You're not overly proud of yourself; more than anything, you're ashamed. Of the way you look, of the way you act, of your origin, of your past and what you've done, of who you are. Why would anyone want to be around you? Even if they did, they wouldn't understand who you really are. It's easier to just stay away and not get close to anyone.

Then, the one person comes into your life and suddenly, that all changes. They get you, and something that simple makes the tides turn. You're not so ashamed. You can be around them comfortably. Finally, you feel...worthy.

That alone makes you want them more than anything. Still, the thought of losing them by making a move and ruining all you have is bracing. Will you risk it all to see if maybe, just maybe, they could love you

And if you do, what lengths will you go through to protect this relationship?

[She's noticed the way he's been around her lately. She's still nervous around him, and that alone would have caused her to withdraw from him. Not only that, but what he's done...

But he saved her - more than once, in fact. He's shown signs of changing, and so she's been watching him carefully. Their relationship has been rather like the tides; one (or both) of them draws near, then pulls away again.

And yet again, here they are - but she knows they're both tired of things being this way.]

[She was back again.]

[She really needed to stop doing that; she knew everything now, after all. Everything he'd done from the moment he shoved that bitch Yamano into the TV to now. He'd even attacked her once before, but she still kept coming back. He didn't know if she was a glutton for punishment or what... but she really needed to stop, if only because her presence made him do things he wouldn't do with anyone else.]

Back again, eh? We really gotta stop meeting like this.

[And by meeting, he means not at all; because everything is too damn different when she's around, and he didn't know what to do about it.]

We really ought to.

[So why? Why does she keep coming back? Why does he, for that matter? If it isn't her seeking him out, it's him, coming to find her.

But she's gotten less and less bothered by the way they're meeting, especially as Adachi appears to grow more mellow as she spends time with him.]

[A lot had changed after that incident; he ended up back in his world, and apparently just in time. The world ending was happening everywhere it seemed, and he did his part, stewing over the memories of his time together with her, with all of them. He enjoyed the fact that when he made it back he could brag that he knew more than everyone else, but... then there she was.]

[Emotions sucked.]

Yeah...

[But she wasn't leaving, and neither was he. Funny how that worked.]

Tohru... why do you always look at me so?

[She has the feeling that she already knows the answer... but it needs to be said, nonetheless.]

Hn...? What are you talking about? I look the same way at everyone.

[Which was a blatant lie if there ever was one.]

That is simply not true, and you know it.

[She's tired of his dodging. She wants the truth.]

Heh... whatever you say. You're the one crazy enough to hang around a murderer; you want to go looking for things that aren't there, that's your problem.

[It was cruel... but maybe it'd be enough for her to stop? That was the safe thing after all, even if he didn't want her to leave.]

Tohru!

[She stares at him, stepping closer, and crosses her arms.]

I'm rather tired of you lying about this.

[She knows him better than this by now.]

Hey, when I have I lied? Geeze... you keep projecting who you want me to be on me, and you just get disappointed each time. You really should learn by now.
