The Let's Fucking Cuddle Meme



action is fun and smut is nice and mysterious magical hijinks through space and time are the bomb diggity. and sometimes you just want to aggressively cuddle your friend/sibling/parent/pet/lover/acquaintance/this new person you are meeting now.

this meme is for just that: latching on and not letting go until that what/whoever has been cuddled.

how this works;
1. post your character with as much/little information as you want (name/series/preferences/whatever).
2. go to rng for a number for where and why the cuddles are happening. or just pick one.
3. respond to others.
4. cuddle. but like. really cuddle. no one is letting go until everyone is completely thoroughly cuddled.

a. where
1. by a heat source : because outside is cold but this fire/space heater/demon is warm and cozy and just right. winter is just getting started, okay.
2. away from a heat source : wow going out into the snow during a rainstorm a million miles from the nearest blanket was a poor choice--but wait. there's snuggles.
3. a private place : maybe you're watching a movie on the couch, maybe you're catching up on the newspaper in the breakfast nook, maybe it doesn't matter because whatever you're about to be cuddled.
4. a public place : cuddle time waits for no man or no "more appropriate" setting sometimes. out in a park, in an airport, in the middle of a food court--the time for snuggles is now and other people be damned.
5. somewhere else : if somehow a place which is unrelated to heat and/or neither in or outside. even in such a place there can still be cuddles.

b. why
1. the sleepies - it's been a long day and all you want to do is close your eyes for a bit. do this by claiming someone as a cuddle you can sleep on.
2. bad weather - heavy rain, thunder, blizzard, monsoon; these are things which ruin plans. luckily, they cannot ruin cuddles.
3. because surprise - is your buddy working too much and needs a distraction? are you being ignored when you need a hug? does the love just need to be spread? whatever it is, they won't see it coming until they're being snuggled.
4. activity conducive - maybe you're watching a movie or reading a book or squished together in a train car or dancing to the point of exhaustion or waiting in line for a thing. it's just super easy to change whatever you're doing into being a pile of cuddles. so do it.
5. so emotion very love - it's totally platonic but still totally overwhelming. the love you have for this person just needs to be expressed, and only a clinging of cuddles will do. hug them. hug them now and also forever.
6. jeepers creepers - was it a spider in the washroom, a ghost in the attic, a bad dream, a figment of your imagination, an actual serial killer? probably all. probably a nightmare ghost spider serial killer breaking out of your imagination. clinging to someone might fix it.
7. there, there, little friend - sick in bed, just been dumped or having some other sort of crappy day, you need someone to wrap their arms around you and make everything go away.
8. that other thing - whatever, you do what you want. you go, cuddle friend. you do your thing.

[ It may in fact be closer in the running to worst cuddle ever, but Zack's not entirely sure what the motivation behind this sudden, aggressive hug is. Not that he thinks it's anything particularly awful - this is Cloud, after all, even if the guy's got more than a couple screws loose, these days. (Some of which Zack feels pretty responsible for, too.) And it's not even the first time Cloud's wandered out of his own sleeping bag and onto his side of the tent.

But it's still not something that generally just happens, and it catches him off his guard as he dozes. Which prompts a laugh and an attempt to turn in the superhuman grip Cloud has on him. ] Hey... What's the big idea, Spike?

[ There's a moment of silence where it might seem like Cloud isn't going to answer, but it's not like he's gone to sleep; the grip is only slightly looser, since Zack's made it clear he wants to move. Finally he mumbles: ] Making sure you don't wander off.

[ Having a few screws loose has made him better at saying weird things casually. Of course Zack wasn't going to wander off when he'd been sleeping, but he could have. He would have just ruffled Cloud's hair and made that stupid smile while Cloud was completely unable to respond.

Well, now Cloud could respond, and he lightly knocks his head against Zack's for even thinking he could do such a stupid thing (even if it was thought a while ago, now) and then ducks his face against Zack's shoulder.

...Yeah, 'couple screws loose' is accurate. ]

[ Wandering off is definitely the last thing Zack had in mind - but Cloud seems unwilling enough to let go of him (at least completely), so maybe it'd be best just to humor him. Rolling over onto his back - because it's more comfortable this way, with a great big best-friend-sized leech attached to his side, not just because it's easier to wrap an anchoring arm back around Cloud - Zack shrugs back down comfortably in his bedroll.

And does his best to sound more genuinely curious than teasing. ]

Oh yeah? Where was I plannin' on going? [ It's not a great success, even with the sound of a yawn mixed in. But he's already getting headbutted for his trouble, so why go the extra mile. ]

Like you'd tell me. [ Muffled against Zack's shoulder and quiet. Cloud gives another little squeeze--'little' considering it was already a tight hug. ] You're not going anywhere now.

[ Well, that sucks some of the levity out of the... admittedly weird moment they're having. Zack frowns, tucking his free hand behind his head as he studies the ceiling of the tent - which looks pretty much the same way it did with the sun up. ]

Why wouldn't I tell you? I tell you everything. [ Usually too much. He's more accustomed to Cloud telling him to shut-up than accusing him of keeping quiet. ]

[ Does he ever have normal moments with Cloud.

And that's true, Zack usually overshares--about all the stupid little things. Some of the big stuff, on the other hand. Cloud hadn't even thought to ask, because he thought Zack would tell him anything, and that was wrong. ]

Would you tell me if you thought I'd get hurt following you?

[ Because there is no question, of course, if he would follow Zack. He's had a few things rattled in his head, but not that. ]

[ Nope.

Which is why he usually just tries to roll with it. Not that that's very hard, honestly; Zack isn't used to doing anything normally, anyway. He probably wouldn't know what to do with a totally mundane moment. So he's okay with this one, in spite of the strangeness and the suddenness of it.

What he's not okay with is Cloud's gloomy outlook. He'd though they were (mostly) over that. Maybe it was a bad dream? Or maybe something somebody'd said had set him off (it happened).

Without thinking, Zack starts to comb his fingers idly through Cloud's hair, as he tries to think up something... diplomatic, to say to that. ]

...Would it even matter if I did? I don't think you ever listen to that sort of thing.

[ Cloud tenses a little at the touch, thinking of the wrong memory, but. no. they're safe right now. Everything's all right, and he melts a little, the bear hug loosening. ]

Yeah. Gotta stick like a burr to keep up with you.

[ Maybe a bad dream. He's tired enough to slip into corny phrases. ]

[ That earns a laugh, and Zack ruffles his hair a little more firmly, mussing it up under his palm. ]

I guess that's right, since you already look like one.

[ There's a bit of grunting before Cloud reaches with a hand to swat Zack's away. staaaaahhp. ] Says the hedgehog.
