Marcus had never believed in keeping his hands clean of the day-to-day (or really, night-to-night) operations of his casino, enjoying the benefits of being one of Las Vegas' newest tycoons but never visiting the trenches, shaking hands with guests and employees alike, getting a feel for what really went on and what really made his money. Normally, when he spotted teenagers loitering around the gaming area, he would have simply called security. Tess had come to Joel's apartment to discuss business, first and foremost. She'd pounded on his door in that usual impatient way of hers, sauntered into his apartment like she was the queen of his domain, without so much as a greeting as he opened the door.

Got straight down to business: told him that one of their contacts stationed outside the zone had disappeared - probably turned into a Clicker if bandits hadn't blown his head off - and told him she was working on finding a new contact; let him know that there were a couple of guys in the downtown district that hadn't fronted up the rest of their payment for the guns she and Joel had smuggled in for them - she'd paid them a visit earlier that day, put the fear of God into them, told them cool and calm as anything like she was discussing the weather that she and Joel would be back tomorrow and that they'd better have the rest of their payment or they were dead meat; told him some of the zone gossip that she caught wind of during her rounds of checking up on clients. Also reminded Joel that there was a big shipment coming in next week, probably one of their lasts for a couple of months with the winter months now truly settling in, and that they needed to get prepared.

In amongst all of this, she'd helped herself to Joel's whiskey, pouring herself a generous amount in a grimy, chipped glass. Poured herself a second glass when she drained the first one. Tess wasn't a heavy drinker by nature - as tempting as it could be to drown her thoughts and her deeply, carefully hidden away traumas and grief in liquor, she preferred keeping her wits about her - but there were times when she would cut loose a little. Usually meant only one of two things when she did cut loose like that: either she was coming down from the high of an adrenalin rush, something only sex or alcohol could sedate the effects of, or she was antsy and bored. And Tess was definitely getting antsy and bored - business was slowing down now, thanks to winter, and nothing drove her crazier than being at a loose end.

"Good thing we're pretty stocked up this year," said Tess as she lifted the glass back to her lips while crossing the small, cluttered living area towards Joel. "Have a feeling this winter's gonna be a bitch."

Swallowing a small gulp of whiskey, she held the glass out for Joel in case he wanted some. Her other hand stretched out, fingers hooking casually into the front of his jeans. Alcohol always made Tess handsy, more demanding than she already was, a little unintentionally revealing of how much she actually craved human contact.

She gave his waistband a small tug, urging him into her personal space. It was an unspoken move that was as effortlessly commanding as it was intimate, and very telling of how much she trusted Joel. There was certainly no other man in the zone that she would allow this close just because she wanted them close. The only times she'd ever let such things happen with other men was when she had ulterior motives of sweet-talking her way into getting something out of someone, or to issue death threats and warnings to pay up on time uttered in that kittenish voice she liked to put on when she particularly wanted to terrify a guy. Both schemes almost always worked.

Changing the topic without preamble, she looked up at Joel and continued, her voice dropping a little, "You gotta be anywhere this afternoon?"

It all has to be perfect, for this is the year that the Einzberns are going to win the Holy Grail War; their chosen Servant, though undeniably dangerous to handle, will be undefeatable. Though Irisviel was the first to express her concern over using such a Servant, she knew her place better than to push against it. As a homunculus, a puppet, she is to serve as the Grail's vessel -- nothing more.

As her husband, Kiritsugu, begins the summoning ritual, the markings on the floor glow red, casting the cathedral in the same hue. Behind the first pew, Iri stands with her hand clenched over her artificial heart in both worry for the obvious and hope -- hope that summoning the "hero" known as the Demon God will be enough to end the Wars and save her daughter from the same fate she is destined for. Though her hair and gown flutter in the wind created by the magecraft, she steels her expression, and just moments later, Kiritsugu's voice reaches a crescendo, the man steadying his command seal-adorned hand by the wrist as a bright, white light washes over the cathedral.

Once the summoning is complete, both the wind and the light fade quickly, revealing Asura himself surrounded by a slight fog. The couple makes no move, waiting for the Servant to speak.]

Tidus had picked a nice little spot for him and Sakura to drive to. It was away from the city and the light pollution, so they would be able to see the stars clearly and smell all the fresh air. It wasn’t a place that was very traveled, meaning they were given a lot of privacy. And so they were both able to sit and enjoy the night, gazing up at the beauty of the stars.

It seemed like that was all the night was going to be. But, of course things escalated quite a bit. And by escalated, that meant he ended up with his shirt off, pants hanging down low and standing between Sakura’s legs.
