What Shinkai hadn't expected were so many slick patches from the rain. Usually, the traction from their bikes could combat slippery roads, but today, it seems they weren't that lucky.

While Shinkai had managed to just crash along the side, abandoning his racer in favor of wiping out solo, he's managed to at least make it with only a pretty bad scrape on his right side and--well, something's up with his elbow, but he can figure that out later.
