( guarded! sylvia is a prominent member of an assassins guild, so attempts on her life are pretty frequent. it's implied that she can defend herself pretty damn well, but why should she when other people can do the work for her?

[The Association has been a very good partner to him. They've let him organize his affairs much more efficiently than he's managed on his own in the past, given him more contracts and helped him keep an eye on the current structure of the criminal underworld in his other job. It's made his life simpler, safe to say.
So... when Sylvia Christel asks him to serve as her body-guard during a particular stunt of hers, a party she's throwing in which the Mexicans, the Italians, the Russians, Chinese and damn near every single organized crime gang in the known world are attending, spending enough money to buy her the whole damn city twice over... she wants someone guarding her back that won't turn around and try to backstab her AND who knows his way around various criminal organisations.
It is a case Doctor Peace is only too happy to accept. He's knocking on her door, apparently she decided to change after dinner was over into her party-dress.]

[Seeing as how the rebooter just saved his life, one supposes at least a little thanks ought to be in order. But then, as far as Nathan's concerned, he wouldn't even be in this position if it weren't for the ex-assassin's intervention. He'd be back in his lab, working on his projects as he has for half a century, and the rest of the world would take care of itself.
But staying in his lab's no longer an option now. Not since Liam came for him, having heard of him from his shadier contacts, and knowing that he was the best - perhaps even the only - way of curing the devastating biodata-fueled disease that has infected his true charge, the activist Syd. Whether he knew he was being followed ahead of time, or didn't want to waste time on social niceties, Liam hadn't given him the option of agreeing to this, even if he would have been so inclined (to be fair, though, he probably wouldn't have). He just took him.
And now the redhead's saved his life from the first of their pursuers foolish enough to engage directly. If he'd had any lingering doubts about the martial ability of his kidnapper-turned-bodyguard, watching him brutally disarm their assailant and snap his neck has done wonders for dispelling them. He approaches Liam and the corpse at his feet cautiously, peering down at the masked man's face.

Viola could be someone who's magic is helping to stabilize his host so that it doesn't die and kills Eddie as well, whereupon he protects her in return.
