're doing into being a pile of cuddles. so do it.
5. so emotion very love - it's totally platonic but still totally overwhelming. the love you have for this person just needs to be expressed, and only a clinging of cuddles will do. hug them. hug them now and also forever.
6. jeepers creepers - was it a spider in the washroom, a ghost in the attic, a bad dream, a figment of your imagination, an actual serial killer? probably all. probably a nightmare ghost spider serial killer breaking out of your imagination. clinging to someone might fix it.
7. there, there, little friend - sick in bed, just been dumped or having some other sort of crappy day, you need someone to wrap their arms around you and make everything go away.
8. that other thing - whatever, you do what you want. you go, cuddle friend. you do your thing.

[Chihiro isn't the only one to jump-- and with much more of a dramatic sound. In a garage, the sound of thunder isn't easy to register at first, and Souda being the weenie he is, he can't keep himself from the shock and from grasping Chihiro's shoulders.

After a brief pause, Souda draws in a breath and lets it out slowly.

Thunder. He totally just screamed over thunder. Good going, Kazuichi.]

[Well if the thunder didn't scare him, Souda's sudden shriek of terror does that well enough. Chihiro stiffens and immediately covers his face with his hands, to protect himself from God knows what as he feels something take hold of his shoulders. It takes him a moment after the thunder has subsided to a low rumble to realize that it's just Souda, and not something smashing its way through the garage to attack them both.

He peeks through his fingers up at the mechanic, his voice soft.]

A-are you okay, Souda-san?

Yeeeaaaah, I'm fine!

[It comes out sheepish, high pitched-- he's a little frazzled. Souda's probably the only one capable of freaking out pretty much exactly like a Scooby Doo cartoon.]

That was. Really loud.

[An understatement. Regardless, it takes him a few moments to move-- to finally let go of Chihiro and shove his hands awkwardly around his own middle.]

[He nods shakily in agreement, his arms finding their way around his legs again as Souda moves away.]

It...sounds like it's just getting worse.

Y-yeah...

[Souda whines, slumping forward as he listens to the howling wind and the rattling of the garage door.]

But it's not... flooding, at least? [Small comforts.]

It'll be fine!

[Well that causes Chihiro to look over at the door of the garage quickly, his eyes widening a bit.]

...Y...yes...

[...don't mind him just sliding a bit closer to you, Souda.]

[At least Souda isn't too thick to realise he's gone and worried Chihiro. He puts on a grin, giving him a thumbs up, and scooches a little closer.]

Don't worry about it! You can count on me if anything else happens.

[Ah, yes, the reliable Kazuichi.]

[He smiles slightly in spite of his uncertainty, because now all he can think about is them getting horribly flooded in here with all of this heavy stuff they could get caught under and...

yeah.]

You...don't think anything else will happen...do you?

Eh--haha-- no! Of course not! Why would anything else happen?

[Man, when Chihiro makes faces like that, it kind of makes Souda feel bad for being such a weenie.]

It'll be fine. It'll let up in no time! The lights are still on and everyth--

[As if to knock Souda down a few pegs, the lights cut off on cue, leaving the only light from the wood-burning heater.]

...Aw man...

[Aw man is right. It wasn't quite so bad with the lights on, but now? Now it's just plain scary, especially since there's minimal light that causes everything to cast huge shadows along the walls.

Chihiro bites back a small whine in the back of his throat as he inches ever closer to Souda.]

H-hey, c'mon, man.

[Souda's a little freaked, too, but Chihiro's fear makes him feel a little protective. He can't really afford to be such a scaredy cat when Chihiro's scared, right?

...Okay, so maybe he's still scared himself, but he can pretend he isn't. He wraps an arm around Chihiro's shoulders and pulls him close to his side.]

Ch-chillax! It'll be over soon. The wiring's just... pretty crap in here.

M-mmm...

[He gives a soft noise of affirmation, but the thing he's most concentrated on is Souda's arm around him, holding him close. It's a combination of that and the heater still being lit that helps to stave off his anxiety about the storm and the darkness.

Chihiro leans into Souda's side slightly, letting his head rest against the material of his jumpsuit as he stares at the light of the heater.]

...you're right. I'm just...glad you're here.

...Wait, really?

[It's not really the first thing Souda would think of-- for someone to be glad he's there, in a situation like this.

Really. Of all people.

But he quickly puts on a boastful face, rubbing his nose with his free hand.]

Y-yeah, I mean, of course! I've got your back, buddy.

[He leans a little closer, concentrating on the tiny furnace and not the warmth in his cheeks. It's... kind of nice to be relied on.]

[Souda may not realize it, but it's important to Chihiro to have someone he knows he can rely on. Not only to feel safe, but just...in general. Friends have always been a big thing because he can't honestly say that he has very many.

The thunder rolls gently in the distance, a different animal compared to the loud crashing from earlier.]

Thank you, Souda-san...

Eheh... It's no big deal.

[He shrugs a little, keeping Chihiro close.

He certainly knows the feeling of having very few friends, but he's always wanted to keep people away-- bullies and friends alike. He's always believed other people will leave him behind-- so to have someone relying on him to stick close by, doing exactly what he can't get himself to do... it's a strange experience.]

You'd stick around for me, right?

Of course I would.

[The answer comes immediately and easily, though it's still soft, as it tends to be. He hasn't known Souda for an exceptionally long time, but as he seems to do he's grown rather attached in the short time they've known each other. He can't imagine ever leaving him if he was needed, or otherwise doing something that might hurt him in any way.]

[Shark-toothed though it may be, Souda's smile is genuine. He knows by now that Chihiro is just quiet, and that even quiet words can be truths.

Yeah, he trusts Chihiro.

He squeezes the kid a little, arm tight around his shoulders.]

So don't worry about it! We'll stick by each other no matter what.

[With his free hand, he offers Chihiro a fistbump.]

Right?

[There's only a brief bit of hesitation before Chihiro smiles too, reaching up to bump his fist against Souda's.]

Right. ...no matter what.

[Quite pleased by the fistbump, Souda seems damn near impervious to the rainy sounds now that he's gone and had that conversation, and now that Chihiro seems in better spirits.]

Ah-- hold on a second.

[He lets go of Chihiro to lean forward and add more kindling to the fire, now that it's cooked through its first dose.]

It's a good thing we have this heater, isn't it?

Heh! Yea. I'm just glad it was workin' right off the bat.

[He grins, rocking back on his heels and back into a sitting position.]

Not that I wouldn't fix it, but it's pretty nice to have it working already.

Mhm. We really needed it too, with how cold it is with all of this rain.

[He's really glad they aren't going 2/2 here, either, with no power and no heater.]

I know you would have been able to fix it if you needed to, though.

Hey, I could warm you up anyhow.

[...He has to snort a little, though, because even he can't pull off that line seriously. Besides, it's not like he's actually flirting. Right.]

[Chihiro can't help but laugh, too, covering his mouth with one hand.]

I wouldn't doubt that.

He's just gonna pull you close, but this time it's for a half-assed noogie (because he isn't going to actually hurt Chihiro or actually fuck up his hair.)]
