The further you are from that magical age, the more adulthood seems like a far-off, idyllic fantasy land. When you're an adult, no one can tell you what to do. You're on your own, you can do whatever you like, and there's absolutely nothing to answer for. At least, that's how it seems. But the grass is always greener on the other side, isn't it? As an adult, your eyes are opened. You're on your own, yes, but you cannot do whatever you'd like and there's everything to answer for. And you're alone in this world.

But perhaps you're not there yet. Perhaps you're caught up somewhere between adult and child. The existential crisis of age is beginning to dawn upon you, yet there's something in you that is still enchanted by adulthood. So it's natural that, as your sexual interests grow, you'll be interested in someone that can give you what your young peers cannot. As you've gotten older and wiser, you've learned you don't have all the answers, though you'll never admit that. Isn't it better to learn from the best and those more experienced? Yet there's still some brattiness left in you, and what could be better to stick it to authority than by being in control of somebody older than you, who should be in charge of you? You have them wrapped around your finger and that's intoxicating. Of course, letting someone else be in charge is all right; it may have to be, unless you want them to punish you.

What if you're not the younger one in this equation, though? You're the adult. How do you view your relationship with your youthful lover? It has to be just romantic...there's nothing parental about it, right? If there is or isn't, do you feel guilt? Perverse glee?

Don't become too worked up yet. This could all be a game, a kink between two of age lovers. Though society wouldn't look all too kindly on that, either...

( Sansa's dad procures her a position to intern for her high school community service hours the same day her mom organized for her to volunteer at a dog shelter. And Sansa, being the sweet, soft hearted girl she is, wanted to work with puppies and kittens instead of filing papers in a stuffy old office building. Jeyne Poole is a sweet, soft hearted girl, too, but she doesn't have a super powerful father or proactive mother to find her good service opportunities, so when Eddard Stark offers her the job (more of disapprovingly remarks towards Sansa that it is impolite to make a business arrangement and Sansa glanced at Jeyne and said she could fill it) she'd said yes.

The more she hears about it, the more it sounds like an internship: an unpaid internship that'll help her graduate next year. But it sounds increasingly upscale, and when Eddard Stark mentioned it's for Tywin Lannister (Robert Baratheon's father in law, an already incredibly powerful man whose affluent connections practically made him business mogul royalty) she nearly fainted. Her father takes her to visit the Lannister Tower the day before the internship is supposed to start, and Jeyne's knees knock in her carefully bleached school stockings. She feels horribly self conscious after that, and insists her father take her shopping because she didn't have any proper clothes to wear to such an upscale place of business. She gets a new pleated skirt and a blouse that's maybe a little too sheer, but makes her feel grown up, and a new locket (a surprise from her dad), and since the Poole's are not made of money, she thanks him with twelve kisses and a lot of hugs. She's a daddy's girl, almost worse than Sansa, and even asks him to drive her to work on Saturday.

It's her first day, and Vayon Poole even makes her a lunch with her name on it to take to the office. Excitement overruns her trepidation, and Jeyne is on an adrenaline high until she gets on the elevator. Then she has to take a quick trip to the bathroom to stare at herself in the mirror and splash cold water on her face, only to have to re-do her hair afterwards. She's a brave girl; a brave, strong girl, and walks with purpose she's copied from her father (and Sansa's father) into the main lobby to ask for her new boss at the front desk.

There's a pretty brunette at the phones with a name plaque that reads Shae who points in the direction of two large wooden doors that face the west side of the building. He's in there, she says, and Jeyne hesitates. Really? I can just go in? I can just... But Shae gestures impatiently as the phones start to ring, and Jeyne tip toes across the richly carpeted floor and knocks on the doors. ) I, um... Mister Lannister?
