All Hallow's Eve is over but the nights seem to be bleeding further into the day, faster than they should; then the power to the cities goes out, the satellite is silent, batteries only last so long until they are exchanged for torches as the world is thrown into a sunless chaos. No one knows what is happening or why and there are Darkling Things that have begin moving in the shadows, whispering:
"One shade the more, one ray the less..." Darkling Things & Fell Winds

From the distance, only bits of the standard blue and green poked through the oppressive black. Peter had never seen anything like it and he's seen more than his fair share in his time. Even with that, part of him still wanted to ride straight past it. Not like it was his problem anymore, he didn't have anything on the planet worth his time. In the end, he couldn't resist the pull, and down he went.
It took him time to navigate through the atmosphere and he lost his course. He has no idea where he landed, besides it being a thankfully abandoned field. Peter sometimes thinks that ships just gravitate towards fields. It's weird. He hops out and lands easily onto the old terrain.
Well. What he thought was a field is actually the remains of a city. It seems to have torn itself apart. But why?]
What the fu--
[His ship making unhappy sounds cuts him off from finishing his sentence.]

What made this new state of the world more difficult narrowed down to two things: Uncertainty and the monsters. Without communication connecting them to the rest of the world, no one could tell how far the darkness stretched, and without ways to protect themselves, the number of fires burning like waypoints across the land began to shrink.
In Britain, however, Gary King refused to be deterred from his wandering way of life. Only when the blue lights inside the blanks that lit their way started to short out did he grow concerned. At first, he chalked up the darkness to more alien interference, but his blanks said that in the information they still carried from the Network, no species had these sort of powers, or these beasts at their disposal.
Naturally, people blamed the blanks anyway. They remained easy scapegoats, and likely always would be. So Gary found his friends shelter in an abandoned city, then struck out on his own to at least find some clue as to what was really going on.
So when the spaceship touches down about ten yards away from him, his hackles instantly raise. He draws his sword and sticks to the shadows, not trusting the human shape that comes out. The blanks on Earth had their hivemind destroyed, but that meant nothing for someone who dared to come back.]
I realized that I forgot to pick a number. Numbers are for CHUMPS.

It was just a little bit tedious. Definitely didn't help the Doctor's God complex either, always being picked. Looking around at the thick unsettling dark, she would have perhaps made a bigger protest about the whole thing being stopped but for once, this wasn't her fault. And she didn't overly like someone else trying to kill them. "So what's the plan? I assume you have one? Endless dark, dreadful weather, the end is nigh. It's you're Christmas list in action, love."
That and she wanted this end before that dreadful breeze blew her hat off.

"Do you think I rang them up? 'Oh yes, I'd love to see a massive ship above London, thank you'. Like that's never happened before." The Doctor sneered over to Missy. (The thought that she even picked out a nickname made him gag.)
He's all teeth, and eyebrows and scowls, the wind picked up as the ship emitted another sound pulse, going over the town like waves. "If we don't stop this, the frequency alone will destroy half this place." No, he didn't have a plan.
