THE sexual baggage MEME The media paints a beautiful picture of sex as the most important, most important thing in life. There could be a glimmer of truth in that; sex can be good, wonderful even. But not everyone is fortunate enough to have the best relationship with physical intimacy. You can relate, can't you? Sex is something you're not always so sure about. It's not because of the person you're with, not really, but the act itself brings up unfortunate baggage. There's parts of your body or old injuries you're not too proud of or don't want to think about. You don't like people touching you. You've always been taught that sex was dirty, unclean. In your past, events or traumas occurred that make you less than thrilled to present any kind of vulnerability. Whatever the case may be, sexual intimacy opens a whole Pandora's Box for you. But you're with someone, someone you may even love, and you want to be with them. You want to try and do this for them and, in the end, for yourself. Of course, it will be easier said than done, and you'll need the full cooperation of that partner. Or maybe you are that partner, trying to understand how to make your lover comfortable. Whatever the case, you may have your work cut out for you - yet if you're truly willing to understand each other, the results can be more than worth it. If they're not? That's all right, too. Everyone has to move at their own pace. HOW TO PLAY Comment with your character and preferences. Mention if your character is the person with the hangups or their hopefully supportive lover. If they're the former, feel free to mention what your character's issues may be. Needless to say, this meme may be triggering. Also include if you'd prefer this attempt to fail, succeed, or either. Steve sits down on the bed, not taking his eyes off Loki. They're only an inch or two away from each other. They've touched casually before, and also not so casually. Loki wasn't in the best state when he arrived at Steve's, and while Steve was initially hesitant... he ended up helping. They had to touch then. But now it's different.

Steve wasn't entirely stupid. He knew Loki was a master of lies. But Loki was so endlessly annoyed at needing help at all, that Steve just decided to give up and go ahead and trust him. Not with his bank account details, not with the lives of his friends, but with day to day things? With a gentle touch on the shoulder as he sits down to eat, with being able to sleep in the same room, with the occasional sharing of a joke or a smile?

...yes. Steve trusts him with things like that. He's actually found it quite... nice to have him there. Someone who needs him. Someone he can help.

He swallows, reaches out and gently grips Loki's shoulder. "It's okay if you don't want to do this," he says hoarsely, roughly, then he leans in to brush his lips against Loki's.

Loki had not been in a good place, when he'd first arrived back on Earth. He'd had to flee Asgard anew before his deception was discovered, only to run right into agents from his old master. Not sent to kill him, oh no. Sent to bring him back. But it was amazing what you could live through, for the sake of ensuring your compliance.

Loki had taken a chance, and fled to Earth. Thanos would return here on day, but for now, it remained a planet that had stymied him, stopped him, and so he could hide here. Using any magic at all would risk further discovery from all the many people who wanted him dead, but Loki had always been good at surviving, even when he didn't want to.

Being found by Steve, and, of all things, given shelter had been...highly unexpected.

And it works. Loki is piercingly aware of how little he deserves this consideration, remembers all too well all the people Steve could call to come and take him away (like Thor), so he tries not to take up too much space, he tries to behave. It turns out to be not as much of a hardship as it could be, certainly not as bad as the last people to pull him out of a dark place.

He accepts the care with biting bad grace but absolutely no attempts to take advantage, and a hunger that scares him all the more to feel when he forgets to snap. Sometimes, he can't help but realize how nice this all is, even as he puts up an annoyed front.

Being Loki, of course he looks for a way for all of it to be a lie. So at some point, he'd internalized the idea that Steve must want this in payment for his kindness. He'd steadfastly refused to take any other possible advantage presented by this situation. So Loki had decided to test the waters, get it over with if that was what it came to. It wasn't as though it would likely be unpleasant, not with someone like Captain America.

And that's fine, of course, that is...fine. Or it will be, once he manages to shut himself off. That's proving strangely hard to do, around Steve. He hopes the other man can't tell how tense he is, under the mortal clothing he's taken to wearing. Even that flimsy material he wears in layers.

All his resolve, all his hastily constructed certainties about why and what falter a little at the first brush of Steve's lips. Loki lets out a soft little hum, eyes half-closing. He smiles as the other man pulls away, something outwardly teasing that doesn't ring entirely true this time. "Of course it is," he murmurs, like it's some private joke between the two of them. Just like he doesn't have to stay here...but it's the safest place he's known in years.

He leans in to kiss lightly at the line of Steve's bared throat. "But surely you deserve something in exchange, for all your generous assistance."

{ ooc: Ressler can be either! If he's the one with the baggage then it's going to take some prodding to get him to confess anything because he'll try and bury it down since they're trying to be intimate (though then he'll be hesitant and stiff in his affections).

If he's the one comforting it's not going to be A+ comforting, since he'll do it a little backwardly and keep it humble and accepting once he gets them talking about things.

Either way, I'm fine with both the scenarios succeeding or failing; it'll just depend where the thread goes!

Dany is usually confident now but she does come from a history of abuse and insecurity and having her agency disregarded; she also has fairly severe trust issues stemming from having experienced a lot of betrayals and also from the way that a lot of the attention she receives is insincere and manipulative instead of genuinely based on her. That said, I'm comfortable with her playing either role in the meme: she could be dealing with the above issues or help someone else dealing with them or other issues.]

[Jio hated to be in a relationship and being too scared to actually do anything. Sure he did not reject Wally's touch, but he had problems returning them. Had problems even smiling and laughing with the other because he feared what might happen if his feeling became too clear. But this really could not go on. It would only hurt the both of them. Either they sorted things out and then he needed to explain a lot about himself and uncomfortable incidents from his past or this would have to end.]

Kitty wants to open herself up, but after losing Colossus, splitting from Pete Wisdom, and even having to part ways with Peter Parker, she certainly has her own skeletons and problems. ]
