You're not overly proud of yourself; more than anything, you're ashamed. Of the way you look, of the way you act, of your origin, of your past and what you've done, of who you are. Why would anyone want to be around you? Even if they did, they wouldn't understand who you really are. It's easier to just stay away and not get close to anyone.

Then, the one person comes into your life and suddenly, that all changes. They get you, and something that simple makes the tides turn. You're not so ashamed. You can be around them comfortably. Finally, you feel...worthy.

That alone makes you want them more than anything. Still, the thought of losing them by making a move and ruining all you have is bracing. Will you risk it all to see if maybe, just maybe, they could love you

And if you do, what lengths will you go through to protect this relationship?

Bruce felt more comfortable then he had in a long time. The fire was warm and the night was quiet two things that made it easy for him to relax. The company didn't hurt either even though he sometimes wondered if he shouldn't just walk away before he hurt the pretty young witch.

[when he left it, he was fairly certain that he'd never see the Enchanted Forest again. sailing off with Cora, that was intended to be the last he ever saw it. he was sailing to his revenge, and he'd never had any disillusion that once he had it that would be the end. honestly he hadn't even been sad to leave it behind. there wasn't anything for him here.

only here they are, in the dusty remnants of his crocodile's castle, searching for answers that don't exist. he doesn't want to tell Emma the truth he's certain of, that there is no magic that can return to her what she's lost. the son his actions have stolen from her is gone. but if he tells her that he's not sure there will be anything left in her, and for all the people he's destroyed he wants to preserve what is left of Emma Swan. he is not sure anyone was devastated as much by his revenge as she has been and all he can see when he looks at her is how much she's lost, because of him. it amazes him she can still look him in the eye.
